Hey!

I've been recently drawn to the Crucible Of Courage line of products. I'm hoping to find a way to use these products to give me courage on-stage and reduce stage fright. Can this formula help with this situation? I am familiar with Crown Of Success and the use of Deer's Tongue for eloquence, but the fright always prevails..

HI Marcoa,
You can use the Crucible of Courage products to help you with your stage fright and assist you in developing a charismatic stage appeal. I would combine the Crucible of Courage products with Crown of Success and Look Me Over (if you are aiming to get attention) formulas as well. You can bathe in the bath salts prior to performances, anoint yourself with the oils and lightly dust yourself with the sachet powders. You can also of course get a mojo bag addressing the need for courage and success in your performances.

good luck,

I had a friend do some research for me on a certain... trick I guess it would be called. I'm fairly new to hoodoo so I'm not sure what this would technically be classified as.

Anyway, I'm trying to verify what the effects would be. I don't want to say what I was told its for in case it would taint the answers I get, though.

I'm sorry for being so vague on this one, I'm just trying to watch my back because apparently the root workers around here are vicious and prone to giving misinformation. I don't guess it would hurt to give a bit more information though.

It's supposed to affect me more than anyone else, if that helps. I

'm supposed to take on the appearance of the person in the picture.

Anywho, here is the procedure:

On the Full Moon mix equal parts Vervain, Queen's root, and Yerba Santa leaves. Get a new mirror that's never been used by you (never caught your reflection) and rub the mirror with the mixture. Capture another person's picture in the mirror(while avoiding capturing your own) and wrap it in a velvet cover and wait for the New Moon.

Does anyone have any idea on whether that is what this spell is actually supposed to?

Can anyone help?

That's not a hoodoo spell. The use of the "velvet cover" and other aspects of it mark it as either a European folk magic spell or, possibly -- given the notion that it will cause you to gain another person's physical appearance -- just something fictional.

To be honest, that sounds like something out of a movie, or out of some teen-witch book.

The herbs you mention don't seem to form any coherent connection to each other, and that whole interest in altering appearance is much more a modern thing that's arisen with movies like 'the craft' than it ever did with hoodoo, to the best of my knowledge.

I would be interested in hearing what other board members have to say about this.

Well, it won't make you look like someone else, "Charmed" this ain't. But I can't see it hurting you, none of those herbs are very mean.

Swamp_Hunter,

I am not sure about the authenticity of this trick with respect to African American conjure or hodoo. As Silverpony stated, the mixture of Vervain (Verbena), Queen's Root, and Yerba Santa is strange. If you were working on something to promote love, blessings, and luck in your life then the combo would make sense, but from what you have given us it sounds like you want to altar your appearance by capturing someone else's appearance and then transferring it over to yourself.

Now there are invisibility spells in Hoodoo and there are Attract/Compel/Want me spells in Hoodoo, but I have not heard about taking on the appearance of somebody else.

Certainly the velvet cover seems off to me -- flannel and cotton muslin are much more common materials in traditional Hoodoo.

The injunction not to catch your own reflection in the mirror does resonate to me from other types of conjure work, but they are reversing and cursing works -- not the kind of work I would expect to see in conjunction with those three herbs.

The lunar timing also strikes me as being a bit off -- I know that many workers time their work to lunar phases to some degree, but a very firm "it must be started on the full moon..." strikes me as more European than African American.

This sounds really interesting. How effective is this method, I mean how fast will one notice actual weight loss?

That makes sense. At the moment I'm researching things to alter people's perceptions. Things that would cause you to be overlooked or unnoticable or to confuse you with someone else, and I asked my friend to look into for me as he has access to a couple of people who are fairly well known rootworkers in the area. He told me about two techniques he had been given by others. One was kind of a meditative technique that is apparently pretty hard to pull off and the person that told him about it said she had only known one person who could do it and he had to be high, and this was the other he came up with.

I've been warned that a lot of the people who are into hoodoo around here are very territorial and dont like to share their secrets, and are not above handing out misinformation or actively blocking someone from working for little to know reason. My friend actually warned me about it himself. So I'm thinking thats probably what happened here.

If you guys don't think it will hurt anybody, I'll go ahead and try it if I can ever get the materials. I just wanted to make sure noone would be negatively impacted.

Thanks for the insight.

Edit: Just to make sure, The instructions said Queen's Root not Queen Elizabeth Root. Not sure if those are the same thing. Further research shows that Queen's root is also known as Stillingia Sylvatica. I'm sure you guys would know better than me about herbs cause I know very little about them and my affinities lie elsewhere, but I would just like some clarification on that if you guys don't mind.

Hello, is it possible to increase after puberty or increase the chance of growing taller at all? I am 19 this year and there have not been any changes in my height for the past few years.

I'm not a rootworker, but when it comes to height, you pretty much have what your DNA gives you. If you haven't already, talk to your doctor so you can rule out anything medical. And take heart, my uncle went from being 5'6" in high school to 5'11" when he was 21.

It's not a spell, but horsetail fern is good for hair health and restoration. It has high (but safe) levels of naturally occurring silica which stimulate hair growth and make hair (and nails) shinier and stronger. Put it in a food processor and work it into a paste and eat it by the spoonful, as much as you think you need (as long as you don't make yourself sick, about 6 Tablespoons a day until you notice results is good) or, dry it out, chop it up and make a tea of it...though you won't get as much silica it probably won't taste so $#!TTY

P.S. if you've had two operations I'm guessing you're probably experiencing higher than normal levels of stress. Stress produces cortisol which can have a negative effect on blood flow and therefore reduce the efficiency with which your body distributes nutrients...which would be a perfect explanation on the hair loss. If stress is an issue you think may be causing the problem, take a lot of hot baths with lavender, drink a lot of chamomile tea and eat a lot of horsetail and you'll probably start seeing hair again in no time.

if its just from anesthesia it will grow back on its own it just takes time, you can also take biotin you can get at any health food store there are also biotin enhanced shampoos but i personally dont believe those help much. Mine fell out from my gastric bypass, the biotin pills seemed to help me and while my hair is still thinner than it was no one who didnt know me before can tell theres any sort of a problem. Its not like body hair head hair grows slower give it a month for every half inch of growth on average and for some like blondes it can be much slower it takes my neice a year to get 3 inches of hair growth, which saves her a bundle on hair cuts but can be rather frustrating for her in other ways.

If a person has an overt and reliable charism, say, for example, speaking in tongues, or some such, would they bring it to the work as when fixing a mojo hand or praying over a bath?

My sense would be that "flaunt it if you got it" is good hoodooing but...

It would depend on what their ability was and how traditional of a practitioner they were. Speaking in Tongues is done in some Churches, it can be a powerful form of healing and preaching and a worker who had that ability could bring it to bear on their work and it would be working in a traditional manner. But if I had the ability to summon up jinn and I wanted to incorporate that in my rootwork it would not be traditional (because we are talking two way distinct cultures here) so if I am a traditional worker I would not do it, and if I did it, I would not be working in a traditional manner. Make sense?

take care,

Very much. Is this a sense of "savoir faire" that seems to enter in to discussion of any "fluency" which is perhaps always at the root/base of things. A "good" Roman Catholic, a "good" Tuscan cook. Often, its what you "don't do " culturally that proves your stuff but then what is one's endgame in Conjure. A personal matter obviously.

Thanks Bri

Hello, I am new to the group and have an annoying issue. I know there are thousands of different spells out there, but I would like help for myself. I have two major issues that are preventing me from living my life and if I could have help with at least one of them, I would be a much happier person. 1) I sweat way too much. It is to the point where I don't do certain things because of this issue. Is there any spell to stop sweating so darn much? 2) I lack confidence. Could be related to my first issue. ANY help would be greatly appreciated. This is a serious matter for me.

Well it's not a spell, but some people use the salt crystal deoderant, or some companies have clinical strength deoderant. I've also seen people get botox in their pits. I guess it depends on what your willing to do. Your confidence you could use a white skull candle and write a petition that you want more confidence. Make sure that you believe that you'll have more confidence because if you don't believe then it won't work.

Going through some weight loss issues myself, stick at it and you'll get there. You've probably hit a plateau because your body is building muscle mass from the exercise.

You may also want to consider candle magic - the visual symbolism of the wax melting is a powerful psychological link to the concept of fat 'melting off' or 'burning off'. You could annoint a candle with the weight loss oil and go from there.

I use candle work as a tangible connection to visualisation, and I use a few other techniques as well. I find candle work is very effective for me. If you have an affinity for candles and can make that connection in your mind, you should have every success.

Hi theusurper:

I'm so sorry to hear about your son. The Healing Miracle line of Lucky Mojo products are wonderful; I've used them for my friend who had major heart surgery this summer, and for my baby niece who had bad acid reflux and eating issues from birth. I had the Healing Miracle vigil candles set for both people at LM's altar.

I'd also look at the Blessing line of products; they're good for general healing. They're also good for relaxing your nerves :) Speaking as a nurse, I'd be wary about using any mojo powders or herbs directly *on* your son right now, at least until his doctors say it's safe. Getting a picture of him in his hospital bed and perhaps asking a professional rootworker to work with that would be a great place to start.

I'll pray for you.

My sister was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor and the Doctors have told her that she needs to eat more to make sure that she is healthy enough for her operation. She'll eat about 4 bites, but she doesn't eat enough; she'll push around the food on her plate and wait for my parents to walk out of the room and then she'll throw it away. She has other medical problems so the doctors do not want to prescribe her with any medications that could increase her appetite and even if they did my sister hates swallowing pills, so is there a candle or a kit that i could use to increase her appetite?

Any ideas is greatly appreciated. :?:

You could work with the Healing Miracle products with the intent to increase the appetite to ensure healing. You could also work some Blessing on her appetite, maybe with some Nature products with some Queen Elizabeth Root Oil to help increase her vitality.

You could also contact a rootworker through AIRR to get other ideas, though this is more of a medical issue than a magical one.

Have you thought of having her see a naturopath for ideas of naturally stimulating her appetite?

I suggested it to her to go see someone that could teach her about certain foods that will help her, but she is stubborn and won't go, even though it is more medical then magical, but I'm hoping that it will motivate her to eat a little more.

Thanks for the advice. I'll keep looking around foe things. I figured I could use a white skull candle with some oil and herbs.

Thanks.

Why not make a doll baby, and stuff it with a little more stuffing each day? You could even cut little food-shaped bits of paper or felt and stuff the doll baby with that. Dress the baby with some healing oil, and as you 'feed' it a little more each day, say something like "this food is making my sister healthy."

That is so inventive! I will do some research on baby dolls and such; that just might work.

Thank You!

Perhaps you could use a white skull candle, and do some convincing of her to eat more.

I am going to do a white skull candle so my sister will eat more so she will be healthy enough to operate on (she has a brain tumor). I wanted to know what herbs could I roll this candle in to help stimulate her hunger, so she'll eat more?

Thanks

If you're going to do the skull candle, why not hollow out the mouth area and put your retition paper in there, to symbolise eating?

O that's nifty too. The only thing that I wouldn't like is when the paper caught fire that happened to me once.

If you roll the paper up really tightly, it should just smoulder away rather than catching all at once. If you keep your candle in something like a roasting dish, though, it'll be fine even if it does catch fire. Mind you, fire is the element I work best with. Do you find you have a better affinity for one of the others? A water spell may help shrink the tumour.

Hi all,
I am in the process of writing a book on metaphysical principles...I am full of ideas but have writers block when it comes to the actual task. :o
It is a labor of love and i am probably going to end up self publishing it and so there are no editorial deadlines which makes the procrastination problem even worse.... :(
i love candle spells and honey jars, so any ideas for those would be appreciated :)
also any ideas to create more interest in the book when i send the proposal to publishers and editors :?: :?:
thanks

Angels Metatron and Gabriel can help with writing; Crown of Success and King Solomon Wisdom would be good too.

Ok, as a writer, I can tell you what works for me;

treat it as a job. Get out of your house to write, even if it is only the library with your laptop. Give yourself deadlines of how many pages you will produce a day and DO NOT stop until you get them. You can always edit the work later. If you want to be a writer, then you must be self-motivated and self-disciplined.

You should be thinking about an agent first, because most writers need agents now.

@ Literary Lioness: I agree completely. I rarely get stuff done when I'm at home.

As far as a ritual goes, I would gather a lodestone and some magnetic sand, and then I would go out and purchase one of those magnetic poetry sets, just the general, all-purpose edition, although if you can find it, you could go with a special edition - perhaps a spiritual one, since that's what your book is about. Anyhow, break apart the words and sift through them carefully, selecting those words that really draw your attention, the ones that jump out. Don't try to compose anything, just treat each word as its own entity and try to feel the virtue of the word as an individual thing rather than a part of a poem or sentence. Once you have these words all selected, do as you wish with the rest, and conduct a ritual wherein you arrange the selected words on the lodestone, and dress the whole thing with magnetic sand, reserving some for later in a small dish next to the lodestone charm. Every time you go out to write, add a little more magnetic sand from the dish to the word-encrusted lodestone, and picture your spirits of choice hovering around you, blessing you and your writing with eloquence, style, and easy inspiration. Once your book is written, I would bury the lodestone charm in your yard with the appropriate prayers, gratitude and solemnity.
I wish you all the success you wish yourself!
Peace & Love,
Josh

thank you Mary, Jesterjosh and Cleopatra.
I did follow some of that advice this evening, did not go out of the house cuz the kids are home, but did shut myself in for an hour and a half and write the outline of the next chapter as well as fleshed out and organized the chapter contents. Feel so energized. Also trying to get a feel of how many pages per chapter and thereby create a deadlines calendar for myself.

Jesterjosh, i have the magnetic love poetry my hubby gave me once..i will check those out and see if i can make use of them, but otherwise will check out a general purpose one., it is an interesting idea, i will certainly test it out. thank you. what is a good source of lodestones , i mean other than LM? would magnets work just as well?

@Mary: can you suggest what to do in order to find an agent ? i mean spell wise and other wise.

I dont have any LM products right now but am hoping that some will arrive next week: Fast luck, van van, bossfix, road opener and steady work...ordered from a job hunting perspective: can these be applied for agent search or do u all recommend something else?

wow, looks like nobody gave you any love on this post. It says July but I'll tell you anyway. Fennel seed and fenugreek stimulate the appetite. Fennel increases stomach secretion and gases which thus supports a working metabolism. Ginger is also a good remedy. lets see, peppermint, will help to brighten her outlook on eating, not sure of the case if she is ano or just cant eat enough, but peppermint stimulates metabolic functions as well.

Hello,

Can anyone recommend any good beauty and makeover or transformation spells? I'm in the process of trying to reinvent and improve my appearance but I'm having a hard time figuring out the best way to go about doing it. Thanks in advance :D

Well you can hire a personal stylist to help you figure out what styles are most flattering on you. Many large department stores offer free personal shoppers, and stores like MAC and Sephora will give you cosmetic tutorials so you can learn what colors work on you, and how to apply the various products effectively. Good salons like Vidal Sassoon and Fiorio often specialize in very good hair styles that are very simple to style and upkeep once you are home. Those avenues would be the most directly effective forms of magic.

For you own self confidence, you can work magically with Crucible of Courage, Healing, Crown of Success, and other such formulas. To get others to notice you, you can do Look Me Over work.
