Lucky Mojo is proud to announce the publication of a new book by Miss cat yronwode, Lucky Mojo's creator and driving force. In "Paper In My Shoe," Miss cat teaches the reader how to create effective petition papers for hoodoo work.

"Paper In My Shoe" debuts at the 8th Annual Hoodoo Heritage Festival in Forestville, California, May 16th-17th, 2015, and a copy is included in the admission package for the event, because Miss cat is teaching a workshop on how to do this work. When listing qualities you want in a job, partner, home, etc., do you only list the attributes you'd like to draw toward you, or should you also specify what you would like to avoid?

For example, I have an ex-boyfriend who was great, but he also happened to have a serious drug problem which caused him to lose his job & his car. He was still a nice guy but he had major issues that to this day he has not overcome (We dated 10 years ago). I currently live in a great neighborhood in what appears to be a great and affordable apartment, but below the surface it's not so fabulous because things were hidden when I initially looked at it. Which, goes to show that the expression, "you get what you pay for" is true. I'd like to avoid situations like these. I'd like to be in a relationship with someone who is not physically, verbally, or emotionally abusive, who doesn't engage in illegal activity or have any sort of chemical dependency, and I'd like whatever it is I want in a home. Truth be told, my apartment would be great if I were an 18 year old college student because it's in the best neighborhood around, but I'm not 18 anymore.

Is writing things like: no addicts, sociopaths, married men, or abusive creepsters a negative thing to do? What I do not want is of most importance. Is it a question of how I word things? Autumn of 2013 I did an attraction spell without specifying any qualities at all & I ended up with two of the worst matches ever, one of whom became obsessive. Help!

Thanks!

Ruby

Hello, Ruby74,

I would reword this

"A single man who is emotionally and physically healthy and who loves me and treats me with respect (<----this is just an example)

Good luck

See? What you want in the man negates what you don't want in a man

What's a strong petition for a clarity candle if you want open and honest communication about your relationship with someone? For instance, a romantic partner.

Hello 89bingo,

It would not hurt for you to do the blockbuster spell as well if you feel there is something blocking your well being. In terms if when you will see results this really varies from case to case. To be certain I would suggest getting a reading with a reputable reader such as the ones at AIRR (www.readersandrootworkers.org). You may see signs that the work is accomplishing your goals but there will vary from situation to situation. If you see things starting to go smoother or feeling more open then you will know it is working. If things stay stuck or do not change then it tells you that there is more work to be done. Give it a little bit of time to work a month or two at least before you decide to do more work. Again if you are ever in doubt getting a reading can give you a clear view of what may need to be or not need to be done.

Peace~

Nathen

I am writing a petition and would like some help-

My boyfriend and I have been together for 5 months and are in a committed relationship. He has lingering hurt from a past relationship and still has contact with her. The concern is not that he'll return to her but that it seems that there are times that scratching at the scab if you will seems to cause him to become emotionally hurt again and causes him to withdraw a bit from our relationship.

It was advised by Miss Aida that I start with a Break Up candle. How should I starte the petition since they are already broken up? "___ is freed from the hurt of the past relationship with ____" or some other way? "___ breaks off any feeling and contact with ___" better? I want to make sure I am very clear as I don't want this to conflict with our relationship.

Thanks!!!

Hi- I was wondering about something. I want to do a working for a client. They have legally changed their name. For the working, do I use their birth name, or the new legal one? I only know them by their new name, but I do know their birth name. Blessings...

In my personal experience, i have found that whatever name they go by works fine. However, it is good practice grounded in an old African tradition i know, to use their birth name. That is the name they were given at birth, this is supposed to be the name with the strongest connection to them. Hope i have helped.
Thank you AA Michael.

Hello, stacia,

Please post in the appropriate subforum and the appropriate thread.

And please don't start new topics.

Just go the upper right hand corner of any page on this forum. In the dark green area, there is a white search box and type in your query.

Thank you.

And your answer from Lucktrader is absolutely correct

Hi,just would like to know the way to write out a petition name paper, say for break up to go in a vinegar jar, would it be John doe in red in and crossed with her name,or crossed with just a command like break up,or break up with Meg,do you write in a circle around it then like a petition?same for her when writing name, what would it be crossed with his name or break up,thanks

And when making one say for return to me,would you write name crossed with, return to me or return to Laura,or just write out our two names crossed?if it was on a pic used as a name petition paper, instead of folding it could it be used just to put a candle on top of it? Thank you.

Hello, flames_dancer ,

Miss cat just wrote a book on petition papers. Here it is:

www.luckymojo.com/paperinmyshoe.html

It would be: Write the person's name and cross it with "break up with ___". That's the way I do it plus encircling it.

Please read the pages on this thread for ideas.

Take care

A person will be going to court for a 2nd time in a month. I wanted to do a petition, perhaps for good luck since I don't know the name of the judge etc.

How exactly do I do the petition? I plan to dress the candle in fast luck and attraction oils.

I have a paper that symbolically represents a goal I am trying to achieve, but I'm not sure how to use it. I'm trying to get my coworker to quit their job, and I'm close-- they have taken a leave of absence, but are scheduled to return next month. I have a print out of the current work schedule which lists all employees and their schedule. My target is still listed, but her column is empty, she has no shifts. I would love to use this paper in some way. I want to knock her off the schedule permanently without affecting any of the other coworkers. Is there something I can do with this paper? I have breakup and destruction oils, hotfoot sachet powder, and many other curios, I'm just not sure what to do!

I was thinking of dabbing oil along her column on the sheet, then sticking a rusty nail through her name, or burning the paper and disposing of the ashes at the crossroads.

Hello, rookieguy13,

Since there's not enough information here, I would write: "Judge ____ to favor ___"

OR....

"Win Court Case"

Wishing you the best

Hi misskitty49,

This is a nice opportunity to use this paper as a petition. If it were me, I would burn a candle dressed in I Can, You Can't oil on top of this and pray that this person's schedule remains empty. That's what I would do.

Good luck.

Forgive me if this has been asked before. I've read this entire thread and am still unsure.

Regarding a moving candle spell with 3 candles...how do I write each petition? For my candle and my target's candle I was going to do two name papers, his name crossed with my own then the petition "F* me" written in red ink circling the names (I'm going strictly lust with this spell in attempt to get him in bed lol). Thus giving my candle and his candle the EXACT same petition (I will include representative photos, hairs and then some lusty herbs and make these and the petition into a packet under each candle).

BUT for the black Eve candle representing the other woman, do I write her name crossed with HIS name with the petition "break up" circled around it in black ink? This petition is the one causing me the most confusion.

If anyone could tell me if this sounds right (or wrong) I would greatly appreciate it. :)

Hi Nethaera,

Your petition for you and your target sounds right, but I wouldn't put his name on her petition. Just write her name and something like "Go away!" crossing it. State your intent for her, which is to get her far from him. That should be sufficient.

Good luck.

Thank you so much, Athena! Just for further clarification, do you mean write her name 9 times then cross it with Go Away (or I'm thinking "Stay away from my man") 9 times just like a normal name paper? Should I circle the names with the Stay away command as well?

Hi all!

First of all, I want to thank the LM forum admin for their exhaustive work on this thread (and the rest of them)! I spent close to two hours on here doing my research. Long story short, I'm trying to move in with my boyfriend. We have a solid relationship, he's super kind and affectionate and responsible. I feel confident moving towards more committed business with him-so no issues there. Anyway, recent financial issues on both ends of this relationship have left us in a bind with our living situations. But, being a Taurus, he's pretty "slow-and-steady" when it comes to long-term relationship decisions- plus he'd prefer to think it was his idea. Which is great, but neither of us really have that luxury at the moment.

So, based on everyone's suggestions, I prepared a skull candle with compelling powder (it was all I had), crown of success oil and influence oil- and a number of herbs and a bit of his hair.

The only thing I'm sticking on is how to prepare the petition paper. Would you write it the traditional name-over-name way? Or like a letter to him stating what I want him to do? I'm a little at a loss since it's compelling work and not flat-out domination.

Also, if it is pertinent, I already have a honey jar working on him that's done wonders for our relationship (It took months to see a difference but trust the admins when they say honey jars take patience! The results are well worth it!).

Thanks in advance, guys!

hello everybody.I also would like to get the help in writing the correct petition since its ongoing. I am ordering run of seven candles at a time. So I would like to make the petition as close to the point as possible since its 200 characters limit. I called the church but they said they can't really help me to write a petition but they gave me some ideas and sent me to forum so here I am. I would appreciate any help.
Here is an example that comes to mind.
"In the name of higher powers of the universe and the Lord, may all the money we get stay with us ...names+dob... so we can build more savings to move to a new luxurious home this summer 2015. Thank you. Amen.
Or the massage is not so clare?

SLava,

"With the help and grace of God may I (name +dob) and (other person name and dob), may we be prosperous and successful in saving the money we acquire through our hard work, selling of property, savings and investment, so that we can purchase the dream home for us as a family totaling ( price) amen.

Be specific, give details and be measurable.

Best of luck

What is most effective way to write a petition on a seal? In the case of money should one just write the amount of money, lets say "$100,000" or should it be an affirmation worded like it is already true such as " I have received $100,000 in diviine order" Please advise most powerful effective petition format.

Hello, seekerone,

I would write the dollar amount 9 times and then cross it over with your name 9 times.

Also, you can encircle your desire by writing something like $10,000 come to me

Please read the pages on this thread for more ideas.

And here is a page of money spells: http://www.luckymojo.com/moneyspells.html

Wishing you success with this.

Hello Miss Aida:

Thank you for your reply. This is most helpful. Also, when writing requests such as this on the back of either Seals of 'Solomon or Seals of Moses does the Moom cycle matter, i.e. attacting spells during the waxing moon and banishng spells during the waning moon? I read somewhere the moon cycle does not really matter usng these seals. in your opinion is this true?

Hello seekerone,

Some people work by moon phase and some people do not. This is really just up to the practitioner. I personally like to work by the moon but if a situation is pressing and I do not have time to wait then I just do the work. They you describe , attraction during waxing and banishing durning waning, is how you would work with the moon phases in timing your spells.

Peace~

Regarding using seals like Seals of Solomon or Seals of Moses I understand you write the names and petition on the back. Then you do your prayer of consecration to connect the seal with the spiritual energies it represents. Some say one then should burn a 7 day candle on the seal to increase the power. How much does burning a candle on the consecrated seal increase its power over and above the simple consecration prayer?

seekerone,

The use of Solomonic and Mosaic seals in hoodoo is, generally speaking, an inventive variation from their use in traditional Jewish kabbalism ... but where the practitioner takes it from there is a matter of culturally transmitted methodology and personal invention.

Burning a candle on a seal (and not just a glass-encased "7 day" candle -- you have that wrong! -- it could be ANY candle, and, historically, a free-standing candle is much more common than a glass candle) is a way to work with seals, but your question "How much does burning a candle on the consecrated seal increase its power over and above the simple consecration prayer?" is meaningless.

This is MAGIC, and magic is an art. Art cannot be rated in terms of horsepower, watts, miles per hour, voltage, gigabytes of RAM, pounds per square inch, or cycles per second.

So let's step back from the fantasy of the "7-day" (really, now a 5-day) candle and the idea of "more power" and talk about what we really do and why:

In hoodoo, writing a petition or prayer on ANYTHING is a way of harnessing one's intentional energy to whatever that item represents. The item upon which one writes or inscribes may be a candle, a piece of jewelry, a photo, a dollar bill, a coin, a window sill, a threshold, a seal, a scrap of handwriting, or a white plate. Or ANYTHING.

In hoodoo, burning a candle on ANYTHING is called setting a light, and the term refers to setting hens on eggs. The warmth of the candle allows the intention of one's petition or prayer to "hatch" -- or it brings energetic "life" to a talisman or amulet. The light of the candle radiates itself outward, spreading the practitioner's prayer or petition out into the world.

So what i see here is a traditional way of working, not a way to raise an item's mythical "power level," like in a video game, but to bring a wish or intention which is linked to an item that has its own symbolism, intention, or promise (in this case a Solomonic or Mosaic seal) to the warmth and light and life of the candle and to radiate it into the world.

Hello, Slava ,

Just tell MISC what you want and ask them to modify the petition for you.

However, I think that: "Money Stay With me" s an excellent petition!

Take care

Two quick questions about petition papers and name papers...

1.) Does your petition paper actually have to be UNDERNEATH the candle? I do a petition paper, with two photos (my ex and his GF), as well as personal concerns (their hair) and sometimes a sprinkle of herbs and oil, of which I fold all of this away from me (depending on my work), give it a 1/4 turn and fold again...so balancing a candle on it folded like that is a little challenging. It makes my vigil wax burn lopsided, and with figural candles I'm afraid they might fall over since sometimes the base is not 100% flat with these molded candles. Not to mention that as my vigil burns to the bottom, I'm afraid the bottom of the glass might get too hot and cause a fire hazard with the petition/name paper underneath. Your thoughts?

2.) If I'm lighting helper candles for a vigil or skull candle, etc. do I need a petition & name paper for those too? If so, one for each helper or one petition paper for the helpers as a whole?

Thanks so much!!!!

A white saucer upside down on top of your petition packet solves this problem nicely, karma_13. If you use a strong restaurant-ware, it will also be okay with the heat. If you don't have other safety practices in place, consider a tin of sand beneath the whole working.

I don't put petition papers on my helper candles, but there's no reason not to! Every little bit helps.

My experience with burning glass candles directly on seals or small pieces of paper is that this has never caused a fire. It is more important that the entire working be on a safe surface in a safe area away from curtains and other flamable materials. If i am burning a candle that is not glass encased I usually don't put this directly on the paper, especially if i intend to keep the paper as a talisman. Instead, I use a clear/transparent glass saucer to separate the paper and the candle. Also, be aware of ventilation. If your candles are not made of beeswax they are probably petroleum based. The burnig of petroleum based candles produces soot (black carbon residue). You want to limit how much of this you breathe in, particularly if you are using long burning candles like 7 day candles. As far as glassware, I believe it is called Pirex. This is cooking glassware (bowls, saucer, baking dishes) made strong enough to bake in. Hope that helps.

hello dear Miss Aida ; when i came to the box to write it, it actually was only space for names and short petition so i just went straight and simple "All the Money Stay with me ... and my ..... In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen . Thank You."
would you say its a good petition for this candles?
overall, do they use "In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen " in petitions?
hope it also helps others who seek help with petitions ;
Blessed Be!

Hi Slava,

Yes, you could certainly add that to your petition. Whatever is personal and meaningful to you is appropriate for your work.

Good luck.

Thank you deaconmillett and seekerone for your advice! Yes, I have heard of Pirex, I usually it all the time in my kitchen...what a great idea! I also have my candles sitting on baking sheets or in individual metal buckets. They are not filled with sand but I do have sand nearby just in case. In fact, I actually had to toss some sand on a figural candle yesterday that got a bit out of control.

Thanks again for the advice...I will try to saucer trick and/or Pirex definitely!

What's an effective petition for a chupparosa vigil candle? Been talking to this guy for months now but we've yet to commit to one another. Or rather he's yet to commit to me. Any help and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Hello, Mnb0687 ,

Here's an example of what I would do (and everybody has their own ideas):

"_________ (<---his name) will commit to a steady relationship with Mnb0687 "

Just one idea...

Wishing you the very best

I have been lighting a candle every Wednesday to restore communication between me and my target. I have a name paper that has the petition "text" me along with photos of me and my target and each of our hairs. All of this is folded into a little petition packet.

My question is since I do this every Wednesday, can I just reuse the packet and even store it inside my cellphone case when I'm not using it? I thought since my petition was for him to text me that keeping it inside my cellphone case would be the perfect place to store it. Does this sound like a good idea?

I posted this under break up vigil but realized that it's probably more appropriate in this topic.

Ive gotten some great results with the work I've been doing but I've noticed a back track. I did a spell from the paper in my shoe book from lucky mojo what a 7 day break up but the directions were a little confusing. On the petition I wrote my ex's name and the girls on opposite sides than wrote "break up" all over the place and on top of their names. Then I cut their names apart in a zip zag and five point anointed each piece with hot foot and break up oil..

Heres the part I think I messed up, the book said to tape the papers to each side of the glass and position the one you want to leave so that the fold is at the top and the edges pointed downward and the one you want to stay positioned so the fold is at the top and the edges pointed upward.

This is very confusing to me, so what I did was tape my ex's name so that opens is pointed up (the side the faces you when you fold towards yourself) and the side that you cannot open facing down the candle. For the girl I taped her paper on the opposite side of the candle with her name with the side that you can open facing down the Candle. Both papers at the top sides of the candle.

My ex is colder towards me. Did i do something wrong?

Reason: Double posting

Hello .. If you using a seal to reverse negative energy who name should be on the other side of the image? And should you put the image face up when working against or downward with the candle on top of the writing? Thanks

What's a good petition for a boss fix vigil candle? Can it still be effective without knowing the other person's date of birth? I at least have their name.

What would be a good petition for Commanding candles if you already petitioned your target to return to you on another set of vigil candles. Would "Mr A will contact Ms B positively as soon as possible" work? Thanks!
