I need some guidance on how to begin negative work with Devil's Glass Candle and Black Arts Oil. I purchased Cat's The Art of Hoodoo Candle Magic and received candle, oil and protection crystals in the mail today. I have not read the book yet and will soon. Grateful for any feedback.

I have read the Devil page on lucky mojo and based on the information i read it seems like this candle is meant to cause someone all sorts of problems (with the aid of the devil?) like jinxing candles.

that being said, i have two questions.

1. could this candle be a good addition to a run of break up candles if the same petition is used? (Break up X and Y immediately)

2. i also just read ms cat's comment on the intranquil spirit thread ("I would rather work with the devil instead of the intranquil spirit....") because the devil you can negotiate with and the intranquil spirit is reckless etc.. so this also makes me wonder, if petitioned to do so, could this candle aid in tormenting a lost lover until they return? ("Make X return to Y" or Give "X" no peace until he returns to Y")

i am aware its a negative spell and i will need to cleanse and protect IF i choose this route. if it matters, i have attempted to work with the intranquil spirit before on two separate occasions (different targets) with a root worker, and lit some candles myself as well, but i didn't seem to have any success. neither target ever returned on their own, and i had runs lit for months each time. i had readings done & was told the target was pretty miserable, but honestly it seemed like he was doing just fine to me. never returned on his own either. so now im wondering if this candle could work as an alternative to the intranquil spirit Or if i need to purchase the RED DEVIL candle instead and do the work at home.

As one who has used Devils Oil before with success, I hope I can help. The effect is like letting loose a bunch of mischievous imps who cause trouble for your target. For instance, after I used it at work, a nasty co-worker had a series of technological issues, and a general run of bad luck. Things failed, broke, and generally were in a pain the butt. It was hilarious to watch, and I thanked the little devils for their help.

So, I wouldn't use this for a break up, so much as to cause trouble for one or both of the targets. That can definitely stack up on top of break-up work and make them EXTRA miserable and frustrated, which may be of great help to you, but it won't be focused on specifically ending their relationship, if that makes sense. It's more like pointing mayhem at someone and setting it loose.

As for working with the Devil, versus the Intranquil Spirit, if you really want to work with the Black Man himself, I'd recommend looking into Dark Arts Oil, which is used in summoning and pact making with dark entities: https://www.luckymojo.com/oil-black-arts.html

Just remember that working with spirits is like working with people, in that you want to build a relationship and see if they like you and are willing to help before just asking for favors. Proceed with respect and caution, and best of luck to you!

Since you mentioned it is best to make a relationship with spirits before asking for favors, does that also apply to this devil vigil candle, since one is “calling out to the devil and his imps” for help ?

If so, how would one build a relationship in this case, light a devils vigil in their honor first?

It's always a good idea to approach spirits respectfully and in the spirit of friendship before asking for favors. In the instance of Devil's Oil, I prayed first and checked in with the spirits before using it, to see if they were willing to help, and they seemed very excited by the prospect of doing mayhem in general, so were rearin' to go, as it were.

I think you'd be okay just getting quiet, meditating, or however you connect with spirit, and seeing if the Devils in the Devils vigil candle will be willing to cause mischief for you. If you get a "yes," feeling, then you are all set. I really do think they enjoy getting set loose, so it's not exactly twisting their arms to ask them to help.

If you were trying to get the Devil's help with a more specific ask, though, you'd probably be trying to strike a bargain, etc, or do a crossroads ceremony. You can read more about The Devil in the Hoodoo tradition here:

Our prepared 8" glass-encased vigil lights come with a dressing of oils and herbs and will burn for 5 - 7 days, depending on ambient temperature and other factors.

If you wish to set a traditional Novena of nine days, you will either have to start and stop the candle (which can result in a smoky glass), or purchase two candles to run continually over the 9-day period.

Always practice fire safety when setting vigil lights. If you must keep them lit when you are away or asleep, be sure that no pets or children can get into the room with them, that they are not near curtains or flammable cloth or paper, and that you have a smoke alarm in your house. Placing lit vigils in the bathtub is quite common, but you must not have a shower curtain if you use this method. Setting them into a fireplace is ideal, as there is a ready-made chimney for them.
