Hi everyone. I am doing a "pay me" candle spell for 9 days. Yesterday I felt sick and was unable to do the spell. Can I continue today or I have to start a new candle? Thank you very much

Hello Keira28,

You can continue today and see what kind of results you get, but don't be surprised if you have to repeat the spell. Skipping a day in a 9 day spell is disruptive to the energy of your spell, so your effort may have been disrupted. Definitely avoid doing that when possible.

I was curious about what other practitioners do in regard to spell work during a Mercury Rx. I assume they carry on with spell work regardless, but I wondered if any do any work during that time at all.

I'm about to experiment with using Mercury oil to anoint an offering to Mercury to ease the Retrograde effects; thinking an orange candle might do along with perhaps a Psalm associated with asking for Mercy. I tend to look at the energy more as 'trickster' energy than anything purely malelific.

Aside from this idea what do other practitioners do to alleviate retrograde symptoms.

I do drawing work if needed but I go into knowing results may be delayed. Uncrossing and removing work I do as planned. I tend to wear Mercury oil on retrogrades and especially on Wednesdays. I hope your experiment is successful! I love working with the Seals of Solomon. Maybe you could select a pentacle of mercury as well if you want to work toward a specific goal.

Mercury retrograde is a time that usually kills me! And we have to add this weekend the upcomming eclipse. It's a new Moon eclipse, normally a time to start things, but not now in my opinion, eclipses usually take stuff away. I was born two days before a new Moon eclipse and normally in my life projects and a lot of things tend to finish abruptly in a very disruptive and surprisingly way, specially in job and career issues.

I have made a reversing spell this week, I had it planned for a future but I woke up in the morning a few days ago and had the chance so I went straight to the point and performed it. I did not pay attention to the upcomming eclipse and the retro motion. Curious the fact that I made this recently as the planet is going backwards (in a metaphorical way), and although still not oficially in retrograde, is in the shadow zone.

Hello,
I have a busy household so the times I have free for my candles and spell work are very erratic and limited. Sometimes there is only free time during the day but I have gotten it in my head that this work needs to be done under the light of the moon, or in the night time anyway.am I wrong about that? Is there a time of day that is right or wrong? (I'm working on healing and protection as well a banishing spell in the near future)

I could kick myself. I am doing a 7 day ritual for love with Adam and Eve Root and I meant for it to end on the full moon. I somehow got my "start day" wrong so now it won't end on the full moon. Should I just start over or press through?

Hello,

I was wondering if when I was born has any bearing on what type of things I should be using.
I'm a Scorpio born on Friday the 13th on a full moon.

Should this lean my decisions either way of what things I should use? Is so, what do you reccomend?

Hello BluesMan,

You can add Scorpio spiritual supplies to any rootwork you are doing for yourself, whether for success, money or luck, just as a few examples.

I’m doing a solar year return for a client and would like to use hoodoo as remediation. Using the elements of the signs as basis: I want to flush out more hoodoo elemental remediations. Brainstorming.
Fire signs: candle work, hot spices
Air signs: Incense, prayers, psalms
Water signs: herbal baths, Holy water on altar, oils, bath crystals dissolved in washing
Earth signs: Graveyard dirt, burial in yard, crossroads dirt, Lodestone work, magnetic sand, herbal doll baby, mojo, talismans, stones or crystals, coins, salt, brick dust

Ie Mars square Saturn/Pluto/Jupiter in workings would use candle work and graveyard dirt as a basis for the spell. Thank you

You could certainly give those ideas a try and see how they work out for your client. Personally, I wouldn't exclude elements from other signs but using your ideas as the basis for rootwork is interesting. Keep us posted on how it goes.

From next week on, I intend on burning 3 candles per week. My question is, which days would be suitable for a citizenship matter? I was thinking Mon - Wednesday - Friday?

I would choose Tuesday (ruled by Mars, good day for taking action), Thursday (ruled by Jupiter, for justice) and Saturday (ruled by Saturn, for completion of your task).

That's what I would do.

As I'm sure you know, picking the best election without seeing your birth chart would be tricky, however you this might help.
Look for elections where the Moon is well aspected in relation to your Ascendant or Midheaven. Since you're familiar with houses, I'd try to look for trines or sextiles to those points when the Moon is transiting your 2nd, 8th, or 10th houses.

Ideally, you might want to have an astrologer take a look at your transit chart to help you select a more personalized election.

Today we embark on one of the least liked event in astrology, Mercury Retrograde. What do you do during mercury retrograde? What work do you do to minimize the effects of this transition?

I personally like to use Lucky Mojo Mercury oil or Van Van oil, I anoint myself with the oil to mitigate the effects of the transition. I also burn a 7 day candle such as Mercury or Van Van one each week during the retrograde.

Thank you Miss Athena and I understand.

I just wanted to give a quick update,

Me and my boyfriend have since then reconciled but things are a little rocky because we both contracted covid and can't see each for a while longer. In spite of that I still have my spell(made August 11th) and wanted to lay my trick and deploy the remains the night before he comes over but because we have to quarantine it will be a while.

I was hoping that since tonight is a full moon I should do it today so it can be in place whenever he comes over, but after reading the article on the first page and other links in this group I see other factors play a role as well. Thehe days of the week for the spells and which moon phase would work best.

I'm leaning into A New Moon Sep 7th as a new start for us but more so into Sep 11th because it falls on a Friday (love and relationship spells) and there's A Waxing Crescent Moon (release my intentions) that same night.

I originally made the spell on August 11th (has since been in the fridge) and it's just a matter of timing of when to set things into motion. I don't want to wait too long and not have the spell work for what I intended it for.

Some people follow the days of the week, the planetary hours of the day, moon phase, some do not follow them, others follow the ones they can at the time of doing the work. There is no set rule. If you need to do work, say court case, but it falls on the wrong moon phase you would likely do the work anyway because of how important it is. If you were planning a love spell and its not a pressing issue, you may wait for the waxing moon, on a Friday in the hour of Venus.

A Jupiter Retrograde may influence money but I see it more effecting your luck, how you feel about your own growth, ability to bring in and success. You may feel stalled or reverting back to old ways during this time. Van Van oil and Jupiter oil would be a great mix to wear, burn on candles during a transition.

Yes it would be a good idea to start after the Mercury Retrograde to do work for positive change in your life. You can follow many things to enhance your work including: planetary hours of the day, days of the week, moon phases, planetary movements.

There are a lot of things one can consider when doing work, the timing, the moon phase, planetary movements. Some work with as many as they can, others do work when they need to and do not stress over those items. Today is a full moon and I want to perform a love spell tonight (with figure candles). However is it a bad idea given the moon will now enter its waning period? I had heard in the past it is only a good idea to perform love spells on and between New Moon to Full Moon. I want to make sure it is successful.

You will be fine if you COMPLETE the spell work before the full of the moon. Consult an online almanac for the time. The time of a spell's completion sets the tone of the work.

To work for love during the waning of the moon is also easy -- petition or pray for a diminishing end to loneliness, for all love rivals to abandon your loved one, and for an end to hestitation or insecurity.

Hi everyone! The New Moon Solar Eclipse today (April 30th) is a rare one because it is also a Black Moon. I have heard this is a great time for witches, spell casting, magic, etc. Is this true? Does anyone have experience working with the black moon in years past? Thank you in advance

PrayPrepareProsper,

Some people work with the planets some do not. Some work with specific moons others dont. It is a preference, and also does have a long history in Hoodoo (working with moon phases).

I am not sure which tradition you work with, most Hoodoo workers would not call themselves a witch as it is considered negative in the African American community. You can read in Hyatt where spells are listed to stop a "witch".

That being said, planetary movements do cause time periods where energy can be enhanced and used in spellwork, or where the timing is seen as negative. One such exists when working with the Moon as it changes signs on a new moon, and it moves into a favorable sign, this s called a opportunity period, one which work can be done and enhance the ability of your desire. Such is true for a moon in Taurus, Cancer, Sagittarius and Pisces.

That being said an eclipse is generally seen as negative. It could be a good astrological timing to do cursing or dark work that you and to create an extra boost of dark energy in your favor.

I moved your question and JayDee's reply from the Moon Phases thread to the Eclipses and Retrogrades thread. For the most part, both Retrogrades and Eclipses are not considered favourable for starting a new spell, but they may work well for the culmination point of a negative or cursing spell.

I had wanted to light a 7-day candle tonight for a positive spell (Come to Me) to end around next Sunday, the full moon, but I just realized there is an eclipse that night. Would it be bad “spiritual weather” if the candle happened to end on an eclipse? I know you wouldn’t start it then. And I saw Miss Cat mention a negative spell ending on an eclipse is fine.

A 7-day vigil candle is also a spell. Most 7-days actually burn between 5-6, some 7. This is due to manufacture and size of candles. I think the candle likely not end on that day. You also have a Mercury Retrograde going on at this time. I would determine if I set the candles based on my need, if this is urgent work I would set them, if it can wait for a better time period then put it off till that time.

While the full moon peaked on Sunday May 15, I have come across many indications that the full moon operates for three days, that is the day before, day of, and day after the peak point, which is usually the indicated day on most lunar calendars.

With the eclipse, if you don't want to set your light during the eclipse day, you can start the day after, At that point the eclipse influence is starting to wane, and the moon still appears full for that night, only rising later.

You could also choose a different moon timing to go with your work. Perhaps the waning moon to overcome obstacles to your Come to Me, or if you can wait, for the waxing moon to strength the magnetic attraction.

Astrological knowledge of the sun sign of the client and others concerned in a rootwork case -- including family members, co-workers, or relationship partners -- is not used by every reader or fortune teller, but, speaking only for myself, i really like it when my clients have the birth dates at hand, so i can calculate sun-signs on the fly and get a basic feel for the rough aspects between the solar energies of all involved.

Of course i can do a reading without that information, but it does add a lot of background for -->this<-- reader, at least. So don't be surprised if, when you call on me for a card reading, pendulum dowsing, or photo-psychometry, i ask for sign signs and birth dates of those involved.

You can do whatever you want, no one will stop you from doing work. Some workers do not do spells during a mercury retrograde, others do while adding elements to mitigate the effects of the retrograde on their work. Being commanding is a form of communication spell, for them to listen to you, I would plan and prepare for some possible delays due to the transition.

I agree with Jaydee, you can do spells during retrograde, there are 6 planets in retrograde right now some of them will not turn direct for months.

Only thing when doing spells during Mecury retrograde I have found is be very exact in your petition. You may need to give a bit more umph like if just do candle, that candle better be rolled in oils and herbs. Before you may do simple prayer, now you might want to use Psalms or bible verse.

The old adage is "Anything started while Mercury is retrograde will have to be done over, done twice, or fixed right after it is done." I have seen the truth of this many dozens of times.

So, for instance, i was taught not to start a NEW run of candles or a NEW project when Mercury is retrograde, and i carry that advice as golden.

Plan well -- you can look for upcoming retrogrades on the internet easily -- and start your project BEFORE the retrograde begins, then continue through it like a champ.

The world has natural ebbs and flows of energy. Don't fight the wind, don't buck the tide, don't think that you can stand against cosmic energy storms.

There is ONE well-known exception to this rule:

People BORN with Mercury retrograde can get through Mercury retrograde times with less trouble and less damage than others -- or even NO trouble or damage.

Know your own birth chart.

I moved your post to the topic of Astrology and Horoscopes as you are asking for magical advice on working within your zodiac sign and solar sign.

In addition, you may also add Zodiac oil or your specific sign oil to candles when working them, famous workers use to call this a Zodiac candle and it represented the person the magic was for, often the color was representative of that sign too.

One more thing: I’m wondering about Astro timing. I know magic isn’t usually a good idea on an eclipse, but I heard Conjureman say that in some Arab cultures they would use a lunar eclipse to prepare curses.

With it being a solar eclipse, is that a big difference? I was thinking about preparing the spell during the solar eclipse in the day, then at midnight praying psalm 140 over it and throwing it in the freezer at midnight.
