PS. The name of this thread made me imagine making a Ouija-type board on a coffee table. Would need glass or something on top, but it would be awesome to cut or burn a divination board into a coffee table. My great grandmother worked alone with a Ouija board every night - said she talked to a little russian girl. Afterwards she'd always play solitaire. She used the board to the point where the letters were hard to see. She was pretty gifted - I would love to have inherited more of her gift. I was told she helped the police find dead bodies, but I don't have any hard evidence in that regard. (She was German and lived in rural central Texas).

Anyway, carvings in a coffee table sounds like a nice little project.

Good Morning All-
I hope I am posting this in the right area but I could use a alittle help. And sorry if this seems a bit long. About 2 months ago I had to make a really quick move. The first place I found the place fell threw cause the landlord couldnt give me another week before I can provide her with the security deposit. I could wait any longer and I scrambled to find something else. I came upon another place in which was bigger than the first place I had chose.
Now keep in mind this is a two family home in which the other unit is vacant. I current live with my 2 children(expecting another in Aug) my mother and my father comes and goes. I would say we have made the place some what liveable but it still needs some work eg. painting. We also have to pay for all our utilities. And each time some one come to look at the other unit I do the walk threw for the landlord. In fact he says he will pay me if I get it rented and I get to choose who I would like to have living there as well. Alot of people look at the apartment but no one comes back to it. I almost as though the property is mines. Recently I had someone come out to add addition cable unit to my apartment and he over heard my mom and I talking, he then started giving us hints and tips about the area we were in and what to do about getting a mortage etc. I found this useful.
Something told me to look up the value of the house and to much of my surprise I saw the house has been up for sale since Dec. 2011. I found it strange because my mom and I were just saying all the things we could do if the house belong to us.
Now my biggest problem is that I know my credit is not great and I am the only income. However the feeling I get is that the house has chosen us to become it owners. I need some advise on where to start. I've seen real estate agents name and have the landlords name and address. What should I do to get this to be mines?

So I was feeling under attack last week, and my mother asked me to to call this lady that I used to go to for any work, which never went back to her because I was paying and paying her and never saw any results. When I decided to leave her she kept calling my mom and threatening her how I am going to regret it and she went on,& on.

Well my mom called this lady and told her that I was not feeling well, and that i was out of control, she told my mom she was going to check me to see what was going on with me. The lady calls me and tells me that there are various people working to make me miserable and that I need help, that I need to find someone to help me, because who ever these people are they are trying to confuse me, make me miserable, and that they want me out of control., that I need help because she doubts I ca make it to my 40th birthday. and she also mentioned that that is why I am feeling a lot of spirits in my house because of these people sending negativity my way.
She told me she can help me... but, the again, what if she is the one doing this? My mom trust her because we have been going to her 15 years.

I don't know what to do, I know, I feel there is something wrong with me spiritually, but I just hate to go back to this lady.

Any suggestions of what to do... Can I do this myself? remove anything that may be wrong with me and my house? I am also concerned because I have a toddler, and don't want her to be under attack either. Can Someone do anything evil or bad to a toddler?

I have also been to other people to get readings and either I hired them to help me and I never see results or they threaten me that if I don't hired them that no one will be able to help me...

What to do?? I feel stuck!

if a person does work, no results and threaten you, chances are they are a fake and have no real power in the first place. All they are doing is using manipulation. I would order a fierry wall of protection spell kit for you, can add a candle for your toddler as well, yes ppl can attack children. Pray the st michael novea. I would order chinese floor wash and clean the whole house and follow that with a spiritual bath for you, (13 herb). My house is HUGE 2 story house. How can I scrub this whole house?
My second floor including stairs is carpet and the first floor is tile.

The tricky part that since I spoke to her last week about spirits and nightmares, I have been feeling at ease, not well, but at ease. So, she told me that I she could help me but doing work to help me...

Also, her daughter who works for her managing materials and her son who works for her, have something against me, because I stopped coming to her. She said that her daughter doesn't want her to help me. I guess I am just used to her. I know last year I was supposed to be "protected" but some people made me miserable, and went back to her and said that she doesn't know what happened.

Anyhow, I have order some products from LM. I am waiting on them. Now do I just add a white candle for my daughter, do I need to dress it with anything?

I feel I have so much to clean up and lot has been building up!

Follow the instruction on the spell kit. you can wipe down the trim on the wall for rooms with carpets, and burn a cleansing pure insense in the rooms as an added benefit. If you are having nightmares, place a cup of water by your bed side and in the am flush it down the toilet, repeat daily. While you wait id print a st michael picture and light a candle while praying to him to protect you and your family.

When you go to a grave yard you suppose to pay when you enter and leave for the watchers to prevent that. As for this spirit, id definetly not ignore it, id cleanse, use fiery wall of protection, sprit jar, anything to remove it from the premise asap.

Cross over a body of water.
I worked at a cemetary in Mobile, AL. I had to cross over the bay everyday when I returned home to Florida.
I worked with some great spirits, and also some that wanted to cling and take a ride home.

While doing graveyard work, it is also important to have protection on you. I usually will anoint myself, especially my head with, Hyssop oil which you can find here. You can also make a small packet of salt to carry with you as well for additional layer of protection. Best of luck!

Burn yourself up a large quantity of Dragons Blood resin incense as well. I usually start with my burning on the floor and stand over it, allowing the smoke to really rise up and cover my whole body. Then pick up your burning and going room to room, corner to corner in every inch of your house.

This is generally a good way to clean out any type of spirits in your home. Ive been doing Paranormal Investigations and removal of negative entities for many years and this is generally always our first step after we know what we are dealing with.

Also you can make a spirit trap for your home that are good for trapping any unwanted visitors in your home, You can also place camphor squares in the corners of your rooms, or if your in a smaller place like an apartment, the 4 farthest corners of your space.

I was raised in a home where I was told "There's no such thing as ghosts". Lots of weird things happened to me as a child, but I was told that I just had a wonderful imagination ... there was nothing to be scared of ... or, "It must have been a dream". So ... when I went to graveyards or spooky old houses, there was no one to tell me I needed to protect myself ... so "others" wouldn't come home with me. I'm sure spirits attached themselves to me - it would explain a lot. I'm just starting to learn hoodoo teachings. I've cleansed my home, taken cleansing baths, and tried to take some protective measures, but there are so many things I don't understand.

For example: I've read where a ghost cannot follow you if you cross over water. Is this also the case if that ghost has attached itself to you with a cord? Would the cord make it where that spirit can find you no matter how much water you cross over? How do you cut the cords of attachment? I've bathed with salt, Florida Water, and even a little Chinese Wash. I've asked St. Michael to help.

Forgive me if this is a silly question

, but I haven't had the benefit of growing up around people who believe in ghosts. All of you who had people who trained you regarding the spirit world have been truly blessed. Any info you could share would be very much appreciated.

It is a traditional -- but now a universal -- belief that spirits cannot cross water easily or at all. It is the custom to return from a graveyard by crossing a river. If one feels burdened by a spirit, it is further advised to stop halfway on the bridge or in the water ford and recite the Lord's Prayer.

Greetings Everyobe:

I seem to have a family of spirits (or ghosts or who knows what they really are?) my home, think they may have been here before we moved here.

It is like they are living in a different dimension than I, which I came to that conclusion after having several EVP sessions with a digital recorder. They will not leave, I have asked and asked.

There are children in this "family" ages toddler to teenager....they have at times made my life miserable with making very loud banging, whacking, tapping, thumping noises, making sounds that you would think something large has fallen out of place yet nothing is out of place, played with my hair while I sleep, walking repeatedly on my bed while i try to sleep, played with medical equipment I must use when sleepimg, said things loud enough in my ear to wake me up, have felt chills, emf meters have gone off at times.

They have played with my IR video cameras (moved the position of the camera, zoomed in and out while video taping and know very well how not to be caught on a camera). I have caught them a couple of times on video and still cameras but only for fleeting seconds so it never truly shows what theft really look like. I have also seen black shadows a few times out of the corner of my eye and one time I saw one straight on, no corner of the eye shot on that one and scary!

They have told me that if they showed me what they really looked like, it would frighten me. They are not always honest when I ask them questions as well. I realized that they aren't in the same dimension, at least I don't think so, when one child said to the other, Look it is starting to rain. Thing is it wasn't raining here, not a rain cloud in the sky, it was a clear starry night.

They apparently can see me, touch and walk around my room, make comments about what I do yet I cannot see them, have no idea what their "world" looks like, no idea why they are here or where they come from.

I want them gone and desperately need someone's advice on what I can do. No, I am not interested in having any paranormal group come to my home.

Could someone PLEASE help me?

I was being woke up over and over again by touches on my face. I read about house cleansing here on Lucky Mojo and made an order. I opened the windows, drawers, closets, cupboards and my daughter went around each room counter clockwise with uncrossing incense saying a psalm ( I forget which one). I went right behind her cleaning with Chinese wash and Pine-sol. You clean from top to bottom and back to front. After you clean a room, you burn a white candle in it. When you finish cleaning, you seal windows and doors. I used Van Van oil to make little crosses on the windows and said St. Michael's prayer. My daughter went room to room with me burning blessing incense. Then I put Peace Water in the corners of each room. *** I slept better that night than I had in weeks *** In fact, after the house cleansing and blessing, I wasn't being tormented anymore at night, so whatever was doing it left

Look for instructions on using Chinese Wash to get evil out of your house. In the mean time, You could put camphor or bay leaves in the corners of your bedroom to keep the ghosts from tormenting you while you sleep. I've also read on this forum you can put a glass of water on your nightstand or under the bed to capture spirits ... then you throw it out in the morning.

I'm new here, so the experts here on the forum can give you more detailed info. All I can say is cleansing the house as directed here on Lucky Mojo really helped me. I'm a firm believer now in cleansing and protecting my home from spirits and psychic junk.

In response to Joseph Magnuson, Lucky Mojo Course Graduate #1599,G; I did do a search under ghosts, hauntings and the like prior to posting my question and request for help.

Could someone advise whether they have ever encountered such a situation? Are there spirits that live in a different dimension but can stay in ours indefinitely to harass us? Are they really ghosts or former humans or something else entirely? These told me they are not like me, they were not familiar with the word "human" and do not have hair on their head. What could they be?

If I try to get them to leave and they pop back into their own dimension (or go up as they say or when they come into the room, they say it is coming down), how can I get them to leave if I do all that cleaning (which I have tried and has not worked, i.e. Chinese wash) when they aren't there? Since I cannot see them, I have no clue when they are around and as I said, they can just pop out whenever they want.

I am not an expert in Hoodoo, but I have been on a professional paranormal team that only handles residential cases. The vast majority of work we do is with clients who are having so much negative activity that they want to move out of the house if we cant fix the problem. I have hundreds of investigations, cleanings, etc under my belt, so take this for what its worth from the paranormal perspective.

First off, big no no doing EVP and investigating in your own home. The energy/intent you are putting out into the universe when you do that is that you WANT contact and communication with them. You cant do an EVP session to try and communicate with them, then get upset when they make noises and get your attention at night. Your just getting exactly what you asked for. If you really want to go the paranormal investigation route, find a local team with some credibility to come check out your house.

I have had cases where spirits claim to be other beings. Maybe they are, maybe there not. Its not an exact science so its hard to say. This whole "family" of beings you have may just be one really strong trickster spirit who likes playing games with you.

What I would do is burn Dragons Blood Resin incense throughout your home. Its been noted by many traditions to clear out spirits, and really clear them out. Then buy camphor squares and place them in the 4 corners of your home (some people do it in the corner of each room, ive had success with just the 4 most outer corners of the indoor area of the living space).

From there if you are still having activity it would be time to get help. I would suggest a reading from a member of AIRR, get or make a spirit bottle, or have a professional paranormal team out to come get answers for you.

For about a year now, been having a few odd things going on in the house. I suspect a little spirit activity. I am not picking up any negative feeling so I am guessing may be friendly. Our radio is turned off occasionally by itself or the function mysteriously changes. Also our fire alarms go off in the house at 7:21 pm every night. (Of the 6 fire alarms, it rotates between the kid's rooms as the one setting them all off.) We have done mundane checks and found nothing there either. Cable or Internet resets for no reason.( Nothing wrong with connection or equipment. Had that checked.) My ankle was grabbed a month ago and something unseen moved my ankle braclet. I have cleansed the house a couple times, followed with salt and Firey Wall Of Protection, but things only start back up after a few nights. Any suggestions on maybe getting the spirits or spirit to not be so 'noisy' lol ? I may get an AIRR reading down the road if it keeps up. The only other thing I can think of is the youngest child is suddenly been afraid of the dark where he wasn't before... Not sure I'd that is related or not. Looking for suggestions..

(Thought I'd add on it is suspected that is may be either the spirit of my husband's grandfather or possibly my friend that was murdered a year ago. Activity started about the time of my friend's death. Her killers were never found... Edit add on)

I have lots of suggestions if it's an unfriendly spirit. In fact, I've been doing that kind of thing for almost most of my life. BUT.....
But, you say that you know the spirit. So, I STRONGLY suggest that you get a reading and find out EXACTLY who it is and what they want. In the meantime, light a white candle and tell that spirit that it is scaring you and the child. Once you know for sure that it is a loving spirit, then you can ask it to keep down the noise level (or whatever you want to tell it). Just be careful because, sometimes, unfriendly spirits will sometimes start off as something..."Not so bad". You really need a reading to find out the real scoop. I hope all works out well for you and your family

I agree with the others, you should get a reading.

Has somebody close to you recently passed on? Perhaps in the past two years? If so, it could be that person trying to get your attention. Spirits often tamper with electronic items to get our attention as they are easy to control.

As a funny antidote, my close friend can always tell when I am actively working with spirits, because one of my guides (a mischevious one who is very dedicated to his work, but likes to pull little pranks too), will turn the TV on and off randomly, or change the TV show we were watching to something funny like the Real Housewives of (insert drama-laden city here) and turn the volume up really high. He thinks it is really funny! I swear you can almost feel his laughter in the room!! Haha! Now, my friend, once weirded out by such odd occurences, just rolls her eyes and says 'STOP'! Instantly, he will change channel back, lower the volume, ect.

I mention this as a side note, that although scary in the beginning, many spirits mean no harm and are just trying to get a message across.

I am hoping I started this in the correct place.

My friend and his stbxwife split 20 months ago. From that time she's lived in their house, without making a mortgage payment etcetera. In ten days, the house and property will legally be all his.

A week ago we drove by the house and the bad mojo hits you at the road. There's always been some bad vibes out there, and over time they have gotten stronger, but this was really bad. Nothing like this before.

Not "like a curse", I know it is a curse.

The history of the property: The first owners lost it due to foreclosure. This couple, the property is being transferred due to foreclosure. A 25% portion is swamp, 70% is woods, a very small 5% piece is actually a yard and the house. Prior to the house being built there it was open land and is located about 1/4 mile from a very old cemetery that is largely neglected now.

As soon as we got to the property line before I could even see the house I was ready to tuck and run. That crushing feeling eased up once we got to the other side of the property and away, but the yuck and a healthy dose of fear have lingered.

1) How do I find out or figure out how the curse got there? I know the source is definitely the ex, but the how escapes me since I don't think she believes in or practices any kind of magic or religion at all.

2) Can I do it without going out there again?

3) He plans to go out there and start cleaning up the place. That scares me, I fear for him and am terrified what he may run into that soap and water can't make clean. I did do a fiery wall of protection this past weekend, for him, me and everyone around us. What do I do about the house and property? What do I use and in what order?

4) I know this may seem stupid to ask but should I try to find a rootworker to help with an exorcism?

This place sounds like it has had the bad vibes for a long time not just starting with the ex-wife. Continual foreclosures and bank problems are a pretty good indications that something does not want whoever lives on the property to thrive or survive. Who knows what started the problem and you will probably never know so don't waste your time trying to figure it out. Instead I would focus on healing the place.

I once lived in a place where a child was accidently killed. I made peace with the spirit in the house and my family thrived. This is what I did:

1. I washed every inch of that house down with holy water, salt and a version of Chinese Floor Wash. I started in the back of the house and moved to the front of the house. Lots of workers have feelings about this but I am explaining how I did it and it worked.

2. Next I took three mason jars and placed 9 nails, 9 needles, pieces from a broken mirror that had been rinsed in holy water. I put the nails, needles, and mirror parts in each jar. Then I placed grave dirt taken respectfully from my ancestor who was a soldier in the Vietnam War and ask that they stand guard over my home and property. If you do not have grave dirt from a relative then I suggest that you get grave dirt from a soldier's grave and pay for it properly. 3. I buried the jars - one at the far right corner of my property, one at the far left corner of my property and one at the center back of my property. Why not all four corners, which is most traditional? Because in my case I felt that the odd number added power to the purpose of protection by the Holy Trinity.

4. I stood in the middle of my kitchen (center of the house) and prayed once I buried the jars. I prayed that God protect my home and that ArchangelMetatron put a wall of protection around my home. If you are an Archangel Michael devotee, then call on him.

5. This part is important - I acknowledged in my prayer that I knew there were other spirits who had claim to my home and property and because I was there to care for it and love it as much as they did that they needed to work with me. I promised not to take it away,only to co-habitat with them as long as it was in peace and good will. Any funny business and I would call a Priest.

6. The next spring I planted a rose bush, a lavender bush and a plant of mint in the yard to honor my agreement with the spirits of the property.

This is a powerful ward that I use in every place I have ever lived. I renew the jars every great once in awhile to make sure nothing has dug them up or they have not cracked because of temperature changes. I also burn Peaceful Home candles when I do the renewal of the jars.

I have known people to use goofer dust instead of grave dirt and to add their own urine to the jars. I would say do what it right for you.

I also keep a small lucky eye amulet in my window. I have had one break and there was a death in my family that same day but I took it as a warning so I would not be so surprised. I replaced it immediately and I have had no problems since.

I've sort of done property cleansing before. In the home I live in now. It's been an ongoing 'project' since it was just such a confused mess, but no real malice. This place is all about malice. I will admit that I have been putting together a 'plan' to cleanse the house and property. A good deal will rely on him and his willingness to let me do what needs to be done, before worse gets tempted.

In the meanwhile, I had an idea. Would it be beneficial to go up to the cemetery and clean it up? You know, since nobody really bothers would it be alright to go rake up the leaves and pick up some? Try to make nice with the spirits there. I don't expect anything from them, except peace. A good many of the residents are children though (it was a smallpox cemetery) and I'm concerned they'll follow me. I've been wanting to do it for years, just because it seems like the right thing to do.

I like the idea of the jars but it's a sizable parcel, would 1 every acre across be overkill?

Despite the history I still believe it's the ex. There had to have been some happiness and prosperity at some point, else the place wouldn't exist. And, namely because I always felt welcomed by the property when I went there prior to this whole mess erupting. Welcomed and at peace, whatever was out there wanted me there. Now, I don't know that I'd set foot without an army and an archangel flanking me.

Who told you your family is cursed and how has this curse manifested? It would be easy for a relative to blame his or her bad experiences on a curse rather than look to deeper causes. I believe that curses exist, but often "bad luck" is the consequence of negative thoughts or actions or random events.

Remember, intention is the root of all Magick. If you believed your are cursed, and believe bad things will happen, it could very well be a "Self-Cursing," so to speak.

I would get a Reading done for your situation, and see what is happening in a different or clearer way.

Cleaning up grave sites is always a good idea, in my opinion. I've done it many times when visiting a cemetery and not even for people I knew...just cleaning up gave sites in general. You can do some protection work on yourself before you go to help keep any spirits from following you home. But most importantly, when you're cleaning up the grave sites, talk to the children like you would any living child...let them know what you're doing. If they want to follow you home, it's because they like the attention you're giving them. When you go bring something with you to leave for the children (a small, simple toy, etc). Clean up their grave site and leave a little token that should keep them happy where they are.

Hello. I know a fellow who kayaks a lot. The community where he goes has been around since the 1870s or so and he finds lots of antique bottles in the creek. He views them as treasure because he can sell them on ebay. After reading on this forum about "throwing things into running water and not looking back", I was wondering could he be at risk? Some of the bottles he finds are cool, but a few have a creepy/nasty vibe about them ( to me anyway ). I'm pretty sure he knows nothing about conjure, so ... is ignorance bliss? Would his innocence save him from anything "bad" associated with these bottles? Is there a way to handle and sell the bottles used to curse or hotfoot people in the past without getting hurt? Would you waft uncrossing incense around them? Does the spell fade over the decades of being in running water? Am I just a worry wart?

Most are broken ( the creek has lots of rocks in it) and most are empty. He has found some great old bottles - like a clorox bottle from the 40s and some soft drink bottles in brands that haven't been made in years. But he finds little brown bottles and medicine looking bottles too. I've only seen a few that bothered me. Some were clear and looked like old cologne bottles perhaps, but they were sealed shut and whatever was in them looked nasty. I remember one had the lid so rusted on, but a hole was in it and the contents were gone except for a black, gunky looking mess ... but it looked like a hole had been punched in the center of the lid! There is no way I would want to open those things up ... even if you could. When we have heavy rains and the waterfall gets raging, it also stirs up things in the lake upstream - when the water goes down, that's when you can find all sorts of things in that creek.

In my opinion, I would be cautious as well. My first thought was what the bottles contained. If anything. Though, since most of them are broken we will never know. If he's determined to collect the bottles and sell them, then you may suggest "cleaning off the dirt" by washing the bottles in a bucket of water with a little Buffalo Ammonia. Best of luck.

Thank you for the ammonia suggestion. He had asked if I knew anything to clean them up and I had suggested soaking them in white vinegar. I hadn't been reading about conjure at the time, I just knew from experience with glassware that white vinegar can remove scale sometimes. The white vinegar has cleaned a few bottles up quite nicely, but we need to clean them on a spiritual /vibe level too - right? I can suggest the buffalo ammonia to this fellow as another way to physically clean the bottles, but it would scrub away more than dirt. He AND the people who buy the bottles would be safe, but none the wiser.

The ones that are sealed shut with nasty inside ... I can only encourage him to throw back. Trying to force them open would probably break the lip or neck anyway...... who wants to open an 80 year old bottle of anger or hatred anyway?

My name is Loahmmi and although I'm not new to the Lucky Mojo Products, I am new to the forum. I often look up information and just kinda read to educate myself more. Ok, so I've been on my Spiritual HooDoo path for 5 years now and most of the things I do are in secret BUT, my friends and family kinda know that something about me is weird and "different" when it comes to my spiritual practices, ya know I'm the one they come to when anything metaphysical happens to them be it dreams, ghost, prayers, readings etc. Ok, so although I want to take Cats course and become a certified worker I have not done that yet and haven't done much work for others, other than a candle lighting here and there.

Ok so my friend just moved into his house and his girlfriend and his dog where the only ones in the apartment at the time. So he say's that she was in the kitchen doing dishes when she heard a loud bang. She goes into the living room and there is a drawer from a table, that has now been taken out and throw across the room. The table is a coffee style table with drawers that face the couch and the distance from the table from the couch would not allow for this drawer to be fully opened, let alone thrown on the other side of the couch. Afterwards she took a picture which she showed me and then she took some videos of her boyfriends dog who was flippin out!!!! Also in the video you can see a couple of orbs floating around here and there, and the poor dog was whimpering and on her lap with his tail between his legs.

I think they have some kind of Spirit or Entity in the house, he's only been living there for a week, they just moved in. So my question is this...should I help them clean their home. I burn sage on the regular basis, along with frankincense. And i told them how they should never move into an apartment without cleaning it first, but the problem is they don't believe in this "stuff" but yet they are freaked out and scared to do a cleaning themselves. This would be the first cleaning that I've done for someone else and although I am on the path to become a professional I have not yet achieved this status. Should I help them?? If I do what kind of precautions should I take being that I don't want to bring anything home with me. Or should I just leave it alone and give them something they can do for themselves. Hello Loahmmi,

I am not a member of AIRR but I have been doing residential paranormal investigations for over 6 years, with over 200 cases under my belt.

First thing is about orbs. Orbs 99% of time, are dust particles. True that 1% of the time it could be something else, however the only way to tell would be with video (so you can see the movement behavior of the anomaly and compare it to dust or bugs). Just thought I would share that with you. Orbs is probably the most common thing people look for with paranormal evidence, but its often the most difficult to prove with, and easiest to dismiss.

However with the movement of objects and an animal responding to an unseen person, you probably have something going on. My Best advice to you would be to get a reading from a member of AIRR, and/or find a reputable paranormal research team to come do an investigation.

If the behavior inside the home is negative there are things they can do in the meantime. Personally I prefer to use a mixture of camphor and dragons blood incense placed right onto a charcoal. Take it form room to room while praying from the heart for protection and the removal of anything that means you harm. Afterwards give the place a good cleaning with Chinese Wash, starting at the back of the house, working towards and out the front door. Most people, myself included, then prefer to do a blessing. You just removed energy from the home, if you dont fill that void, something else might. So then get some white candles and use Fiery Wall of Protection oil and incense to add that element of protection to your home.

Sounds like someone detected a jinx or crossed conditions -- assuming that your sister was seeing an honest reader. It could be a scam, of course, as described here:

I have never heard the term "hindering spirit" before, but it could be a colloquial manner of speaking. The best thing to do would probably be to go and ask the person who said it for clarification.
