My name is Jason, I'm 44 yrs. old. Originally from Alabama and currently in Oregon. I hike The Appalachian Trail in 2019. I met a group of guys on there and ended up finishing the trail with one of them. He offered me a job, that's how I ended up in Oregon. Also, I am engaged to his daughter, and we are expecting our first child in September. It a girl!!
I guess that's how I ended up on Lucky Mojo. The baby was at risk for an autoimmune issue that would cause a heart block. I was looking for a remedy in conjunction to modern medicine. I grew up in the Deep South in a very religious household. I turned away as to me it was just stories with no action involved. But outside the house, there were " Southern Traditions" or "Country Traditions", such as salt, brick dust, brooms/mirrors by door, bottle trees, nails, blue wash, herb hanging, candle work, hands and knots. This was seen in all kinds of people's houses. It was just a common Southern practice. So, I joined some groups and social media sites. I was turned away due to my heritage of a white person. I never felt unwelcome in any home or "Tradition" while growing up.
Anyway, I have done some bags, bathes, washes and bottles. I've read Hoodoo in Theory and Practice by Miss Cat. and loved it. I bought the Hoodoo Herb and Root Magic but haven't read it yet. I have downloaded the Harry Middleton Hyatt "Hoodoo - Conjuration - Witchcraft - Rootwork" and "Folklore from Adams County Illinois" and have read some of it. I find it hard to read on computer and the published books are crazy expensive, but I will finish it. I have bought some things from the store and love them so far.
I don't usually participate on social media or forums, but I felt compelled to do it. I have a good feeling about this community and keep coming back here to learn more.
This is my introduction to this forum!
Thanks
Jason

Not sure how I ended up here but I'm glad I did. The universe is weird like that.

Welcome to Lucky Mojo and the forum. Below are some great links to get you started. You mentioned several texts you are reading, I am giving a link to Lucky Mojo books which are authentic, based on real Hoodoo, and research-based. I also suggest Miss Cats' book (in this list) Hoodoo Herb and Root Magic, there is no other book in the market with that information.
