Little Owl: There are many different "negative" oils, you do not have to specifically buy the Crossing Oil, but it is good to have on hand.

Howdy

Just out of curiosity...

I see there is a bottle as required purchase. Is there also a list of altar tools that one would require?

I have been interested in the course for a little while. I am close to having purchased the all required products. I think there are very few catagories that i have not yet acquired. There is a lot of stuff to read here!

I am an applied Learner, my best way to learn is to get my hands dirty. So I like that it is encouraged to have some experience with the products prior to admittance. It makes my learning experience more meaningful and rich. At some point, I will give a better introduction to myself so you know me better. As an Aries I seem to just Jump in.

Greetings!

This is going to sound like a very silly question, but... I work ~34 hours per week and take about 6 credits at school, which I will be in for about 2 more years. I do have a good amount of time to persue additional studies and religious practice. I would like to take Miss cat's course sometime soon, but I'm not sure how large the course load per week it

For those of you who have taken the course, does it sound like I can work it in my schedule, or should I wait until perhaps I'm done with my school?

That is for you to decide. How much free time do you have after work/school and studying/homework is done? I would have been able to complete it while in school, but we may have slightly different approaches to time management. If you feel your schooling will interfere then I would wait until you are comfortable with the free time you have so you can dedicate it fully to the course. The weekly workload is not that heavy though!

The decision to take Miss Cat's course, learn more and graduate, the entire experience was one of the greatest ever for me. We, the past present and future students have had the opportunity to learn from an overflowing fountain of information. There is more than one reason I consider Miss Cat as the Best.

I decided to post to the thread based on some good recent questions about the homework. I personally loved the homework! I loved coming up with a creative idea and concept for my oil and my Mojo. I called mine Silver Lining, and it contained real silver from a pharmacy from 1946. I took the bottle to my first apprenticeship and was beaming when I showed it to Miss Cat.

If y'all have the opportunity to attend the workshops, typically there is a homework party the Friday night before. It is very interesting to me the customs that we share with the first three homework assignments and stories behind obtaining graveyard dirt, and hearing about the creativity behind the recipe for each student's oil and Mojo!

Can't wait to join course in a few months. Still a little bummed that I won't be sharing experience with my favorite cousin. She joined the ancestors at the end of August (at age 46). I come from a Southern family (Alabama/Georgia) so I grew up around "roots" although I'm a Northerner. Spent Saturdays at Harry's Occult store in Philadelphia as a child. My grandmother was a reader and helped people so I observed some things. She learned from her maternal aunt. She doesn't like talking about those days. So I'm hoping to learn more about hoodoo. I'd loke to pass the family tradition on to my daughter.

Greetings all.... I am currently doing some small fixin of some gris gris and candle spells at home an only revolving around me.. I do find myself becoming more involved but need more direction about moving forward. I have always enjoyed and highly respected these forums and this organization. In fact I purchased my first Mojo bag from Lucky Mojo over the phone about 15 years ago...... Also, I dont have any local people here in NJ to ask questions and to tell you the truth dont trust anyone around here with regards to this.... I am totally interested in the correspondance course but I dont know if I fit the requirements..

Advice??

My wife and I recently made our first order from LM in preparation for taking the correspondence course. I'm wondering now if the required purchases list will fulfill the requirements for two people in one household, or if we should be making separate purchases. We included both our names on the order. If we need to establish a customer history for each of us, individually, we can and will do so. I just wanted to make sure we're on the right track from the beginning.

It is my inclination to treat each member of the household as an individual. There is a spousal discount on the 2nd book (which also applies to other members in a family, not just spouses.

Hi, I have a question. For the past year i saved money for the course, purchased the required items for the course. Spend a lot of time working with the book and purchases. I send several emails with my background, experience and motivation for the course. The next step seems to be calling to the store so I can say outloud that i am motivated to finish the course? Coming from the other end of the world calling is very expensive and rather complicated. I am not sure i understand the procedurw but only 1 phonecall seems to stand in between me and the course? Or are there other requirements when you come from another coybtry, like Holland in my case?

Wendy Rose, the phone call is my way of getting to know you. I will go over a lot of information with you, you can take notes, or even record the conversation. I want to hear your voice, get to know you, and make sure you understand the course and will be able to complete it. I don't usually use skype, though. A telephone call is sufficient. Remember, you are going to be doing more than purchasing a book -- this is a community of people who know and care for one another.

I just registered on this forum, though I have read through it a great deal, and I think it is great what you all are doing. That aside, I just want to clarify on some of the required purchases.

1. Is Master Key considered attracting?
2. Is Essence of Bend Over considered negative, or are we talking Confusion, D.U.M.E., Crossing, etc.
3. Lastly, I ordered two six herb specials, but I'm assuming I also need a specific blend of herbs as well.

Just want to get my required purchases in, as well as the rest of my shopping list.

Was just looking through the posts in this forum again, and I believe I answered my own question in regards to Essence of Bend Over, and its negativity. I suppose the resulting subjugation would be negative to the person being dominated, but would be categorized as controlling/dominating. I believe I was splitting hairs with that question. Oh well, I will have bought them all soon enough anyways lol.

Growing up, a lot of this was just normal. No one made a big deal out of it - to the point that I did not know there was any specific meaning. Things were just done - Grandmothers always said,"...for good luck...". My parents are from South Carolina, and I grew up listening to many stories and having personal experiences. I am about to begin the course this spring

. What has helped me is researching based on family experiences and being introduced to a spiritual guide - who told me to check out Lucky Mojo and encouraged me to take the course. I began with a few items from the shop and now have a 'go to' box of goodies that I have accumulated. I also began practicing protection & banishing spells 2 years ago. Using my own garden and creating my own baths and cleansing for my home and family has been wonderful. If you are in the area, I would encourage you to go to a homework grading party.(Just call the shop and ask about that.) I have had the 'wonderful' opportunity to do so twice and am so grateful to learn and share information. I am especially grateful to learn about some traditions that my family has forgotten.

There has been a homework party the last two years when I have gone to California. I hope that there will be one this year on the Friday prior to the Workshops. This year's workshops are a little earlier. If there is one, I hope to meet you!!!

One of the things I hope to do every year, in addition to attending the Workshops, and after the Apprenticeships is to spend an extra day or two (Thursday and Friday) just being part of Lucky Mojo, shopping, helping, the homework party on Friday night. The Homework party is one of the things I look forward to when I come to California.
I come from Florida, and I plan on attending annually.

First I would like to say thank you for your contribution to making the Universe a better place through your spiritual guidance and wisdom that you so generously share! Thank you.

I'm interested in taking your Hoodo course but I still need more time familiarizing and experimenting with some of the "tools of the trade" that you mentioned prospective must purchase from you before being considered. The reason I'm writing you is to determine whether or not I would be an eligible candidate for practicing Hoodoo.

I'm an African-American male, 40 years old, and know of two members of my family who practice magick or the spirtual arts -- my Greatgrandmother born in Mississippi now deceased in physical form and my mother. My mother primarily channels most of her magickal energy through candles and some tarot. She is also gifted psychicly. Enough of family background.

Unlike many African-Americans, I do not believe in a "God" per se. I do, however, believe in a Force or Energy that makes everything possible. It's not male or female it simply just is and manifest itself and ways both knowable and unimaginable. I believe in Jesus the Christ and his teachings but do not accept him as my "Savior" in the sense of being condemned to hell if I don't. I believe in Mohammed, Abraham, Moses, Confucius, Isis, Wizards, witches, YOU and the wisdom you all have to offer. I believe that the Universe works through all of you, including me, to empower and uplift each other. I simply do not call that force or energy God. I've been called atheist, agnostic, atheist christian among other things. I choose not to identify or be defined by religious labels. With that said, would I still be an eligible candidate for your Hoodoo course? I hope so!!

People of all spiritual backrounds take the Course. Not picturing God as a bearded man in the sky will not disqualify you.

I suggest that you start making the necessary purchases that are required before taking the Course and purchase Hoodoo Herb and Root Magic.

I have no trouble teaching people of varied and various beliefs. All i ask is that they recognize -- as i had to recognize, having been born a Jew -- that what i was taught was utilized and maintained and passed down within a Christian and Christian-Spiritualist culture. That is, it is my intention to honour those whose tradition it actually is.

Yes, i have had difficulty teaching those who refuse to learn the use of the Psalms -- because the Psalms are a strong, really, effective, and major part of hoodoo -- but on the other hand i do not require that my students accept Jesus, ala Romans 10:9.

I have successfully taught this course to Muslims, Wiccans, Christians, Spiritualists, Jews, Hindus, and Buddhists -- but those who got the most out of it were those who respected, even if they did not profess, the Judeo-Christian basis of the black American culture-bearers who passed the tradition down.

You sound like you would be a very good student, and i would enjoy teaching you, i am sure.

My 2¢...

My personal religious views are...interesting. When I first began studying hoodoo, and as I have continued to learn more about American folk magic systems, I had to do some thinking about the part religion plays, and if I could practice in a respectful way, based on my religious views. The simple answer is yes. Like Miss cat said; it is important to respect the tradition you're working in. I am not a Christian, and yet I use the Bible, pray the Psalms, and heal using the Three Highest Names. I am respectfull of the traditions, and am able to do good work, within them.

Don't get hung up on the dogma. Learn and practice with sincerity.

The Psalms are in the Hebrew Bible, which Christians call the Old Testament. About half of them are notated as having been written by the Jewish musician and King David, others are attributed to musicians in his court, and several seem to have originated as Egyptian hymns, which some people think were translated into Hebrew during the time that the Jews were enslaved captives in Egypt. Therefore, they can be used by anyone who believes in God.

Just applied for the course, they are just going through my history now to see if I qualify. Unfortunately my interview won't be scheduled until maybe a few days-maybe a few weeks all depending on my next order. I was missing two prerequisites for the course (a herb and Chinese Wash), which I must have accidently marked off my list here at home. But thank you very much for your support Papa Newt! So I went and ordered those items and also bought a whole whack of other stuff to show my support, and show that my earnest and eagerness to take this course to better myself in hoodoo. Katrina, the woman I spoke to, was very lovely, she told me to call back today, thank you miss cat for your wonderful products and thank you for your lovely staff I've had nothing but good experiences with them.

I am more than interested in taking the course, I want to learn a lot. My grandmother taught me few things here and there, but I was never formerly taught by anyone. I will try to go to the store this weekend and made most or all the required purchases (minus the ones that I already bought). But I would like to start using some of them for my own protection and cleaning. Would that be ok, or do I have to save them for further use in the correspondence course? If I need them for the course, I will just buy two sets of some of the items

I am reading on my own about herbs from the required book. I want to be well prepared for this. Is there any other suggestion for me to get from the store besides the already published list?

I am beginning to place my required ingredient orders to be eligible to apply for the correspondence course.

I have a question - what if you're unsure which *exact* category you may place an oil/sachet/etc? Some are plainly obvious like "Money Drawing Oil" is obviously under the required oil category of money (love, money, protection, and negative work). But what about say "Boss Fix Oil" or "Van Van Oil?" Same could be asked about incenses, sachets, bath oils, etc.

A basic rule of these required purchases that I have been told is that for Attraction it must be something directly for Attraction IE: Money Draw, Come to Me, Attraction

Van Van is for clearing away messes and changing bad luck to good luck. Not 100% attraction, but also not 100% repelling, either.

Protection could be either Fiery Wall of Protection or Protection titled products, but also could include Fear Not To Walk Over Evil or Jinx Killer. (The latter two are laid down over jinxed or crossed areas to protect those who walk over the area or to kill the jinxes placed there; additionally, Jinx Killer can also be used like Reversing and Uncrossing to take off jinxes that have already taken affect.)

And negative or harming should be, as said by cat to me once, "Something to make the target cry." It should be something that the purpose would make the target miserable. Run Devil Run, Crossing, Destruction, Damnation, Banishing, and Jinx are good choices.

Just placed my first order to qualify for the Correspondence Course. My question is should I go ahead and start working with these or wait for the course? I already do work with oils and herbs but not specifically for Hoo Doo. Thank you, Michelle

I had my interview on Tuesday with Miss Cat, and boy, what an inspiration and delight she is!
She okayed me for the course, and I just ordered my book! Can't wait to start!
