This forum is to help people chose and use LuckyMojo products, not to instruct people in spell craft. I dress the ones I make and sell with different protection oils. If you do not know how to make one then find someone that does and buy one.

Chicken feet

What would you use chicken feet for? I have 4 salt curing feet of black frizzle roosters that I have made myself and I want to know if they have any significance in hoodoo. Thanks, Knotworker

They can be used for protection, uncrossing work, that sort of thing if you know how. You also have to fix them, you can't just start using any old dried chicken foot and call it good. As to how to actually use them once they are fix, well some people (myself included) make them into amulets for protection.

that article is what led me to get black frizzle chickens and black minorcas, but there isn't anything about thier feet in the article.I am guessing "fix" means to empower?

No, to fix means to prepare for magical use.

Good luck.

can anyone illuminate how to prepare a chicken foot for magical use mor specifically? also, is it okay to use chicken feet from a chicken you found? or doe they have to be specially harvested in a certain way? any info would help vastly.

Is the Chicken foot that is sold as a curio through Lucky Mojo plain and dried, or painted and decorated, ect?

Thank You!

Hello, mamabird39,
I've never heard of using a chicken foot for anything other than protection and clearing away negativity.
I have Fiery Wall of Protection on my Chicken foot and it hangs on my car's rear view mirror.
I've just never heard of it bringing money, love, & luck
Take care

i recently read somewhere that chicken feet can be used in crossings buried in a graveyard asking for the help of spirits. The feet represent the feet of the person to be crossed, and by burying the feet, one is dragging the soul of the crossed person down in the grave. It sounded interesting from a symbolic point of view and i wondered what your thoughts on this would be?

Hello, konstanta ,

Is this on a Lucky Mojo webpage?

Please don't tell me where it is or isn't. LOL

But no, I am not familiar with this in Hoodoo. I have heard this in other Spiritual practices. But this is a Hoodoo forum.

Take care

Miss Aida, I read it on a Hoodoo website - not sure if the blogger is affiliated with Lucky Mojo, or this was a particularly eclectic post taking inspiration from other traditions (can pm you the link?). Hence my question on this forum to the Hoodoo experts :) So in your opinion and expertise, chicken feet cannot be used to represent the feet of a person in Hoodoo? Is that because in Hoodoo tradition chicken feet are used for something else e.g.protection?

Hello, konstanta ,

I have never heard of using chicken feet to represent the feet of a person. We usually work with the person's socks or shoes for that purpose, or a photo.

I collect chicken feet. Not because I personally think they will give me good luck but just because for some reason I like the way they look. I have an assortment of different ones. I don't necessarily believe they would bring good luck but if by chance they influence in a good way then I am fine with that.

Hello Stringey,

Welcome to the Lucky Mojo forum. That's cool you collect chicken feet and that the curio draws you to it. If you want to read about how they could be used magically, scroll up through this thread and read the other posts.

Take care.

Would anyone be able to recommend how to prepare the chicken foot to paint or what type of paint to use? Would it be best to use kilz first and then any old paint will do? How would fixing it with oils (after painting) affect the paint?

Thanks, I've never painted a chicken foot, but I sure hope someone can help me do it right the first time!!

Hello, amithyzt,

Great question!

I know of one person who just used nail polish and another who used spray paint.

In both cases, they anointed the foot after the paint had dried.

My recommendation is to pray over the foot after it is dehydrated. Then paint or cover with nail polish, then anoint with oil.

Take care

Thank you Ms. Aida!

I have never actually tried to dehydrate anything that wasn't a plant.. So maybe for future projects, but this time I bought from lucky mojo. I'm uncertain whether they've been prayed over or oiled beforehand?

I thought about spray paint, perhaps spraying a primer that will seal against any oils seeping through from within, then a simple acrylic with a clear sealant to prevent any applied oils from interacting with the paint beneath. I'll let you know my confidence level after one is completed. Haha!

Cheers!

1. How do you properly fix and care for a chicken foot purchased (from Lucky Mojo) for cleansing? Is it fed and annointed like roots? kept in a special box?

2. What is the proper way to cleanse yourself with the foot? A prayer? A Psalm? Head to toe I've heard... Does it touch your body or is it held an inch or two away from my skin?

THANK YOU!!!

Aphroditemarie

You are in the thread on the forum that has a lot questions and answers on this topic.

1) I think your first question has already been answered. Storage is your own decision to make.

2) For cleansing, you would gently touch the skin, moving top to bottom. It is similar to, but a little different than ,cleansing with a black chicken feather whisk, a black bird wing, or an egg rolled over the body.

Enjoy. Edward T

Hello,

I want to hang a chicken foot over my door for protection but I want to keep it out of plain sight so I was thinking of hiding it in a bag over the door behind a frame of St Michael that I have also hanging. I wanted to know if this is ok to do? I live with other family members and they might tamper with the foot if they see it which is why I want to hide it. If not what other places in someones house are good ideas? Thank you

freda222 ,

You can hang a chicken foot in a bag and hide it, you can also buy a door reef wreath and decorate it, then hide the foot inside of it, this is another sneaky way to conceal the work.
