I was raised in a very traditional Chinese family- and I was actually very surprised when I read some of the articles on this website and noticed how similar some of the practices were! I decided to break away from the Buddhist practices when I was 12 and started going to church on my own... but something didn't "feel right." I did not understand a lot of the teachings from the church I attended, and when I was 16, I decided to turn to Wicca. That didn't last long... I turned back to reading the Bible and just followed whatever I felt Spirit was guiding me to do. A few years later, I found this website. I've been reading many of the articles, placed several orders, bought a couple of books (Valentina Burton's book- absolutely amazing!) and I have to say, this "feels" great.
I did feel a little left out and weird over the fact that I don't have ties to my blood family- my parents were abusive and my grandparents disowned me for being American. I made a post about it on a Facebook ATR group and was advised to call upon and work with my ancestor spirits, who may actually feel more affectionately towards me than perhaps my immediate relatives do. I am in the process of putting an altar up in their honor.
I've lurked this website for quite a while now, and I would really like to be a part of this community. I feel like there's a much higher purpose to 'Lucky Mojo' than just 'selling merchandise' and I would love to continue reading and learning. My goal is to hopefully one day be able to be one of Cat's students, once I am able to save up the money and when the prerequisites are met.
Otherwise, thank you for allowing me to join this wonderful community. I hope to learn
