Hello from Texas

Unread post by victorguillen » Wed Aug 26, 2009 10:47 am

Hello LM family,

I'm new to the study and practice of Hoodoo tradition. I expect to learn the most I can and put it on practice.

My background is Ceremonial Magick and Wicca. Having said that, I have some questions for anyone who can answer them. Before I start, I want to thank all of you.

1. in Hoodoo tradition, it is required to stablish a circle to do the work?
2. If the answer is not, may I still use a circle to do my work as my own option or add-in?
3. May I use the LBPR or the Sphere of Protection as I do in ceremonial magick?
4. may I combine Hoodoo items for my other practices?

Thank you for your answers, as I said, I'm new to Hoodoo tradition and I'm really willing to learn.

You certainly don't need anyone's permission to buy and use LM supplies in whatever manner you choose. However, keep in mind that Hoodoo is an African-American Christian tradition that works with the Psalms and other Bible passages and prayer to the Judeo-Christian God. It is not Wicca nor Ceremonial Magick nor any other brand of neo-Paganism.

I don't want to sound too harsh, but this comes up frequently on this forum. Folks want to make Hoodoo into what they want it to be instead of what it is.

Thank you for your response.

Well, I don't take your response as harsh or something, instead I take as is with open mind attitude because I want to learn, with sincerity.

I was asking this, because for example, in ceremonial magick (Golden Dawn tradition) we use the LBPR for protection and strenght before any magickal work, and because I'm new to Hoodoo tradition, I was wondering if I can use it for protection also.

So, I got your point.
