Excited to have found you!

Unread post by moodye3 » Tue Aug 31, 2021 5:56 pm

Hello,

I asked my ancestors a few nights ago to lead me to a course or person who could help me learn more about Hoodoo Rootwork. I asked them after they helped me with a protection spell for my family in Louisana/Mississippi during hurricane Ida. I have been learning a lot from my friends locally and through my own studies. But I need something structured.

I am not sure how it happened but I just spent several hours on your website. Someone mentioned your website on Facebook today. I recognized the company name "Lucky Mojo" from a metaphysical store I worked at as a tarot reader. I have used your products from that store. I followed my intuition and now I am here.

I do not want to write you a full essay here but my life has been very strange and I am trusting my intuition right now. I was born under a full moon in Mississippi, and have spent my life moving around the United States with my mom. We have lived in Mississippi, Tennessee, New York, Maryland, Texas, and Florida. We traveled all over the country while I was a child/teenager. I am in my mid-twenties now and am currently working as an American History teacher. In my free time, I do tarot readings online. I am extremely passionate about ethnomusicology, history, magic, and genealogy.

I learned recently through my own research and DNA testing that I am a descendant of African Americans who were brought to the United States as slaves. I was trying to find out if I carried a gene for Alzheimer's through DNA testing. I found out that they were taken from Congo, Angola, Senegambia, and Guinea. My dad's side of the family would roll in their grave if they knew I was sharing this secret. They have been hiding it for a very long time. I have been very confused since I learned this part of my family's history. For most of my life, my family has dismissed my dark-skinned and curly-haired ancestors claiming we are Native American. This has not surprised my colleagues at work. I shared with them that this side of the family comes from the state of Kentucky.

My family is traditionally Christian, southern, and caucasian. They do not approve of my newfound interests. I have family members who might disown me when they learn I am practicing more than tarot. They have written me angry letters. They have asked me to burn all of my cards. I have ignored their requests in my search to learn more.

I was led to your website today and it fascinates me. I am grateful that you are sharing so many resources online. I want to learn about Hoodoo rootwork but I was unsure where to start. A lot of people share online that it is a closed practice and I was afraid to ask anyone local for help. I am still anxious when I tell people about the family secret I explained above. I was not raised as an African American. I am nervous to ask other people to learn more.

I am not sure if I am ready to take your course yet. But something in my soul is telling me it is the right fit. I want to start it within the next year. I am still new to all of this information and I am recovering from a financially rough year because of COVID. I understand that you have many requirements before enrollment. But I know that finding your website today was not a coincidence. I am so excited to have found a community of people who can teach me more.

Thank you,
moodye3

moodye3,

Welcome to the Forum and Lucky Mojo Curio Company! Thank you for sharing your background and path that brought you here. There is a lot to learn and a wealth of information on this Form, as well as the Lucky Mojo website. Feel free to read, ask question and post on the forum as you learn. You mentioned interest in the course, Miss Cat does require certain purchases prior to taking the course, these purchases will also help you learn about Hoodoo, the practice, which is an area you indicated of interest. You can learn more about the course here.

Course: https://www.luckymojo.com/mojocourse.html

You will be comforted to find that many (90%+) of Hoodoo practitioners identify as Christian have so going back well into the 1800's.

Here is the guidelines for posting on the forum.

Here is some info on how the forums are set up. It is divided into four major parts:

1) News and Announcements about the Lucky Mojo Curio Company and this site.

2) Lucky Mojo Spiritual Supplies and how to use them, listed in threads by product type and product title.

3) Life Conditions and Situations, with recommended Lucky Mojo products, spells, and advice.

4) The Online Hoodoo Community, including sites, events, and outreach sponsored by Lucky Mojo.

When you post, it helps your moderators, who are recompensed volunteers, if you post in the area of the board that is best suited to the archival of your question or comment. That way moderators will not have to move your post or merge it into ongoing threads.

If you can't find a post you made, it may have been moved or merged. Go to your profile by clicking on your name and "search recent posts" -- you will find it.

Within each board section there are STICKY threads -- ones that always stay "stuck" to the top. These are popular discussion-threads that you can read and add to if your questions or comments fall into one of these oft-broached topics. If you don't see a "sticky" that relates to your question, feel free to start a new thread in the relevant section.

We do have a few "thou shalt not" rules here, and they can be found in the Forum Rules link at the top of each page.

Most important for newbies are these five common errors to avoid:

1) Please do not come here asking for our formulas for conjure oils or for instructions on how to use spiritual supplies that you bought at a grocery store or at a competitor of ours; this is the Lucky Mojo Forum and is financially supported by the Lucky Mojo Curio Co.

2) Please do not post illegal copies of material from other web sites or from books.

3) Please do not post put-downs of any group of people based on their religion, race, or national origin, including derogatory comments about religions to which you may have previously been an adherent or comments in which you seek to falsely conflate any religion with the practice of evil sorcery.

4) Please do not start new topics; we have thousands of topic-threads already in place.

5) Please do not quote people by using the copy-paste function; it wastes space.
