Hello all! My name is Nick, or you can call me Didi. New to this site and a total novice in general to this sort of belief system IE voodoo, hoodoo etc. So a ton to learn I am sure!

My thought/belief process tends to go along the lines of various Eastern ones, Shinto, Taoism, Hinduism, Buddhism and such. I have always had an interest in voodoo/hoodoo and after reading a bit about it and seeing how its akin to the Eastern concepts, it only makes sense to explore it a bit.

As the title says, I'm in San Diego Cali. and from asking around with co-workers and friends, they either don't know, or there isn't much a community out here in person to talk to, so came here! Closest thing was Santeria and that was from a friend of a friend of a family members friend.

Anyways, not the best at these sorts of introductions, been years since I joined and posted on a forum and I have no clue where to start in this subject. So any and all help would be much appreciated. I guess if I had to zero in on goals, it would be to find a better job, take care of my family and tend to the natural world along with gaining understanding on the connection of all things and as per my Eastern thought process, gain enlightenment for others and myself.

To begin with, keep in mind that Voodoo (Vodoun) is a religion and not the same as Hoodoo which is African American folk magic. Next off, it bears mentionning that the Eastern paradigms include numerous concepts that are not shared by Hoodoo. Amongst others the idea of chakras, karma, enlightenment and reincarnation come to mind - these are all notions foreign to the practice and vocabulary of Hoodoo which is mostly practiced by Protestant Christians (largely Baptist).

That said, read through the thread and links provided in the suggested thread and feel free to pose any questions you have in the appropriate sub-forums: we'll do our best to answer you.

Thank you for the welcomes! I do have to say, the forums are a bit overwhelming, there is ALOT to look over. I know this is off topic for the thread, but I am looking for help in regards to finding a new job and to aquire some money, not a ton, but enough to help jump start a new start for my family and get them out of the drudges. Also, aside from me doing the footwork on this, also looking to request others to help as well. Thank you for any help.
