I appreciate the ability to be on this forum and for your hosting it. A little about me is that I'm a rather reserved, laid-back person so I won't speak a whole lot but I am listening to everything. (This post may be a bit long, but this is not my usual routine)

My family originates from SC and those same elders would scoff at the word hoodoo as they had never heard of such a thing; but my grandmother (and aunts) taught me to read the behavior of birds, how to decipher dreams and visions, kept various parts of each of us in jars which she would take and run into the back room when one of us fell ill. She was very insistent on the direction of my sweeping, taught spiritual baths, and various other traditions that I accepted and learned begrudgingly in my youth, but now I recognize in middle age as pearls of wisdom.
I would not call myself a rootworker/conjurer, etc in the sense that I do not work for clients, I only work for myself and my family and teach what I know to my children and loved ones. There is still much to learn and always room for more and that is what I am actively accomplishing here and in my practical life (offline). My children are now adults and I think I work more now than when they were children! They keep me on my toes. I participate in ancestor veneration and I'm also a Lucumi practitioner (kept very separate), and so I do go to my ancestors for guidance and to stay connected daily, especially with these grown children who require intercession and favor. A mother's work will never be done even after my own death

Again I thank you all for this opportunity. I pray for the health of and blessings for everyone in this forum.
