Wanderlustxo ,

You do not have to make a standing Altar with a Saint. It is up to you on what you create and the relationship you have with the Saint. I do keep a statue of him with him and set a candle frequently.

You can learn more about. creating altars from this virtual workshop, you will have 24 hour access and can watch it as often as you like. It is filled with great information by Miss Michaele on creating altars.

Miss Michaele demonstrates her own unique methods for making your altar work more powerful, less stressful, and more beautiful. The secret to success is to learn how to treat the altar as both a practical work-space and as a work of venerational art.

Hi Shefa,

Some people love working with St Expedite like Jaydee, while others don't. He has a few rules you need to follow.

1. The petition needs to be very specific, if asking for money, need the exact amount and date needed.
2. He needs his own altar, it can be a small table or stool but needs to be just for him.
3. He needs an altar. Some saints ok with you lighting candles on the floor, not Expedite, it should be a flat surface, with red cloth or a bandana. You will need either Expedite glass-encased candle with his image, or a red candle with his image printed out. To right is a glass of water, and to the left are red carnations. You can add Mother Mary or other saints behind him.
4. Custom to knock 3 times when talking to him, or ring a silver bell 3 times.
5. If he does the work pay him with pound cake with 3 coins, some say dimes, some say nickles. Do not pay him if he does not do the work.
6. If he missed the deadline you wrote out in the petition very clearly, turn his image upside down.
7. If he still does not listen to you, ask Mother Mary, to push him. "Dear Mother Mary blessed virgin, mother of Christ, I beg your help, please intercede with my petition to St. Expedite, please give my petition to your son, and help grant it. I ask you to help St. Expedite fulfill my petition, as I understand he is very busy, in the name of the Virgin, Father, and Son Amen"

Thank you so much, Christopher! Appreciate your kind details very much!
I did have the special altar for Saint Expedite, It's the 10th day today since I asked Him for the petition... so, from your explanation, I should get a new candle, burn it & continue working with him until he "completes" my petition, right? ( I did notice the thing that I asked him to have a little change, but it is not completely done yet).
I will ask Mother Mary to step in from today & turn his image upside down as well.
Thank you very much again!

Hello
I would like to help my husband to sell his motorcycle some kind quickly.
I have Saint Expedite's oil. Could you please inform me about the procedure and what should I place to his altar to thank him?

SHEFA ,

You do keep burning the candle until the petition is answered. Since St. Expedite is known for quick and fast actions, if too much time passes I would consider that he is not willing to to answer this prayer.

St Expedite altar is set up in a triangle shape. When you pray ask him to help and answer your prayer, promise him you will buy him his beloved pound cake and red flowers, as well as publish his name to make him famous. Once the prayer is answered I give him his cake, flowers and post his great deeds. As Mr. Christopher stated, you do not pay him if he does not answer. Simply let the candle burn out, thank him for listening and thank him (always be polite).

To increase the work, I have found authentic St. Expedite oil on the candle produces the fastest results.

crystalangel ,

You want to write a clear petition out for St. Expedite, I want to sell my husband's motorcycle quickly at $ amount. Saint Expedite altar, I set a red cloth down, a glass of spring water to the left, the candle to the back and a photo or statue of the saint to the right. You make a triangle. You pray each day to St. Expedite and also promise to pay him red flowers, pound cake and to publish his name when he answers your prayer. Some add 3 times or 3 silver coins to the pound cake. Some add flowers to the petition, but I personally always reserved them for payment for his service.

Hello, So I have been burning my St Expedite candle for 6 days and nothing has happened. The date I requested is tomorrow. I have a 7 day glass candle and it's about to burn out soon. Because the picture of him is on the candle that is currently burning, I cannot turn it upside down. Can I still pray to Mother Mary and ask her to step in? And should nothing happens tomorrow what should I do with the glass the candle came in and how should I approach him? Just say thank you and try again at a later date?
Thank You.

Hi KimberB,

Absolutely you can ask Mother Mary to help you out. Once the candle goes out you can turn the glass upside down also.
You can also get a reading on the situation at Association of Independent Readers and Rootworkers https://readersandrootworkers.org/wiki/ ... ootworkers

Ok so I can pray to Mother Mary before the candle goes out and once the candle burns out tomorrow and should I need to turn the candle upside down(if my request is not granted), how long should I leave it like that and how long should I leave the altar up? Or should I just wait until tomorrow and if my request is not granted then I turn it upside down and pray to Mother Mary? One more question should I light another red candle when I pray to Mother Mary since the other candle burned out. I have St Expedite oil to dress a red candle. Sorry for all the questions. And thank you for your reply

Hi KimberB,

You can pray to Mary at any time, before during after the candle goes out. You don't need another candle unless you feel drawn to it. You would turn the glass upside down if the petition is not fulfilled when it goes out. You leave the altar up for at least 3 days. If it is fulfilled you must pay him his pound cake with 3 coins, and praise him on this forum.

Best of luck,

KimberB,

Different folks work with saints differently based on their traditions or teachings. In my experience I keep the candle going on St. Expedite, I would set the candle again while praying for my desire. My own rule is after 3 candles if he did not answer my prayer I consider he is not going to answer my prayer. Why 3 candles? Well that is about 15 days, for the Saint of quick and fast actions, I consider it enough time.

I do not pray or ask other Saints to intervene on a case unless I ask the Saints first if they are willing to work together. Expedite is a Saint who does not often share space with others.

Payment should be made as soon as possible when he answers the request. If he does not thank him and do divination to determine what you should do next.

What a fantastic testimony to St. Expedite, and how wonderful your prayer was answered. Lucky Mojo carries authentic St. Expedite products, including candles for his petition and offering and gift.

If you cannot burn them at home yourself, you can also ask MISC to burn them for you, which comes with a candle report.

I have a question regarding the petition to Saint expedite. If you feel you did your petition paper wrong, can you correct while candle burning. Or will you need to start over, if request wasn’t clear or granted?

Hello Lav1,

You wouldn't necessarily know if your request wasn't granted while your candle is still burning. You still have time to see what happens when your candle completes its burn.

That said, if you feel you made a mistake in your petition, it would make sense to start over. That's what I would do.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Thank you, Miss Athena. Well my candle went out on its own, I tried to re-light but it won’t stay lit.
I did not receive request, what do I do now.

Request again or just light a new candle? I need money urgently.

Like what does it mean when the candles goes out at half mark?

Lav1,

When a candle goes out on its own, it is a strong sign of "NO". In this case, Saint Expedite is saying no to your request.

When a saint says, "No," it can be for any of a number of reasons.

A few common reasons for such a rejection can be that

* Your petition was badly worded or unclear, or
* You asked for something that no Catholic Saint would endorse (such as gaining the ability to rob and steal in order to get money), or
* Perhaps you asked for something that violates the laws of physics (like gaining money by being able to fly and charging admission to your performances).
* It could also be that you asked for something Saint tExpedite is simply not willing to do. After all, Saints pick who they are willing to work with. (And this is why we do not say, "I am using Saint Expedite" but rather say, "I am working with Saint Expedite" or "I am petitioning Saint Expedite.")

I would start by rewriting the petition, then prepare the candle, pray to Saint Expedite with a sincere prayer and the need for this request, then light the candle and pray over it daily as it burns.

If the petition is not answered, or the same candle issues happen, I would not try again, but consider this a task he is not willing to work with. You will want to try a new spell.

@JayDee You are very informative. You answered a question I had about how many coins to put on St. Expedite's pound cake. And to say I 100% agree with and feel it needs to be said about how to properly address talking about spirits one is working with...not using. Many people say unintentionally the rudest things about spirits they are working with. This is not microwave magic nor a vending machine.

Hello to The Red Queen 911. I love your screen name, and welcome you to the Forum.

Now, about the idea of "using" saints. I have wandered through lots of magical circles and groups, and seen many customs. This goes beyond Saint Expedite (sorry, Mods!), but what I have noticed is this:

Some, but not all Catholics say, "I am using Saint Expedite."
This expression is more common among Latin-American Catholics.

Protestants never say, "I an using Jesus."
They "call on Jesus" or "ask Jesus to come by here."

Jews never say, "I am using God."
They "pray to God" or "implore God."

Wiccans never say, "I am using the Goddess."
They "call on the Goddess."

Norse Pagans never say, "I am using Thor."
They toast Thor with mead, and "ask Thor for help."

Buddhists never say, "I am using Avalokitesvara."
They "seek refuge with Avalokitesvara."

These are generalizations and not true of every group I have attended. If I am wrong, please correct me kindly.

coastwitch,

I am sure people have accidentally stated with good intent "I am using Saint (name), or god/goddess (name), ancestors (name) etc. I assume they mean they are working with them, but we have to make sure we are intentional with our language. Many people come to this forum to learn about hoodoo and traditions, and we try to guide them in using wording.

Wording can be the difference between a prayer being answered or ignored, said yes or no.

It is also important to think about the language and the meaning of the words we use, "using" a Saint is more of a I tell you and you do for me, where a petition or ask you, it is a relationship. This work is largely the connection between us and our spirits.

As an Italian from NYC who's family immigrated from Italy I can tell you I have never said, or heard, I am "using" a saint, it has always been " I am petitioning, I am asking, I am working with". This focuses on the relationship between me (or the petitioner) and the saint (or spirit) in the work.

@Coastwitch..... actually I've been around quite a few scenes too...and your generalization are wrong about Catholics and wiccans. I am not going to feed into this too much so I edited myself and this post.....

I hope my statement wasn't offensive to you. And Latinos are usually the most respectful about their language towards spirits they are working with. I try not to generalize people as saying "all people do" as that is illogical.

I plan on doing it tomorrow when I realized it’s his day of celebration, praise, and recognition. Thank you in advance for your time and assistance.

MasterHealer18,

You can, there is no rule against it, though it is a day of honoring the saint. I would start by asking St. Expedite if he will work on your situation and give you a sign you will understand. Set a Chime candle for him with a glass of water and watch and wait for a sign. Then based on the sign determine if it is appropriate to work with him.

The Lucky Mojo Radio Show just did an episode on St. Expedite, I strongly suggest you listen to it, it is filled with fantastic information:

For quite a few years now, I have been setting up a special altar to honor Saint Expedite. There are people from all over who will send in petitions to have placed upon the altar. Nothing wrong with that or petitioning him on his feast day. One thing I will invite you to consider is to first take the time to pray to the speedy saint. Take time to give him thanks for all the people he has come through. Give some offerings of red candles, pound cake, water, cinnamon candies for example. These offerings are not payment for your petition, these are in honor to him.

After you have taken that time, then speak with your petition and then tell him what you will be giving him in return when he comes through.

Just wanted to say Thank you to Saint Expedite and those that encouraged me to petition him. Although I did not recieve the answer I thought I would, I did see a clearer path on how I could make some personal changes to reach my goals. I see that prayer and magic work when you work along side of it. So thank you for the clarity and the courage to tread forward.

Fantastic that your prayer was answered! St Expedite is a wonderful saint and can be petitioned for assistance. Lucky Mojo sells products for Expedite and The Missionary Independent Church burns candles for those who need them. You can order a candle and have one set with the church, while you burn yours at home they burn one for you, this is called backing up your work. If you cannot burn candles you can have the MISC burn them and do the prayers during the time the candle is being burned on your behalf.

If you cannot burn them at home yourself, you can also ask MISC to burn them for you, which comes with a candle report.

Hello all! I am long time Lucky mojo customer. I recently starting working with St. Expedite. This is the first time. I am in the loop and kind of confused on if he is helping my situation or making it worst. I petitioned him to help me with money matters. Haven't received any money since I started working with him. I have had a couple of unpleasant dreams since working with him to. I recalled that he is called a trickster spirit? Anyone know why he is considered a trickster?

Prosperousone,

Saint Expedite is a saint who is petitioned for fast and quick answers. As with all saints, he does not accept all work. I have not heard of him doing the opposite, IE you petition for money and he takes all your money. If you do not pay him there have been rumors, though I have never experienced this, that he will take it back from you. I have seen people not pay the saint and then they and others won't work for you anymore. Fulfilling a promise is called Ex voto- and offering to the saint for answering your prayer.

He is associated with god's in other religions like Santeria where he takes the role of a trickster, both Expedite and Elegua are known for open roads, crossroads, and yes tricksters. You can see on this page several saints are associated with that as well in that religion such as Saint Peter and Saint Michael. https://www.luckymojo.com/sevenafricanpowers.html

Hello 👋 thanks for a reply. I have paid him after a week of petitioning him, even though the financial situation hasn't gotten any better. I really can't tell if he is blocking the finances or helping. I blew out his candle today to end the work. I am so curious on why he is considered a trickster?

Prosperousone ,

To clarify a saint either assists you or they do not, since he did not answer your petition, he is not willing to work with you on this situation. You certainly can try again in the future.

I posted a link about other gods in other religions synchronized with the Saints. This happened with the diaspora of African culture and religion as they came to America and were forced to practice Christianity. The similar attributes of the saint took on the similarity of the god they worshiped. For example Mary is known as the Star of the Sea or Stella Maris, in Santeria she is associated with Yemaya a god in Santirea also associated with motherhood, women, and the sea.

In this same example above, St. Expedite has been associated with a trickster spirit from the religion to adapt him into the culture at the time to accept him without persecution. As I posted above, several saints are also associated with this including Michael, Peter, and even Anthony, (along with Expedite). As an individual who was raised Catholic I do not associate them with those gods of another religion and therefore do not consider him a trickster spirit. This however is a decision based on your practice and decisions.

Hello. I may have already told this story, so forgive me if I have.

In 2014, I promised St. Expedite I would give $50 a month to Catholic Charities in exchange for a 15% raise. A few weeks later, the Executive Assistant of the VP announced she was leaving and the VP asked me to assist him and offered a 15% raise. This VP had been bullying and harassing me for for years. I asked what would happen to my existing job and he said not to worry about it (meaning I would be doing both jobs). My petition was for a raise in my existing job, not a promotion. But the fact that the percentage was exactly the same was undeniable. I’ve given $50 a month to Catholic Charities on and off (more on than off) since then with mixed results on petitions.

I restarted a monthly donation beginning on 12/15 and I currently have a petition to St. Expedite going. It’s been a couple days so I don’t think he’s going to help. How do I heal this relationship? I've apologized profusely and given offering, but I don't know what else to do.

I really need his help and I feel like him providing that promotion wasn’t a fulfillment of my wish since the circumstances were very difficult and not at all what I had in mind.

I know now how important it is to be specific with petitions and not make promises I can't keep. Thank you.
Thank you Saint Expedite, St. Joseph, and St. Jude

littlewing --

This story points out some of the idiosyncrasies of working with Saint Expedite -- do not pay him in advance, word your petition VERY explicitly, do not make a promise you cannot keep, never make an open-ended ("forever") contract with anyone, and always keep your promise to him.

I suggest that you thank him for what he has done, don't argue about the 15% raise being not exactly what you wanted (because it was exactly what you asked for), make a final payment, and let him rest. Apply to a different saint, for now at least. Expedite has a reputation as a trickster, your know. Shake hands and say goodbye -- and let your story be a warning to all: Be careful what you ask for -- you might just get it.

Good luck.

Thank you, Miss Cat. He actually came through for me last week after I resumed my donations. I received a loan that allowed me to pay my rent. Even though I specifically asked for a grant and not a loan, I consider it a win. I gave him red roses and pound cake. How should I proceed?

Hello everyone, I petitioned St Expedite to help me get approved for an apartment. However I just realized I did not include the information of the landlord, just the full address of the apartment.

Is this enough information for him or should I redo it? I have worked with him in the past with great success but not sure if he’d need more information for this.

Thanks in advance!

Wanderlustxo --

If you have worked with him before, just approach him as you would a trusted friend with the added information, either spoken or written. Expedite is a sainted spirit, not a machine to be started up by turning a key. One of the most important reasons that spiritual workers apply to intercessors and intermediators such as spirits, saints, and ancestors, is that they care for us and will help us.

Good luck!

Thank you so much for your message and for the reminder that spirits are our friend and not just someone we turn on & off like a machine. Thank you truly! I often show my appreciation to St Expedite by giving him offerings just because he is so amazing! I was overthinking it & this just gave me perspective.
