Heya Folks!!!

Unread post by lillynnxx23 » Fri May 24, 2013 5:17 pm

Hello to all!

I am very excited to be here and have the opportunity to meet all of you! I truly do think it's amazing that there is a site, such as this, that is up and running.
My name is Becca and I've been studying various spiritual/magickal paths for over the past ten years. I've never really found a path that hit home, until I was introduced to Hoodoo.

I am mostly here to learn, grow and try to come to a better understanding of things. I also am here to release some of the patterns of belief that came along with my earlier upbringing. Also, I happen to live with a family member who is not tolerant of magic, so I am learning to be oh so very, very discreet in my practice.

Anyways, I just wanted to introduce my self and to say thank you to all those who have had a hand in creating this site, as well as those who keep it up and running!
I look forward to the many wonderful discussions and opportunities to learn!

Thank yuh!!!

~Becca :]

Hi, Becca, and welcome.

I deleted specific mentions of a specific religion from your post because we do not allow this forum to become a complaint board against any named religion. If someone tells of their past experiences with a named religion, we edit the posts to generalize them -- you were brought up one way, now you work another way. 'Nuff said.

The reason we do this is to make it clear that ALL are welcome here, no matter what their religion, as long as they are interested in the study and practice of African American folk-magic.

Since you are interested in hoodoo, here are some links for you. You can read these pages for more information:

Hoodoo History:
http://luckymojo.com/hoodoohistory.html

Oils:
http://luckymojo.com/oils.html

Baths:

Powders:

Incense:

Candles:

Herbs:

Conditions and how we can address them:
http://luckymojo.com/hoodooataglance.html

Please notice that the board is divided into four parts:

1) News and Announcements about the Lucky Mojo Curio Company and this site.

2) Lucky Mojo Spiritual Supplies and how to use them, listed in threads by product type and product title.

3) Life Conditions and Situations, with recommended Lucky Mojo products, spells, and advice.

4) The Online Hoodoo Community, including sites, events, and outreach sponsored by Lucky Mojo.

When you post, it helps your moderators, who are recompensed volunteers, if you post in the area of the board that is best suited to the archival of your question or comment. That way they will not have to move your post or merge it into ongoing threads.

If you can't find a post you made, it may have been moved or merged. Go to your profile by clicking on your name and "search recent posts" -- you will find it.

Within each board section there are STICKY threads -- ones that always stay "stuck" to the top. These are popular discussion-threads that you can read and add to if your questions or comments fall into one of these oft-broached topics. If you don't see a "sticky" that relates to your question, feel free to start a new thread in the relevant section.

Thank you for all the welcomes! :] Also, I do apologize for being specific about my religious upbringing. My intentions were not to complain or to single out a religion in a derogatory way, nor did it occur to me that it might be taken that way. That does make complete sense though, and I will make it a point to be more general when it comes to things like that.

Ahh! Thank you for the links as well, I have plenty of things to read up on now :] If I have any questions, which I'm sure I will, I'll be sure to ask!

Yet another reason that "sneaky tricks" go way, way back :)

Lucky Mojo makes some vigil candles and things that might slide right under the radar;
The glass-encased candles also have matching oils, sachet powders, bath crystals, and incense, as you can see by browsing the Catalogue:
http://www.luckymojo.com/catalogue.html

And before I forget -- welcome to the forum!
