Greetings from SW Florida!

Unread post by John A Magee III » Wed Jun 18, 2014 12:39 am

It's a pleasure to make everyone's acquaintance!

I'm John (full name's the same as my handle here) and I'm a 32-year-old full-time student living in SW Florida with my wife and entirely too many small animals (that is a lie, there are never enough small animals). I've long studied various magic(k)al systems over the course of the last two decades (mostly of a Western/ceremonial bent, specifically in the Thelemic/A.A. and Golden Dawn veins), but have not been involved in the work aspect of things for several years. I've been immersing myself in hoodoo literature that I've been able to find for the last couple of months, though, and find it to be more agreeable to my particular sensibilities than anything else that I've encountered. From a religious standpoint, I am a member of the Church of Christ (not United), though I prefer private Bible studies to attending services. I grew up in rural SE Pennsylvania (where I was exposed to a bit of hexen-craft, though it was mostly 'chust fer looks'), surrounded by a surprisingly diverse community (my home-town isn't even a town, but a village, located right outside a steel town that has admittedly seen better days) and lived in Arizona for seven years between stints living where I do now, in SW Florida.

i am currently a sophomore in college (I screwed around during my 20s, but I also didn't have clear goals in mind or a career path, so I guess I can consider it finding myself) studying software engineering with an emphasis on virtual and augmented reality technologies. Other than doing school-work, I enjoy playing collectible strategy games (Magic: The Gathering, Heroclix, etc) and table-top roleplaying games, working on a small vegetable garden with my wife, cooking delicious meat products on the grill during gatherings with friends, and of course, studying all sorts of things! I do hope to, in several months, apply to the correspondence course offered by Lucky Mojo, but as with all things, I feel it's good to get a footing in things before I hop in. I look forward to getting to know people on the forum and learning a great deal!

Thanks very much for the warm welcome! I intend to pick up a copy of Ms. Cat's book as soon as possible, it seems to have an excellent amount of utility to it!
