I'm Doc Murphy -- Murphy to my friends. I'm not a Root Doctor (yet); I actually have a doctorate in Anthropology. I'm a professor and teach at several schools here in the Twin Cities.
I've been drawn to Hoodoo and Rootwork as a method for a long time; it's an art that speaks to my soul, and speaks back. My studies took me into the worlds of Paganism, Wicca, Heathenry (big in MN), Vodou, Santeria, Thelema, Left Hand Path trads, Latin Catholicism, and genuinely love magic and spell work... but there's nothing like the Hoodoo way, its richness, soul, and history. I also am a blues and rock singer and play a little guitar.
Magic feeds my spirit; rituals and high liturgy bore the tar out of me. I'm back on this path, baby steps, because our local store has begun carrying the lovely Lucky Mojo line, and the proprietors sent me to your website, knowing what my interests are. Love it here. Love the store. Love the historical information and folklore. And the radio show is great fun.
Well met, all -- thanks for being here. Hopefully, when the stars line up, I will look into the correspondence course down the line. I look forward to chatting with you in the meantime.

Best,
Murphy
