Clover (White, Red, 4-Leaf) Questions and Answers

Unread post by kyleskonjure » Sat Mar 17, 2012 11:54 pm

Does anyone know of any spells to make use of a 4 leaf clover? I have a large amount that I've collected over the years!

Four leaf clover (usually a form of white or red clover) can be used in good luck spells. You could make a mojo bag with a clover, and other applicable roots/curio that are for good luck. Or you could put them around your altar and/or use them in candle work. I would get a yellow or green candle and work with some money drawing oil if you want good luck with money. You could use it with crown of success.

You ought to be lucky with all of those four leave clovers, I have been trying for years to get just one. Good Luck and starsinthesky7 (as always) provided appropriate recommendations.

I've been collecting since I was in high school, I've got quite a few, but then again I've always been fairly lucky in general.

Something that I didn't consider, If I were to use a four leaf clover in a mojo bag what measures should I take to ensure it isn't bent/ripped/etc while floating around in the bag, or is that even an issue? I had an idea to draw a seal, place the clover on it and fold it up for protection, is this advisable?

Kyleskonjure,

Four-Leaf Clovers are amulets and as such they are not generally utilized in spell casting, or crushed up to make candle dressing oils when regular Three-Leaf White Clover or Three-Leaf Red Clover will do.

If you want to keep a Four-Leaf in a mojo hand, you will probably be disappointed, as it will get crushed, crumpled, and broken. It is far more common to laminate a Four-Leaf Clover to a business card and carry it in your wallet, with your money.

Another thing you will often find, if you buy old Bibles, is that people will place the lucky Four-Leaf Clover at Psalms 23 in the Bible and leave it there, pressed. I have a number of Bibles that i bought used that were fixed like that, so i would say it is a common practice.

Good luck!

Thank you very much! As it so happens I generally have at least 2 four leaf clovers(which I carry in my wallet folded up in an envelope) on me at all times.

Would laminating the clover and inserting it in the bag work, or are mojos not supposed to have laminated/plastic materials in them?

EDIT: also, something else that I've always been curious of, would giving someone a laminated four leaf clover have the same effect if they had found/laminated it themselves?

If you talk to a 4-Leaf Clover that is given to you, and re-purpose it to yourself, the spirit of the plant would most likely work with you.

Also, you could add it to your mojo bag and keep it protected by loading it into wax. You take a candle of appropriate size and color (white or green) and carve a hollow into it, then fill it with the clover and your personal concerns, perhaps other money and lucky products/herbs, and then seal it back up with the wax you displaced when carving. Use heat to seal the wax up and it's ready to be added.

Wild at Heat, have you tried placing chunks of wax in your mojo bag? I think you'll make a mess that way.

Most of us wear mojo bags on our bodies -- wax will either crack if handled roughly during cold weather or (and i've had this happen) it will soften and melt when carried on the body in warm weather.

Either way the Four-Leaf Clover will crumble.

Wax is not a stable component in a mojo bag. There are good reasons for the use of roots, nuts, coins, teeth, bones, and folded paper in mojo bags, especially when padded with some softer herbs or seeds.

Kyleskonjure, laminating is not forbidden to use in a mojo, it's just pointlessly inadequate. We already have such wonderful ways of working, so traditional and so convenient -- why put in something that is going to eventually bend and crack and wreck the Four-Leaf Clover?

This isn't rocket science, folks -- but it is elementary physics. LOL!

This product qualifies to be included in the Lucky Mojo 6 Herb and Root Special.

Hmm, that's an excellent point. The main reason I'm itching to use a clover is I have so many, as well as the fact that long before I learned of hoodoo, or the existence of real magic, the most "magical" and powerful object in my mind was a four-leaf clover, so it holds a bit of special meaning to me

I was originally thinking bottle spells, but there's also the option of an already money-blessed locket to hold the clover safely.

I just went and laminated(actually, put between two clear pieces of tape, but same thing, eh?) all the loose clovers I had in my wallet(13), I was planning on giving them to some friends to help enliven and luckify their lives, but before I do so would putting a little lucky oil on them increase their power? Also, in the collection were 2 5-leaf clovers(I think one was originally a 6 leaf but the 6th fell off) would these be more powerful? Less so?

This may sound silly, so forgive me, but last week this time I *knew* 4-leaf clovers really did not occur in nature. I never found one as a kid and was totally convinced that all those who said they had were being less than truthful. While looking up the names of some of the plants the neighbor put in my yard, I came across some info on clovers. Supposedly 1 in 10,000 has 4 leaves. Those odds aren't bad considering how many I have now since cancelling Scott's lawn service.

I decided to look with the kids, and don't you know I actually found one. I was simply amazed, but my youngest started crying lol. I told him pretty firmly not to pout, and that's not how you get things done. I told him if I found one he would too and to get up and look. Two minutes later he had a HUGE one. One minute after that he had a big one for his brother. Now they want me to fire the landscaper so he doesn't cut all the clovers away.

I've looked online for info on laminating as well as putting them in resin, but I was also wondering like kyleskonjure if it's okay to put oil on them without destroying them or causing them to lose their color.

Also, I know we all have different perspectives on things, but I wouldn't see the harm in adding one to a mojo or oil or powder in its ground state if you have clovers to spare. Just like violet leaves resemble hearts, they don't lose their qualities when dried and crushed. That's just my take on it anyway. If I had tons of 4 leaf clovers, some would def be in an oil lol.

As for clovers with more than 4 leaves, they're supposedly not more powerful/lucky according to what I found online. However, considering how much more rare they are, I'm sure opinions on that one will vary. I guess it's said they're not because each of the leaves has a particular meaning. In one version the Father, Son, Holy Spirit, and G-D's grace would be the fourth. In the other version, it's faith, hope, love, and luck.

I'm sure you could always laminate them to 2 a dollar bill, or other special money.

Hi, everyone! I wanted to ask about creating a four-leaf clover oil and/or adding four-leaf clover to my cinquefoil oil that I make.

I need to preface with this fact: I happen to have the world's most useless superpower, which is that I find four leaf clovers constantly. I have probably found thousands of four-leaf clovers over the last 40 years, and constantly give them away. Just as an anecdote, my older daughter (who shares this gift) and I were just walking around our yard chatting this afternoon, and within about 20 minutes she found two, I found five, and I even found a 5-leaf clover to boot.

Acknowledging that normally 4-leaf clovers are carried as talismans (and I have several that I carry), or pressed in bibles (have that as well), my understanding is that is primarily because they are so rare. In my particular case, where they are not at all rare, would it make sense to make a 4-leaf clover oil that I might use in various spell-work for luck? Or even to add it to my cinquefoil oil? I thought it might be fun to do something different with this year's "batch."

Thank you, and thanks for this wonderful forum. I've lurked around here for at least a decade when I wanted to research something, and I continually appreciate seeing how other folks craft their art. This is the first time I've had to ask a question, as usually they've been asked and answered five-times over :)

Mariah --

Thanks for following this forum for so many years. Your gift is remarkable -- and not "useless" in any way!

This is a customer help forum for our chop's clients. We do not instruct folks how to make their own oils. We make and sell oils.

The fact that you call Five Finger Grass by the name Cinquefoil would seem to indicate that you are practicing a European folkloric tradition, or at least are not deeply into African American folk magic. No problem with that, but i just want to translate your word into a term that most of us know and use.

You can certainly add the lucky Four Leaf Clovers you and your daughter find to Five Finger Grass Oil. It's a brilliant idea, actually.

Five Finger Grass Oil

Use in Magic:
Use Five Finger Grass for success in all the things that your five fingers can do. It is a a great boon to those who need to ask for favours, especially monetary or time favours. It is also fine as a magical skin emollient for those who work construction, play musical instruments, do needlework, or in any way work with their hands.

Spell Methods:
Use oils to fix candles, prepare magical amulets, anoint the body and hair, add to bath water and floor wash, and dress furniture and rooms, according to folk magic spell lore.

Product Details:
Hand-made, faith-based, perfumed hoodoo dressing oil with herbs and roots included, in a 1/2 oz. glass bottle with a colourful label.

Thank you so much!! Yes, I practice a more European folk tradition, and cinquefoil is what I was taught to call it by my grandmother so thank you for clarifying for folks (although I know to search on here for five finger grass so shame on me, really ) I have found your books/ site/store/podcast very useful especially as I generally prefer to wildcraft and herb/root based traditions tend to be very geographically specific, so it's allowed me to make informed substitutions and pick up the items that are harder to obtain in my specific region. Thank you for the quick reply, and may you be healthy and well!

Lovely thread and wonderful info!

I've found four-leaf and five-leaf clovers over the years, especially around major life events (e.g. after the death of family member and once when literally asking for a "sign").

As others have written in this thread, I've pressed four-leaf clovers in the Bible: Psalm 23, the book of Ruth, the book of Esther.

Several friends and family members are suffering right now - the pandemic, unemployment, depression - so I mounted a few pressed/dried four-leaf clovers onto index cards and mailed them with little thinking-of-you notes.

One question I have is whether/how four-leaf clovers are interpreted as "signs"?

I ask because, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic began, I've felt drawn to discover deeper meaning in my life and felt drawn to learn about, explore, and connect with a tradition/community. I am unsure what tradition or traditions that would be, but as I've reflected on these questions, listened to Lucky Mojo Hoodoo Rootwork Hour podcasts, and read Missionary Independent Spiritual Church books, I've continued to find four-leaf clovers. They seem to signify "yes" - this is a time to learn, explore, and connect.

Anyway, I've rambled enough. Wishing y'all peace and joy and good luck! ^_^

HoundAndHearth,

There are some signs that have common meanings for everyone like finding a penny on the sidewalk. Different traditions step in and say if that penny should be heads up or if it matters which side is showing. However, many signs are deeply personal and the meanings are different for everyone. Finding feathers, seeing certain animals, hearing a song all can have different meanings.

Finding a 4 leaf clover is lucky but it could also have a deeper spiritual meaning to you. I would keep track of the occurrence and what happens afterwards. If you feel like Spirit is telling you "yes" then I would push forward with that in mind. Document what happens.

If you haven't already, please check out this thread on signs: signs-omens-movement-completion-of-spel ... t6436.html

Good evening, y'all! I wanted to share an update about my earlier post in this thread re: four-leaf and five-leaf clovers. I'm not quite sure whether this follow-up post belongs on this thread or whether it's better suited to the signs and omens thread TerraRising shared above. I completely understand if it needs to be moved to a more appropriate home ^_^

As TerraRising kindly and sagely advised, I've been watching for the next occurrence of four-leaf and five-leaf clovers in my life. Since April of this year, I've found 15+ four-leaf/five-leaf clovers all while feeling drawn to explore, learn about, and potentially connect with something more spiritual and magical. At the same time, I've been reading MISC books, listening to the Lucky Mojo Hoodoo Rootwork Hour live shows and podcasts, and reading on the forum (including the signs and omens thread). I've continued to wonder if the four-leaf and five-leaf clovers were positive signs about continuing to explore and connect with something like hoodoo.

Well, the answer to this question now appears to be a resounding "Yes!":
  • Yesterday evening, I (finally!) placed my first order with the Lucky Mojo Curio Company, including my first-ever spell kit.
  • This morning, I found 3 four-leaf clovers as soon as I took my beagle out into the yard.
  • This evening, I found 1 five-leaf clover and 2 more four-leaf clovers.
^_^

Thanks again, TerraRising, for your advice and the link to the signs and omens thread. Thank you!
