Hello!:) so i have a dilemma. I am planning on doing a love me spell. I will also be using mercury oil with this work. Now, my original plan was to do it this coming Friday(waxing moon ) (sept 18th.)early morning. But i just found out that we go into mercury retrograde this Thursday. My work is to lure back someone from my past, and ive already completed the reconciliation spell kit and honey jar back in june,and u continue to work the honey jar.so my question is if i do my love spell this Friday, will it cause my target to focus on loving me more/ the love he had for me, or is it best to start before the retrograde cycle? Hello there!

Is it true that the time between two eclipses in "potent" for magic work? We recently had a solar eclipse and there's a lunar eclipse coming up on the 27th/28th. So, both eclipses are happening in the same month. If it is true that it really is a potent time, and since the moon is waxing, is it correct to conclude that this is a good time for doing love magic? Or any type of "growth" work, for that matter?

I bought a Reconcilliation spell kit from LM and have been working it with the latest moon phase. I have two questions I've not been able to find the answer to.

1) The spell needs to be worked each day before dawn. No problem - I get up early and do it. As luck would have it, I've not run into any Void Of Course (VOC) issues. However, tomorow I see that the moon is VOC during the time I normally work my spell and candle. I do plan to get up even earlier to ensure that my work is started before VOC. Does my candle need to have completely burned before VOC starts? I know how long my candles have been burning for, so I'm just trying to plan ahead.

2) The last portion of my work takes place a few days later, again before dawn and I notice that the VOC period is from 12:03am until sometime in the afternoon. Again, does the work just need to be started before VOC (meaning I would start it at midnight instead of 5am)? Should I wait an additional day to complete the work?

Just don't start a spell when there is a void of course. OR if the void of course last longer than the candle will be lit

Now, many rootworkers don't adhere to this (and are still successful). So, it is your choice.

Hello, I hope I am sending this to the right forum. I cannot find any information in the forum as to what is the best DAY to do the following spells. Are any of these spells I'm going to do ok to perform during the day. Because that's the only time I'm alone during the day. My apology but I am not really good or does not understand moon phases per se.

1) BLOCKBUSTER for general purpose to clear anything in my way.
= I'm anointing RED candle with oil and pray
2) CIGARETTE spell
3) VINEGAR JAR
4) HONEY JAR

Greetings to all.

There is an aspect in my chart that I would like not to remediate, but to enhance as much as possible. Hopefully the moderation will nevertheless find it fitting for this trend.

I have an opposition between Venus in Aries in the VI house and Jupiter in Libra in the XII, which throughout my life has granted me the sympathy and favor of teachers, professors, and institutional figures of authority in general. I would like to ask for some suggestions, if I may, to enhance this aspect, to make it stronger. Perhaps by using planetary seals in the composition of a talisman? perhaps by incorporating luckymojo's Venus and Jupiter oils into it as well?

Or perhaps I should just fix an attraction mojo and include these aspects, entwined somehow, but with the formal structure of an attraction mojo prepared to fit this situation - such as lodestones, deer's tongue, cinnamon etc.

Please. Any suggestions or general notions on how to accomplish this are welcome.

First of all, thank you so much for being so gracious in answering all of my questions lately. I appreciate it.

There is an aspect in my chart that grants me the favor of authority figures. Namely, that one opposition between Venus in Aries in the VIth house and Jupiter in Libra in the XIIth. I would like to enhance this aspect, to make it stronger by means of magic work, possibly by crafting a talisman of sorts using the planetary aspects - the planetary oils lucky mojo carries, for instance, plus the planetary seals, were examples of possible materials, though I wouldn't know how to compose the planetary talisman itself, and therein lies my question.

As a second option I considered preparing a mojo to attend the same purpose - to grant me sympathy and affection of authority figures in general, and therein examples of materials I could think of to attain such a goal. Deer's tongue to improve my own communication, lodestones and cinnamon for the attraction aspect etc. More suggestions are welcome, of course. My second question was if it is valid to add the planetary components I considered for the first potential talisman into that prospect of a mojo - planetary seals, lucky mojo's planetary oils - and how to fit them in such a mojo, instead of preparing the planetary talisman I had considered first.

But perhaps I am overthinking, and all I need is an attraction mojo in general, aiming at authorities figures, without an actual need to include the astrological subject, even if to enhance that quality displayed in my chart. But making an inclusion of the planetary aspects does seem a bit more...intuned with me, perhaps? more fitting to my own energy?

Please let me know what you think, and I do so appreciate the consideration.

I do not do much work with astrology myself so I may not be the best person to answer. I am also a little confused by your question. I have always thought oppositions in a chart showed areas that were somewhat of a struggle for people. However, if what you are trying to do is increase your influence over people in positions of authority I would recommend starting with a Commanding or Compelling type of mojo and make your target people in positions of authority.

As to how to include astrology products, I believe maybe Mercury or Jupiter products would be helpful in increasing your ability to communicate and have authority of your own.

You might also get some coaching from a person who is an astrologist as well such as Miss Cat or Deacon Millet or any of the other readers and rootworkers at AIRR (http://www.readersandrootworkers.org).

Your advice does seem quite reasonable, thank you. As to the meaning of oppositions in a chart, I've seen it interpreted in ambiguous ways, yes. I should definetly consult with an astrologist, nevertheless, and I do so appreciate the recommendation.

An opposition between two planets on a single horoscope (such as Mars opposed to Venus on Joe's chart) or an opposition between two planets in two horoscopes (such as Joe's Mars opposed to Bill's Mars) is just what it sounds and looks like -- two forces as exemplified by those planets staging a tug of war, vying for supremacy, or creating negative energetic speaces between them.

Your opposition between Venus in Aries in the VIth house and Jupiter in Libra in the XIIth house does show that you can use your personal power and initiative over weak, negotiable, gentle, and compromise-prone authority figures, especially in job situations.

Always remember that the native is in the center of the chart and literally cannot see both opposing planets at once and that at the time a horoscope was cast (for instance at a time of birth or when a wedding was held or when a qestion was posed), one or both of the opposed planets may additionally have received strengenting energy from aanother planet (for instance, Joe's Mars might be trine his Jupiter) or it might have received negative energy from another planet (for instance, Joe's Mars might be conjunct Saturn).

Likewise, as time goes by and other planets come into play through transits or progression, first one, then the other oppositional planet may show supremacy. This will cause the strength or immediacy of the opposition to come to the fore or to recede in importance at different times in life.

Creating a talisman via the traditional method of electional astrology -- when the respective planets are in good positions via transit -- is not common in hoodoo, nor in any form of folk magic. It is a part of ceremonial magic, of course, but that is not what we are teaching here.

Using the respective seals of the planets, however, is found in several types of folk magic, and you can cut the seals out and work with them as petition papers, if you wish. Likewise the oils, powders, incenses and herbs of the planets and signs might well be used in crafting siple spells.

Further instructions cannot be easily described in sufficient depth a simple folk magical forum such as this, but i hope this provided some insight, anyway.

It was spot on. A perspective from a folk magic point of view was just what I was expecting, actually. Disposing the cut-out seals on a favorable manner, use them as petition papers, annointing them with oils. It is so much more my speed than complicated ceremonial magic concoctions.

I was planning on doing a spell for my son taking his school entrance exam using Clarity, King Solomon Wisdom, and Crown of Success oils. I was going to do this on a Sunday for success. Found out today that he will be taking the exam this Saturday. Would Wednesday or Thursday be the better day? Part of me says just do it tomorrow but I have a feeling I may be performing a lot of these spells over the next few years so I might as well ask what the 2nd best day for success on an exam would be.

Hello All,

I am a Gemini so Mercury is my ruling planet. I am scheduled for plastic surgery on Jan. 16th. This is not a cosmetic procedure but rather a reconstruction one. I have been waiting for this surgery for almost a year, during which I visited the surgeon every two months for assessment of my tissues' readiness for surgery. Last December, he told me the great news that I was finally ready and decided on the date of surgery. This was awesome news for me as my eyes have been really deteriorating because of my lids inability to close all the way during sleep. This causes extreme dryness and resulted in other complications because I do have issues with my eyes in general.

Now, Mercury is and will still be going retrograde during and after surgery. Is there anything at all that I can do to make sure all goes well during and after surgery? I mean, these are my eyes! And my face! But, I really need to get this procedure done.

Kindly let me know your thoughts and advice ASAP as I am only 3 days away from it.

Dear BCAC,

I was taught that when planets are affecting one another badly in terms of transits, it is a good idea to seek a harmonious third lanet to reconcile them and to burn the three candles in a trinity (on a triangular sheet of paper, with a petition for reduction of the harm or negativity and a restoration of harmony.

In your case, you tell us that Saturn is negatively affecting Mercury, but without a look at your whole natal chart and the current transits, i could not select a third planet for the harmonization. Any good astrologer should be able to do so. Try Deacon Millett, Professor Ames, or others at AIRR who take such cases. I do too, but i am currently working toward the 2016 Hoodoo Heritage Festival and am not seeing clients until afer that is over.

I am not well versed on Astrology but I know that March until May 2016 there is and will be a lot of planets in retrograde, conjunctions, etc...causing havoc in relationships, money, career, etc.

Is there any rootwork, candle, protection, blessings or magic to help soothe the what is happening? Anything around relationships and keeping arguments, etc from flaring up with be appreciated.

Depending on which planets are going retrograde and how they affect one's individual horoscope, it is a common practice to light a candle in the name of the affected planet(s) to strengthen it its activity in your life during the period of retrograde motion.

Planetary hours come under the heading of "time of the day or night," but see also our thread on planetary influences for days of the week, since it is common to perform work with double planetary influences, such as "On Jupiter's day in the hour of Jupiter."

The planetary hours are a system of dividing the day and night that date back to classical times. Instead of 24 hours, the time is divided into spans ruled by each of the seven classical planets. It is a wonderful way to time spells. Simple mechanical planetary hour calculators were sold in hoodoo shops and via popular magazines as early as the 1920s. Nowadays most people find the times online.

I've never really took the time to learn about the planetary timing but I was listening to luckymojo radio talk and they mentioned that the moon was void. How do I know when it's void? That probably explains why my 6 inch free stand candles have been coming out kinda weird today... Could that be it? Because they were clean burns all night and yesterday...

The void of course happens quite frequently.

I don't start spells when there's a void of course. But, most spells will be in progress when there is a Void of course. Not to worry. As Long as you didn't start it then.

Now, many rootworkers do not adhere to the void of course.

So, I wouldn't worry about it.

Nevertheless, you would have to google a site that tells you when it is void of course.

Also, if I start a 9 day candle during the full moon, but the last days of the candle fall on the wanning moon, is there a problem?

Many rootworkers do not work with the moon phases.

But, if you want to work with the moon phases, then, these type of spells would start on the new moon and work toward the full moon.

Others believe that full moon activity lasts for 3 days and they work these type of spells up to the third day of the full moon

But, this is entirely up to you

Unaware of the Mercury Retrograde and its affects, I have been working for communication these last few days. Including ordering 3x Mercury candles (and Attraction and Influence) to be burnt at MISC.
The Mercury candles have only just been ordered a few days ago.

Will it be worth calling and asking if they can burn all three at once so they all start before the retrograde? Or seeing as it's a run and they're currently being burnt one after the other and generally the work had started before the retrograde (I believe they already lit the first candle) it should still be okay?
Reading through this now has got me quite worried. The person I'm working on will be leaving the workplace just as the retrograde finishes so working on him after won't be as helpful (since as I have no means to contact him).

EDIT: Sorry I have only just seen this post. So I suppose in this case the 3x Mercury vigils can actually help me continue the Attraction/Influence work I had started before the retrograde..

Since Mercury Retrograde lasts 3 weeks, do energies slow down during this time since no spells are to be performed and no candles are to be lit for communication and love? What can be done to at least attempt to keep things strong between yourself and your target? I know these things aren't always guaranteed but I thought I'd ask since I am not knowledgeable about it.

Miss cat says that reconciliation spells can be performed during retrograde.

Also, it NEVER hurts to perform Novenas during this time. I can't imagine that God or a Saint would say: "Well, Mercury is in Retrograde so I can't answer your prayers".

So I always recommend this as being a perfect time for Novenas or just prayers to God or the Saints

Natal, transiting, and comparison horoscopes are all used by practitioners of hoodoo, and working spells by the lunar signs and Lunar phases, as when as Solar markers, is very old-time work and still quite common to this day. Horoscopes and other forms of astrological timing are not "irrelevant." Not everyone uses them, but many do.

I should've wrote in earlier but anyways, does the supermoon have any strong effects on love spells? Of course tonight is the super moon, bigger than usual, I'm just curious coz I still plan on doing something.

I believe I may be too late!

It's a full moon. Work it as you would any full moon. Hopefully, because it's super, it will give your spell a little more power.

Hi All -

Doc Murphy here.

Ok, i gotta question: Venus is Retrograde right now. There's a lot here in this thread about magic during a Mercury Retrograde, but what about when Venus is Retrograde? Is there information in the hoodoo tradition about this troubling transit?

Disclosure:
1.i'm having love troubles again (what else, right?)
2. Venus is Ret in my birth chart; i typically have my best love luck during this transit, but this one's the worst ever..my sweetie is mired in his memories of loves past (abuse & pain), and he's grown afraid of a future with me...i guess that shouldnt be surprising during this transit, but man...this is awful right now..
3. What are any of your opinions about doing magic of any kid during Venus Retrograde, especially love & reconciliation magic? Have any of you had good results? Bad rezults? No results?
4. If i did decide to to love magic during this transit, what should i be wary of? What should i try to do, and to avoid? Should i leave it to a professional?

I'd appreciate feedback on this - i feel i should do something, but i also feel just frozen and immobilized magically.. i have a reading set for saturday with my wonderful AIRR friend on specifics, but i am interested to hear what others of you think of magic during this transit.
