Alligator Foot and Tooth Questions and Answers

Post by Theredqueen911 » Sat Oct 08, 2011 6:45 am

I was talking to someone who had a dried alligator hand and had said that it was used to grab money...I

1. was wondering if you

A. sell said alligator hand?

B. how would you use it?

2. would you put it on an altar?

3. if so what kinda altar?

A. like an ancestral altar?

B. An altar to Yemaya Ibu Okoto? Cause I have an altar to her and I've been doing some money work on it and it seems to be working and I know she can be good with that and love...

Yes Lucky Mojo sells Alligator feet (http://www.luckymojo.com/alligatorfeet.html) The package includes instructions on how it is used. But as you indicated it is among the money 'grabbin' and drawing curios.

ZOO-ALL-FOOT
Alligator Foot Curio
$3.00

These come in large and small sizes, but the price is the same, so if you want it for an altar piece you can ask for a large one and if you want to use it in a mojo, ask for the "smallest mojo bag size" and we will select one for you. You must put that note in your order, in the message area.

1. A. Yes, Lucky Mojo does sell an alligator foot:
ZOO-ALL-FOOT

"Here is a link to Hoodoo in Theory and Practice," by Miss Catherine Yronwode:

1.B. In a Mojo
http://www.luckymojo.com/mojocatmojo.html

2. Yes, an altar for money and prosperity (half of the answer) Someone else may be able to answer your question about an alligator foot and whether or not placement on an altar may be helpful and respectable while working with Yemaya Ibu Okoto.

Good luck $$$!

1.A. Miss Tammie Lee answered that.

1.B. Miss Tammie Lee answered that, too!

2. Yes, and Tammie Lee said it very well. I would add that it is the custom, when placing an Alligator Foot on the money altar, to fold up a dollar bill (or a higher denomination bill, if you can spare it) and place it between the Alligator's claws, resting the paw on its back, palm upward, so that the money is held aloft.

3.A. No, not unless your ancestor had some special link to Alligators or had given you the charm

3.B. Nope. I practice conjure, also known as hoodoo or rootwork, which is not a religion and does not rely upon the serving of or petitions to specific deities for its operation. Thus i work with the ALLIGATOR, not a goddess.

That having been said, I also recognize that hoodoo as a magical practice is firmly and solely embedded in the Judeo-Christian religion of Protestant Christianity, subsection, Black Churches. So i might work with the Alligator but bless my venture "In Jesus' name, amen."

Since this forum was founded by me, and people ask about my opinion on religious matters and forms of religious veneration quite often, i would like to point you toward my own way of thinking. You can read about my religion here:
http://readersandrootworkers.org/wiki/C ... _Tradition
-- under Judeo-Christian and also under Eclectic (I'm about halfway between those). However, although i am fairly eclectic, i don't have any altars to Nigerian or Afro-Cuban deities nor do i serve them in any way, because their religions are initiatic, and not being an initiate in those religions, i respect their initiatic nature enough to not pose as a worker within their traditions.

Now, I've had a gator hand on my lodestone altar for the longest time, and I somehow never learned that neat and elegant little trick. Miss Gator's all shiny with Fast Luck and other oils, and brandishing some real genuine US currency now!

Thanks to you all for the speedy replies.. apparently someone put molasses in my cereal lately..hahahah anyways...Very interesting information ladies...thanks a mill..I see your point Miss Cat I shouldn't of asked about Yemaya...as this board is about hoodoo and not anything else...just thought I'd ask anyways...I guess the more appropriate question would have been what saint should I work with ...with this alligator hand or foot? If I was to ask anything? And sorry for the oddness of the way in which I asked...I have weirdness of the brain...with the A..1 2 B 3 4 C 5 thing...sorry about that

Alligator Foot and Tooth Questions and Answers

Post by Wild at Heart » Sun Nov 06, 2011 3:47 pm

Hello, all! I've got an alligator tooth and while I'm aware that it's best to not over complicate things, I'd like to ask so as to avoid any conflicting intentions! I find this animal to be fearsome, hypnotizing, mysterious, alluring, long lasting, and many other qualities that I associate with reptiles (like snakes) in general. I'd like to know if it is or is not conflicting to make the Alligator Tooth into a necklace charm and baptize it in oils like Bewitching and Fire of Love? The product page mentions it's used in luck, specifically/especially money, and I was hoping it was compatible with other attraction and keeping works. ;)

I really, really, REALLY don't like the idea of doing a spell to bring a fearsome love relationship.

As a follow up: Having worked with this alligator spirit, I can see now how it really has no place in love working- at least not the kind I have in mind! It is, of course, perfect for money work! Probably protection, too, but I haven't read anything about this in the tradition.

alligator money hand

Post by travieso1103 » Fri Mar 23, 2012 4:58 pm

can someone please tell me how to make a money hand from a alligator foot. ive heard you dress the foot in oils then put a dime or money in the palm and wrap red thread to tie the money to the foot, and smoke it. now is this right or is there more needed. btw this is to draw money and gambling luck.
thanks

I've looked for the answer to the question but haven't found: with regards to provenance - are the parts harvested from road-kill? Is there any way to find out? I know it sounds like a bit of a weird one but it has been a concern from some of my vegetarian/vegan friends and family. Thanks!

I can understand their concerns.

A shaman woman taught me to sprinkle Tobacco on the Zoological Curio and pray for the spirit of the animal to be at peace with the Creator. One store I used to work for got some wings, I believe they were pheasant, that could be used for Smudging. They were off! Nothing felt right about them at all. This is when I learned about using Tobacco and there was a huge difference afterwards. Now whenever I receive any Zoological Curio, this is a process I do before working with them. Did it with my Bone Reading Set as well. :)

So for me I will do this with any Zoological item, known or unknown with their provenance.

Dress an alligator foot with whiskey and Money Stay With Me, and keep it with your cash. It will attract more money.

Hi all,

I am a vegan (and not just a dietary one), so using most of the zoological curios that are traditional within hoodoo is not something I'm particularly comfortable with. It is my understanding that alligators naturally shed their teeth, so alligator teeth seem to be one of the few animal curios that I would be okay working with. I'd really like to know if the teeth for sale on Lucky Mojo are naturally-shed ones, or if they are harvested from an animal that has been hunted/killed for its parts. I hope I do not come across as sounding rude or judgmental, but it's important to me for the sake of my personal ethical code to know these kinds of things before making a purchase. Blessings to all

Hi veggiekiller420, all of our alligators come from one source and these are either from farm raised or hunted alligators during the alligator hunting season. Hope that helps you make your decision.

Best of luck!

Quick gator foot question-I have carried mine on me for years-and now a few of the 'toes' are broken but not quite falling off. My inclination is not to use it on the altar but to retire it-However I don't want to get rid of it cause it's been around a long while. Still okay to keep around? Input?

Hello, Southernmom,

When I have something that's debilitated but it has helped me greatly, I place it on my altar as a way to honor it's spirit (for all it's done for me).

You could even put some healing oil on it's toes and talk to it while doing so: www.luckymojo.com/healing.html

Take care

Butterfly Blue,

I suppose that is between you and the spirit of that alligator.

The magical qualities of these items are described in this book, with folkloric hoodoo spells for use in practical conjure. 500 herbs, roots, minerals, and zoological curios are listed, along with their scientific names, so you will know exactly what to harvest or buy from an herb dealer. Included are an amazing 750 spells, formulas, mojo hand combinations, and candle rites, all given in workable, practical detail.

hello,

is it ok to anoint an alligator's foot and place it in my wallet? I have an altar but i do not want to place it there bc the spirits that I serve in a different tradition are not going to be ok with animal curios on the altar with them. Thank you for your input.

I donno. To me, I think that an alligator foot wouldn't bring in a fearful love relationship, but maybe it can bring out the magic in the holder to be bolder and more confident in going fourth to draw luck in love or grab an opportunity when they were otherwise inclined not to do so from anxiety. Just a thought.

Dear melvinfrohikie --

Hoodoo is a folk magic tradition, not a set of feelings or innovations originating in personal gnosis.

An Alligator Foot has nothing to do with "a fearful love relationship."

An Alligator Foot has nothing to do with being "bolder and more confident in going fourth to draw luck in love."

An Alligator Foot has nothing to do with "anxiety."

So what does it do and why do folks carry one or place it on a money altar?

It draws and grabs hold of money!

The most common way to use it is to place a neatly fan-folded dollar bill between the claws!

crystalangel,

With an alligator foot, you can dress Money Drawing or Money Stay with me, while clutching money in the paw. With a tooth I would try a Money Drawing while praying Psalms 23 over, then the intent you want (the petition).
