Only a Sheikh/walli/aamil can invoke/conjure Djinn. This involves fasting, and certain rituals which can be between 7-30 days even more.
The Sheikh is sometimes not able to speak to anyone for a long period (while summoning the Djinn). It also depends on what the Djinn is for and they are not all about bad things. Djinns can assist in love matters and finance too, however ultimately it is all up to Allah.
Having said that, a Djinn is not something you just buy for $100. It has to be prepared to one's specific situation.
Asalaam Aleyikum.

Also in Islam, you can be treated for things like black magic, demonic possession, evil eye by having Ruqyah performed for you or if you are Muslim you can perform it on your self.
Ruqyah involves the recitation of the Holy Quran (Al Fatiha, ayatul kursi the last two verses of Suratul Baqarah and the last three Suras of the Quran)
If you can get zam zam water it is preferred, however you can boil water and recite 3, 5, 7 times and blow over the water.
Drink from this water in the morning, afternoon and before going to bed and also you can wipe yourself with this water (from top to bottom) if you will feel any pains in your body.
Use your left hand to hold the cup you drink from-

It is done in odd numbers

Hello,

Hope everyone is having a good day!

So my Companion or my Familiar has passed to other side and I need to summon him.
I could really use some help with summoning spell,
I really need to bring him back I feel completely lost without him and I owe it to him to a least try to bring him from the other side.

Really Hope someone could help me, I haven't had much guidance with summoning spirits since my grandmother passed away I almost feel out of tune with my spiritual side but since he's passed.

My heart is literally breaking every day he's not here I can feel that he's not here and I feel utterly lost.

Sincerely

Hi Valkyri,

I've merged your post into the existing thread on summoning with and working with spirits. You may be able to find some guidance here. A number of AIRR workers are also skilled in mediumship and could offer you some magical coaching on the subject should you so desire: http://www.readersandrootworkers.org/wi ... Mediumship

Greetings!

I have a quick question about making a spirit trap and I am hoping some of the more experienced folks might be able to offer some insight.

I've read that a spirit trap intended to to distract a spirit with a counting exercise and keep someone safe while sleeping can be as simple as seeds (mustard or poppy) spread on the floor under the bed, a flour sieve placed under the bed, or a colander placed over a doorknob.I live in Savannah, GA which is one of the most haunted cities in the US so spirits are always a concern. I'd like to make a few loved ones something to keep them safe at night and my preference is to use seeds. I know at least a couple of my friends wouldn't be able to spread seeds under the bed and/or might like something portable that could be easily set up at a boyfriend's or girlfriend's house and I am wondering if it would be acceptable to adhere the seeds to a surface which could be to hung over the bed or over a door?

This seems like a reasonable alteration to me but maybe there is more to the equation (no pun intended) and additional concerns I haven't considered.

Thank you in advance for your time!

Kevin, you can work much more simply than that. Newbell Niles Puckett, in Folk Beliefs of the Southern Negro, records the belief that spirits can be distracted by an open Bible beside the bed -- or, for that matter, any book or even a newspaper. Some even use a piece of checkered cloth, in the belief that the witch or spirit "has to count every square -- and they'll be broke [beaten, not impoverished] before they finish."

Hope this helps,

Hi Miss Michaele!

Thank you so much for your response to my post--I really appreciate how helpful everyone is in these forums.

I didn't know about the checkered cloth but I think I had heard about the newspaper though I can't remember where. Can you think of anything that would be ineffective about attaching seeds (or cloth or newspaper) to some sort of support? I get that by doing so I would be making things more complicated than necessary but I would like to make something to give to my friends.

Oh! Fill a little vial with seeds and string it on a cord necklace. Then your friends can leave it on the nightstand or hang it from a bedpost or reading light fixture when they go to bed.

I have been working with one saint for a couple of years now. I was wondering if it is appropriate to ask a Saint to help with more than one issue? I have petitioned one to help me for something and now I have some other pressing issues. Is it more effective to burn a separate candle for a separate request? Or just add another petition to the candle I currently have burning?

If you have a good working relationship with the saint, why not light separate candles for separate issues? When I work with saints, I ask for one thing at a time or I make specific separate requests, often with separate petitions and candles.

Hello arilover16,

I am sorry to hear that your grandmother has passed. I hope it was peaceful. There are lots of traditions for staying in touch with those who have passed on. You always go to her grave and talk to her there. You can also pray that she is able to communicate with you. You can also make a space for her in your home. Get a little table or some other space and keep a picture of her there as well as things she may have liked and talk to her there. Ask her to communicate with you and she will. I keep a small ancestor altar with pictures of my ancestors and some carvings to represent eh ancestors who I don't have pictures for as well as those whose names I do not know. You can also buy some of her graveyard dirt and keep it on that space as well. Leave 3 coins at the grave site and take a handful of her dirt home with you. This is all just a start communicating with ancestors. hope this helps and I am sure others will be able to offer more advice!

Peace~

Hello, Arilover,
I LOVE Natstein's advice!
Communication occurs in many ways: symbols, numbers; odors; dreams; etc.
I recommend that if things start occurring that aren't what you normally experience, keep a notebook and write things down. You'll start seeing a pattern. Then, you'll know. You have to have patience. Usually the signs come when you're not expecting them.
And, yes, ashes can be used. You can have them on your altar.
Good luck.
Let us know when you start seeing a pattern.
It's so nice that you love your grandmother so much. It's beautiful
Take care

My Aunt raised me, my brother and cousins. She never had any children of her own.We had a somewhat turbulent relationship most of the times but many laughs when she was in a good mood. Our relationship became turbulent after she became a black Jew who after joining the church became a full out racist and wanted me to join( which I refused) and believed that a womans only duty was to serve a man.It got to the point that she wanted me to be some one in the Church's second wife (if I was lucky) but more likely 3rd or 4th wife because I was not a virgin and even though I look black ,I am mixed(my mom is Native Indian, Indian and Black), thus I would be lucky if one of them chose me to purify the blood line of her brother's seed (me).
She was in the church and started seeing someone there who degraded her sexually, emotionally , financially .However because he was black Jew and a man, she considered herself lucky. It was so bad that once I went to her house for lunch and she told me to go up the back stairs because he was in the living room and wanted peace which meant not even she should be in the living room of HER OWN HOUSE which he met her with. I did so. She took out the lunch and when I went to sit at the table to eat she told me, me and her would have to sit on a bench in the kitchen since he did not want anyone at the six seat table with him.I removed myself from her only talking when necessary.
About three months before she died she started reaching out to me and we would chat. Two weeks before she died she told me she was sorry for all wrongs she had done me and also that he destroyed and betrayed her and used her and that she was now ostracized by the church especially because she complained about it, and more so that he refused to contact her after she had helped him with obtaing some land etc. for a future they planned 12 years before. The day he got through with all he wanted which was 14 years later, he told her not to contact him again and that he didn't want her and also the fact that she never had children of her own meant she was nothing of a woman (the churchs belief). In her exact words 5 days before she died she said "I feel so decieved , so hurt and lower than a whore, I lived all my life feeling this was right. Forgive me for any wrong I did you.I now understand what you were trying to tell me.She also started doing weird things like preparing for myself and brother, and my brothers' baby, and telling me that I was the new Aunty now and calling me everyday to let me know that. The night before she died, she sat with myself and cousin and told us what she wanted us to do for our future etc. , which we found strange. It was unlike her.
The next morning she was dead from a massive stroke and heart attack.
After that I started feeling her presence. At times I would dream her and she would show me persons I had to watch out for etc and was always accurate. Once I felt her presence so intensely I got scared and asked her to show me a sign if it was her , and a towel on a shelf fell immediately.
she started showing herself to me but in quick glances. The last time I saw her was around 2am one morning. My room was freezing cold ( I live in the Tropics and use a fan at night because it is usually very hot),when she appeared Naked at the side of my bed and woke me up( I felt as if I was in a trance), and seemed to be in a hurry. She said to me , ask me anything now.I started asking her questions and she answered even giving me time spans when the events would occur. She then started to get really anxious ,antsy and angry as if someone was pursuing her and said thats enough. I have to go now and vanished. Then I got up and the temperature in my room came back to normal.Everything she gave me an answer to that night came through in the exact time span. However since that visitation I have never felt her presence, dreamt of her or seen her again.
I practice candle magic and get fairly good results. I would like to know of a spell or ritual I can use to contact her .Thanks.

Hello Shab,

Also if you go to this thread there is more information on working with Ancestors and spirits. The first chunk of posts is talking about demons so don't worry about reading those but by the bottom of the first page and into the second page there is some good information on contacting and working with spirits and ancestors.

I am not sure if this has been answered somewhere already, but I wanted to know how I can go about properly thanking God and the Spirits for helping me out. And I don't mean ONLY after my wish/petition has been answered. I am using LM oils every day and they obviously help me be more attractive, eloquent, etc. So I should definitely properly thank all Spiritual Entities who have made this possible. Any ideas? Thank you in advance!

funnypupster, there are may ways to show your appreciate to your allies. Many of them are listed here in the forums. I would highly recommend searching around a bit to get some ideas. Here are some of my favorite, and simple, things that shows this appreciation.

-Create an altar for these spirits and leave offerings. This can be something as simple as a bowl of water, a flower, or a small plate of food.
-Say your prayers of gratitude.
-Go to church and make offerings, either with money or your time, to help the community.
-Volunteer to help those less fortunate than yourself.

Being grateful and expressing that gratitude (with words, prayers, or actions) is some of the most powerful work that you can do. Not only does this show that you are thankful for Their divine assistance, but it helps to keep the good stuff coming into your life!

A BIG Thank You!

No words can be found for the love, light and healing I have felt as a result of my 4 days prayer to Archangels, AA Raphael, AAMichael, AAGabriel and AAUriel. Blessed Archangels to you, I extend my unconditional love, devotion and prayers. I promise to continue to serve others with love and compassion, to not judge anyone, to help those less fortunate than myself, to continue teaching others of you and to never forget where I once was - to where I've been lifted-up as you and the Divine saved me. My thanks goes on an eternity and is still not enough.

Thank you Archangels Raphael, Michael, Gabriel and Uriel.

(I hope I'm posting this to right thread. Apologies if not.)

I'm looking for any information about working with the Three Kings (or the Three Magi if you prefer) in Hoodoo.

I was wondering if anyone might know any more - such as to what extent they are worked with collectively and/or individually. I believe, for instance, Caspar is occasionally considered a saint in his own right.

Any elucidation on such matters would be most gratefully received.

Best,

M.

mozlilzom,

The Three Kings are best known in hoodoo as a brand of charcoal and resin incense.

They are extremely popular in German, Dutch, and other European forms of folk-Catholic practice, and in America among the Pennsylvania Germans -- but because most African Americans are Protestants, they never became as well-known in the hoodoo community. Sorry.

Read more here on how they are approached in Catholic forlk magic:

Thank you, miss cat.

I had read about a few connected customs - such as the Reyes Magos giving kids presents on the day of Epiphany in Spain - but the clarification about their favour in (folk) Catholicism makes a lot of sense.

Can I ask if you are aware of a "standard" makeup of Three Kings incense? Obviously, the two main ingredients are frankincense and myrrh, but I've seen the third given as anything from benzoin to sandalwood. Are any of these more common or more traditional in Hoodoo?

Best,

M.

A question: generally, when do people turn to the spirits for help as opposed to relying on materia? Having read much of Harry Middleton Hyatt's corpus and material on this site, I understand that many traditional workers didn't incorporate angels or saints into their practice at all.

What do people here think? When would you turn to, say, a saint or deity (or the dead), and when would you be more likely to rely on herbs and materia?

Hello, mthwgrmn,
Wow! What a great question! And a hard one too!!
Every practitioner is different. Everyone.
For readings, I call on my spirit guides, guardian angels, Ancestors, spirits of the Tarot (and if I am reading a regular deck of cards, I call on the Chinese spirit because I read a Chinese way).
I bless everything I use (except for things that I buy from Lucky Mojo because they are already blessed),. I call on the spirits of the plants and minerals that are used. And the animal spirits (if I'm using them).
When I am really pissed off and am throwing down tricks, I don't call on anybody. Spells still work.
It just depends.
You will know when and when not to call them. It takes time but spirit will guide you.
Take care

In traditional conjure you aren't going to find a ranking system or clear division between when you work with an herb or with a spirit because in hoodoo everything is a spirit and what is most powerful is what is right for your situation. As far as deity, God is called upon in all traditional hoodoo.

Hi mthwgrmn,

Awesome question! Like Miss Aida said, everyone is different and a ton of that has to do with religious background, comfort level, teachers, and simply being guided by spirit. There's been a ton of discussion on this on the forum. Also, check out AIRR's pages on the subject. http://readersandrootworkers.org/wiki/C ... pirit_Work

Personally, I was raised episcopalian and have deep familiarity with Catholic/folk catholic teachings as well as a southern baptist background on one side of the family. For me, this means I am super comfortable working with various saints, graveyard work (we southerners love our graveyards), and ancestry work because I was raised on it. Spirit work was one of the aspects of hoodoo that came most naturally to me.

Now, whether I work with saints, spirits, or ancestors in my various workings really depends on a process of divination, guidance, and experience. If you are open and experienced with spirit work, sometimes they just kinda appear and say, hey, I can help with this. Sometimes, it seems logical to use a particular saint or spirit and approach them and ask them for aid. It just varies so much.

To get more specific, I often use ancestors for love work, protection work, and prosperity work. They want to see me happy and healthy so that is a natural fit.

For protection and reversal work, I often use graveyard spirits of soldiers, Michael Archangel, or St. Cipriano.

In love work, however, I rarely use saints unless....

You get the idea! Really hoping some other people chime in because I'm always interested in hearing about this subject.

Blessings!

I was wondering how I would go about summoning a spirit that would guide me in financial areas of life. Example :where to send my job resume or when to spend money or when to save money? What street to walk on to find a $10 bill.

How does one work with the Virgin Mary in general as a whole? Does anyone know what her specific apparitions are petitioned for? Is it also true that she can be petitioned for any good/just cause you can think of?

Also, will a spirit sometimes try to twist your words around in order to give you something you don't want? Meaning that one would have to be very careful in choosing one's words when petitioning a spirit? I'm guessing this would be especially true for something like a demon.

I believe with spirits it is best to have a very very clear and well worded petition, so nothing can be mistaken.

Hello, Luckbewithme876,
Yes, you can work with the Virgin Mary for almost everything.
And here is a list of Saints for you to browse www.luckymojo.com/patronsaints.html
Now, if you're talking about general spirits (as opposed to Saints), yes, that could happen if it is a pestilent spirit (but why would you petition one of them?).
As Shantilly Lace has stated, always be clear and concise with your petitions (no matter who you are petitioning.
I always tell folks to write down their request and think about it, revise it, etc., before making it. Then, if you're praying more than once, use that piece of paper to make the request consistent.
Take care

Thank you. I wasn't planning on petitioning a bad spirit, but it wouldn't hurt to know.

Hi Luckbewithme876,

A good way of working with the Virgin Mary is through the use of Novena or by saying the Rosary (or at least, that's the way she's petitionned and worked with in the Catholic Faith which is where she has a great following). You could also go to a Catholic Church and burn a lampion to her there. For her different apparitions, here's a short list:

Our Lady of Fatima - Establish a relationship with her by saying the rosary regularly and taking at least 15 minutes each week to meditate on her Immaculate Heart. She is petitionned for atonement and forgiveness from wrong action, for peace and for an end to war.
Our Lady of Perpetual Help - She is petitionned for refuge, relief from anxiety and fear and for anything needed - even if you feel it is trite or frivolous.
Our Lady of Mount Carmel - She is petitionned for protection of the person and family as well as when one needs a sense of belonging (family). If you have an altar for this apparition of the Mother, a scapular is appropriate to keep there. You could also wear one while working with her.
The Mother of Sorrows (Mater Dolorosa) - She is petitionned in times of grief and pain (due to death of someone close) or when one has a child in pain.
Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal - To work with this apparition, it is customary to have (and wear!) a Miraculous Medal (also known as a Medal of the Immaculate Conception). Usually, wearers are in search of and working toward Grace, sanctity and a purer, more Holy life.
Our Lady of Guadalupe - Patron of Mexico and only apparition of Mary in the Americas. She can be appealed to for comfort, love, protection and acceptance without judgment. Roses are an appropriate offering for her (as well as for most forms of the Virgin Mary).
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart - For help with devotion and surrender (to God) as well as salvation of the eternal soul. Also for mercy and clemency from the courts and help in difficult/desperate causes.

Wow thanks! :D The Rosary is great because I already have one and pray it fairly regularly. Is there any particular "face" of hers that's petitioned for romance and/or money?

For romance and/or money I'd work with Our Lady of Perpetual Help. That said, you might also want to consider a Saint more suited to those areas such as San Martin Caballero for money. For long-lasting marriage type love the Virgin is wonderful, but for romantic one-night-stand type of stuff - I'd stay away. For domination in love, consider Saint-Martha th

I didn't think she's the type to go to for one night stands anyways. I was just wondering what part of her to work for those purposes with since I feel a strong connection for her and her lore. Thanks again Aura.

Hi, I'm having an issue out there and I didn't find a general topic/discussion about saints. How one can tell if a specific saint will agree to help you for a specific job on mind? Are we to ask a general assistance to all of the saints for a specific help and follow the saint which sign appears to us, meaning that he/she agrees to help us? For example if you ask St-Peter for help, but you are seeing/encountering St-Martha's name instead afterwards, does it means that for this specific request St-Martha is willing to help, but do not disturb St-Peter with a petition? I tried to find info about that on the LM site, but there was info how to request a specific saint's help, not how to find which one will agree to help us. Maybe I missed the info, as there is so much to read, so please help on this one as ot is an important question. Thanks for everything!!! :?

Thank you Sacred Heart of Jesus!
Thank you St-Jude, I believe in your help!
Thank you St-Antony for your help!!!

Dragonfly72, all of you 'examples.' are about, in my opinion, how you build or develop a relationship with Saints. Sometimes the answer may come in a dream, or as you mentioned above. I would get a reading and ask. I will use a personal example, each time, I have lost an item, of course, I petition Saint Anthony, he responds immediately, how? Well all of a sudden, where that item is located comes to my mind. There maybe once just maybe twice, I did not receive an answer, but each time, that particular item was not really "lost."

Thanks for the info! However if you ask say St-Jude for help but you see suddenly the name of another saint popping out, does it means that the other saint should be petitioned instead, even if started to petition St-Jude first? What about continuing working with St-Jude? Thanks again, I don't know if my question is clear enough...Basically what if you are working with a saint and suddenly another saint's name appears everywhere instead of the name of the first one? What does it means???

No, your question is not clear enough, and use the actual situation, if not too personal. Now, St. Jude never really appreciated my asking for help, and I'm thinking that it was because the situation was not a hopeless cause. And you know what, it was not. But as I said earlier asking a reader to verify is the way to go...no guesswork.

Whenever I do work that puts me in contact with spirits, I get completely cross-eyed fatigued and fall asleep (once I get home, I don't just collapse). I'm usually totally out for several hours and don't wake up rested at all, my limbs are really heavy, and my tongue feels too big for my mouth, so I probably come across as inebriated. I won't drive anywhere after one of these episodes. It's kind of like low blood sugar on a really humid day. I'm not talking serious spell work or anything, it's often completely unintentional, like when I was a kid playing with the Parker Brothers Ouija board, or recently after visiting a civil war cemetery nearby. It can also happen when I am being intentional, like after doing candle magic. I'm trying to learn, but I keep passing out, and it's hard for me to stay awake the next day. What do you do to preserve your personal energy and stay grounded? Strenuous exercise seems to help, but that's not always practical. I feel like there's something really basic that I'm missing. Thanks for any advice.

Dear Jubilee,

A weekly or daily protective bath - again, I recommend Protection products - is probably a good idea. Also, a cleansing bath - or at least a sprinkle, or standing in incense smoke - is a wise precaution.

When you're doing spiritual work or visiting cemeteries, carry a whole angelica root in your pocket. First, though, you will bless the root with prayer and an appropriate oil or, such as Protection (not Fiery Wall of Protection, which can generate a lot of drama).

Also, have an open Bible in the room when you're doing spiritual work. Open it to one of the protection psalms such as psalm 91. Also, I like this verse from Psalm 54: "For strangers are risen up against me, and oppressors seek after my soul: they have not set God before them. Behold, God is mine helper: the Lord is with them that uphold my soul. He shall reward evil unto my enemies: cut them off in thy truth."

Also, have you read Draja Mickaharic's Communing with the Spirits? You will find much good advice there.

Good luck,

Miss Michaele

Thank you Miss Michaele - I will definitely look into all of these suggestions and try them. I don't have the root or protection products yet, but do have Chinese wash and van van oil that I will use until i can get an order in. I just received Hoodoo Bible Magic, which I love, and I'll follow your advice on the psalms. I'll get that book you recommended. Thank you for your good advice!
