Those are fine substitutions; I like knot weed better than lemongrass. You can also use slippery elm.

Is the person you're doing this work for near the couple? They could bury it, and would also be closer to the work being done.

Is this a family member? If you do decide to plant one of these plants, that would also be a good time to collect some graveyard dirt if you have/want to start an ancestors' altar.

You really shouldn't put it somewhere where the kids can get at it... mojos are supposed to be private, and letting somebody else see it can harm or kill it as well. If you carry a purse or a bag, put it in there tucked away and I'd think that would be much safer and just as good.

I think you've got a handle on it; tie his picture to the candle with the string, place it over the petition, add any herbs/oils, and burn it. Dispose of the remains by burying them in your backyard or other appropriate manner.

If you're working with a rootworker, ask them, as they are more familiar with the situation and can also do a reading. Other than that, I would say either watch/wait or do specifically Separation/Break Up work if you feel the situation warrants. Good luck!

Even if you don't burn it, it's still a bundle of sage. You should be able to tell if it has lost its effectiveness, and if it hasn't, it is still usable for other methods.

If he willingly gave you money before he was worked on, then I would suggest all he likely needs is a cleansing and some protection from work in the future.

Ideally, you should lay hot foot while they are home, so that they step in it on their way out, but it should work no matter how they step in it. Sprinkle as you walk backward, focusing on your intent.

I would use House Blessing instead of Safe Travel if you plan on using the oil to anoint talismans, St. Christopher medals, St. Christopher candles, etc; House Blessing instead of St. Christopher if it is intended for dressing condition candles or the like.

Traditionally, candle altars are separated by type of work. Personally, I place vigils toward the back of the altar to burn, and do more interactive work in front of them. Hope that helps.
