Thank you St. Expidite and Lucky Mojo for your candle service. We are now the proud owner of motorhome that fit all the bill of my petition and it came within 3 weeks of my request - such fast results! We can now move safely across country with our 4 dogs and our cat comfortably and live for a long while on the other side in the RV. You both really came through. Thank you!

Follow Me Boy and Road Opener candles have worked like a charm for me. I also had LM dress one of the unlabeled candles with Clarity, which was wonderful. Oh, and I've had them burn various healing candles for two different family members and the results were near miraculous.

Dear Turnsteel,

Your comment just made my night! I have recently been working on driving someone away, and for several reasons I have the work set up in my toilet room. :D Just yesterday I was wondering whether this matters, but my gut feeling was that it was appropriate to the person I am working on haha.

I have to add too that I make a point of closing the lid of the toilet at all times that it's not in use, as some vague feng-shui related memory is nagging at me that things may be flushed away.

So thank you very much for the information that was very timely for me.

How do I prepare a black candle to repel evil or any harm from my family and me?

I would dress it with Cast off Evil and name it for repelling rather than doing evil. You could also use a white candle in this case as well. If you are concerned about evil from a specific source, you might want to use a black & white reversible candle, as it "returns to sender". Here is the candle color page.

I plan on burning a red pull-out seven-day vigil candle. I am going to drench the candle in honey, sugar, cinnamon and follow me boy oil on the candle, along with my target's name carved on the candle crossed by my name. I will put a petition underneath the candle. What can I expect out of the aforementioned?

Let it set a day before burning because the moisture from the honey may make it hard to light. Also I don't know about burning sugar, might not work. Sorry, I don't know if you are a woman or a gay man. Put some of your menstrual blood/vaginal fluid on the candle if you are a woman; semen if you are a man. It would help to burn some incense too and put some bath crystals around the candle.

Different situations call for different actions, if this is an ongoing petition then you can re-use it by placing it on the next light that you are burning. If its a petition that you are only using one time you can bury it, burn it, or incorporate it into another piece of work. See: http://www.luckymojo.com/layingtricks.html
for more info.

good luck,

1. Does dressing of candles with oils & satchet powders alter the burn time [ increase/decrease]

2. Also is the some divination rule for altar candles like vigils:

Eg: Top half indicates future and bottom indicates current or vice versa.

I have read LM divination page. It does not cover this nor could I find anything on the internet.

I have never noticed any difference in the burning time of an undressed and a dressed candle.
At least not when it comes to Lucky Mojo products.

When I was working I accidentally snapped her head off of the candle. Is that going to casue a huge problem? I know how symbolic this whole process is and it is really worrying me. Should I try to melt it back on or just leave it?

In my opinion, this is a pretty ominous sign.. I'd take a guess that your target is putting up resistance to your intentions.

Anyways, I would properly dispose of the broken candle, (river, crossroads etc.) cleanse myself, then start again. A rule of thumb to go by is that if a spell fails or has very bad signs and you have to actually repeat it 3 times, it's probably not going to work out.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Dispose of that candle properly and just start with a new candle.
I wouldn't really count this as a "sign", you were probably just too rough with it...now you know you need to be more gentle. :)

WEll the problem is is that its a couple breaker candle thing. I did accidently break the head off it didnt fall off on its own so yeah I was to rough. I don't have another candle and I'm almost done with work. Idk if I should purchase another candle and wait for it to be shipped and start all over with it (but with shipping it would be around $14) or just keep using the candle I have.

Go ahead and keep using it. My main concern is that any doubts or fears you had when it broke got into the energy of the work and muddied it up. But if you're almost done, then you might as well finish it. It just might not be as effective due to the negative/doubtful thoughts that got involved with things.

This thread's kind of old but figured I'd add my two cents...

I usually don't worry about any accidents that happen to spell supplies if it happens before I've actually begun the spell -- so if I were in your place, and the damage happened before lighting the candle I'd not worry too much about it. I'm a cheapskate so I actually probably would just melt the head back into place with some wax.

If it happened after you had already begun the spell, given that you say it was a couple-breaker, then I'd actually think breaking a candle would be a good omen (things breaking is usually a good omen in breakup work.) But if it were for any other kind of spell I would be a little concerned, but I'd continue with the spell with the damaged and wait to see if there were any further omens revealed in the burning.

What a year... it started off awful and it's ending on a sad note... lots of layoffs where I work (I've survived), one of my best friends has cancer and is doing better physicially but is depressed and moody and our friendship is suffering- just lots of stuff going wrong for everyone it seems and I'm worried about what next year holds - where will we be, will we all still be here, etc.

So, I want to do a vigiil candle -not for love or money or a new job or anything specific - but I need something for ME to get my head back on straight. I'm exhausted, have hit the wall and can't see a light at the end of the tunnel right now, very very down

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks all.

Here are some ideas for vigil lights to burn for yourself: Tranquility, Healing, Blessing, Clarity, Peaceful Home

You might want to consider doing some cleansing baths and doing a good cleansing of your home to help move the residual negative energy from all those events away from you and your space. That would likely be very helpful in getting your head back on straight. The other candles can then help reinforce that.

Hey suzyparker.
I can attest to the advice above. A good cleansing, literal and spiritual helps. It can be really hard, but just start with yourself. A good friend recently told me "place the air mask on yourself before assisting other passengers" in order to see myself clearly through difficult times.

I have been experiencing a similar year. I'd like to say that my experience using Master Key oil as a dressing for candles lit during my daily meditation and and to anoint myself with- particularly when headed into stressful meetings or days in general- has really helped me. My situation hasn't changed drastically, but I feel that I have a much better handle on things, and I have been able to stop feeling as low down despite continuing difficulties. I do feel it is assisting me with mastery over both my situation and my emotions. Hope that helps.

Chin up. :)
Thank you Saint Martha for hearing my petition and for your ongoing good works for myself and others.

At my last residence, soot collected on the ceiling from burning candles over a period of a few years. Summer was the only time I'd open the windows since it was so darn cold outside!

I'm in another place now, and my altar is in my tiny bedroom. Is it ok to use candle lids on my LM glass candles? These are metal lids with decorative holes that help cut down on soot and protect the flames from ventilation drafts. I'm unable to burn my candles in an outdoor area, yet I don't want to do anything to the candles that may adversely affect my spell work.

Not too sure about using lids on candles used for magical purposes. I think it may restrict the natural burn of the candle. Soot can pose a health problem over time in enclosed places, so you may want to consider other methods of spellwork or possibly have LM light candles for you on their altars. I've done this in the past few months (I was at the LM store when Ian prepared my candles and set them on the altars. I saw 1sthand the love and attention the workers put into the candles !!!!). Plus you get candle reports mailed to you on how the candle burned and an interpretation!

I also have used LM to burn the candles, and another added bonus is they do a really great job. They give it tons of energy and get great results. Sometimes I have them burn them when my house is for sale and I cant have the candles burning where prospective buyers might get freaked out. LM burning them for you is a great option to burning them yourselves if you are worried about the soot and pollution in your own home.

I have a BIG problem... so to make a long story short.... I have an elderly relative living with me. I work during the day. There are certain days that the daughter comes by to visit the relative living with me. She insists on blowing out my vigil lights "because they are evil, and a hazard". She and my relative go out to lunch. I know it is her, because my relative told me the first time it happened, that "she was looking all over the altar, and making comments" and that "she blew out the candles before they left the house because they are a hazard and evil"

This woman is meddling. My altar is not in a prominent place in my home. I am not looking for ways or spells or recommendations to stop her, because she can't be stopped. She is so stubborn and strong willed, it isnt even funny. SHE is the evil one. She was charging her own elderly mother rent to stay in her home, before I took her in. Sorry to rant, just making an illustration... that is just the tip of the iceberg.

What I want to know is...

1. I have heard that one should never blow out the candles.... just to pinch out, or use a snuffer. Why exactly is it bad to blow them out? What happens when you do? These are the glass 7 days... so as we all know, they are lit, and burn down.... so I have quite a time re-lighting them.

2. How should I, for lack of a better word, recharge them when I have to relight them? -- and does this do anything to my intention?

3. Any suggestions? I am so sick of this. Its going to continue, and there is no use speaking to her, because her mind is so warped.

Thank you

Blowing out a candle signifies that you are done with doing the spell. If blown out, you will have to start over from the beginning.

Well first, she's coming into *your* house and blowing out your candles, I would let her know that. As long as she is on your property, in your house she doesn't really have a leg to stand on when it comes to messing with your property. But that's besides the point ;-)

The concept behind blowing out the candle flame is a matter of tradition. Some traditions claim that its an insult to the spirit that resides in the flame or the candle. Other say that when you blow out a candle you are stating that you are done with the spell.

Either move the location of where you leave the vigil candles, maybe put them in the oven or bath tub, or in a small bowl of water in your room. Or set up a spell to keep her away from it.

I'm in another place now, and my altar is in my tiny bedroom.
I had a soot problem too and my bedroom is also tiny, and delivery of the LM candle to my location is very expensive.
at first, I placed the candle on a small book shelf and cover all the 5 sides (base, top, back, left and right) with aluminium foil... and of course attend to the candle... now I get my candles burnt at the LM church...

Hope you find a solution too..

Put the candle in your bedroom in a dish of water and close the door. Do not let her in your room. Vigil candles are meant to be burned continously. If you can't do that, then dress freestanding 4" or 6" candles instead. They burn in a few hours and the results can be as effective.

My motto is "Adapt and overcome." Keep your eye on your goals and don't let anyone or anything get in your way. Thwarting your "evil" practices gives this woman a feeling of superiority that is backed up by her religious beliefs. (I believe that Devi mentioned that she had a similar experience with a relative, only worse.)

She probably would feel even more negatively about your sexual orientation, so it would be a good idea to do something to keep her out of your house altogether. Hotfoot, Fiery Wall of Protection, or even something stronger might be in order.

Oh boy did I ever! But I was lucky in that I lived a whole country away from her (I moved and instructed my mother to NOT give away even the name of the country that I went to to anyone in the extended family) - she just managed to do her damage through prayer warrior groups praying against me after finding info on my through the internet 10 years after I had divorced myself from the extended family. That was bad enough!

The VERY short amount of time when she did live in the same house as me when I was a teen, she did the most crippling psychic attack on me that I've ever experienced. I was so energetically devastated that I couldn't stop bawling for 8 hours, and it took 2 days for the physical shaking to stop. I had to sneak back in that house and move into a friends house to get away from her - I was 16.

Hot foot and mirror box the hell out of that woman and get her out of your life!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that you should tell the elderly person that she is not welcomed there because she does not mind the rules of the house. Also she is not being a "good Christian" by touching your things without permission. I say move it into an area where you can lock the door so she can't get in. It's your house lay down the law! She can say all she wants, she is sinning just as much as you because, a good christian doesn't judge. It says in the bible that you can't judge. That lady is what I like to call a Biggit! Your house, Your candles, Your rules!

Mohammed,
I would continue buring the lights in good faith and try to put any possible negative effects of her extinguishing them improperly out of your mind. I'm sure many here have blown out an unfinished candle by mistake during spellwork and gone on successfully with the working. I cannot believe the spirits would hold her actions against you, a true and faithful believer.

Your kindness is apparent: from reading your previous postings and the fact you have taken in this relative in her time of need. Your adversary's lack of kindness/understanding is just as obvious -- I think you are right, there is probably no sense wasting your energy attemtping to change her behavior. I do not mean you shouldn't do work to protect yourself from her, but that there's clearly no honey jar sweet enough for the ol' vinegar pot!

As distasteful as it may be, I think those who are suggesting stealth are probably right on track. If you continue to work with the vigil lights, by all means, be careful; if her mind is as warped as you believe it is, she may arrange a candle fire just to vindicate her sick mind. (Look! See the outcome of those evil and hazardous candles!) NOT what you need! From personal experience, I can say I really like the 4" candles; they burn for 1.5 - 2 hours. Which for me means I can do focused candle work every morning/evening if I like and not have to worry about my bad kitty or curious children burning down the place by accident. If you feel very strongly about having a vigil light burning for a certain situation, you may want to look into having Ms. Cat set a light for you on her altar; I've heard very good things from others who have used this service.

Take care, friend, and let us know how you fare.

Do a barberry cross to keep her away from your property.

Generally Glass seven day candles don't need a holder, they come in one. You can set them on metal baking sheets if your worried they might crack and leak. If you're working with pull out refills, well, usually you get those when you have an empty seven day glass around from another candle and you want to continue the work.

Also, if your looking for recommendations on where to buy things, well the only place anyone on here will tell you is the LuckyMojo site, since they own and operate this forum and it is specifically for recommending what LuckyMojo product is best for a given situation.

Just put them in a heat-proof dish with water in it. This will keep the surface they are on from overheating.

i'm scared to leave them burning when i leave or fall asleep without them being in a very secure container. i found a tin candleholder specifically for 7 day candles online but i don't know if it is allowed to give links on this forum or not so i won't until i find out more about it. I would get up a thousand times a night to see what the candle is doing if only had a heat-proof dish to secure the candle. i wanted something i could sit the candle -down into- so there is no way the flame could jump out and burn my house down. lol

thanks

What works for many in that situation is to put them in the sink, think about it, its a nice deep depression lined with nice fire proof metal. I know one guy that will put them in the oven, obviously with the heat/gas/what-have-you OFF<---this is the important part, lol, I would hate to see someone get hurt, or melt their candles, lol.

Am I right in assuming you mean holders for the glass-encased candles (and not empty glasses for refills) so there's something fire-proof underneath in case they crack? If so, some stores sell pretty metal holders for pillar candles. They're like a candelabra, but without the spikes.

I found one for my altar at Target for $20. It's shaped like a branch with leaves, made out of bronze-colored metal, and holds 3 candles. The metal cups have sides that are 1/2" deep. The branches are also nice for tucking in some of my crystals and saint cards. I love it.

Not totally fire safe, mind you. But it's less typsy than setting the glass vigils on my velvet altar cloth. I leave mine burning unattended most of time.

I've seen similar holders at Pier One, too.

After reading your second comment, I don't think what I have would make you feel safe enough. You don't have a fireplace or a big barbeque outside do you?

Another idea would be to buy a sturdy outdoor hurricane-style candle holder. The kind that has a metal frame and a hinged glass door. You could fill the bottom with salt as an extra measure. I think something like that would be plenty safe and look pretty, too.

i keep readin that baptizm is big in hoodoo that people baptize dolls and candles and stuff. is the process of unbaptizing as big also? so if you are done with a doll do you unbaptize. how about a candle? if you baptize a candle then burn it down do you need to unbaptzie whats left beofre you throw the wax away? is this considered part of tradition the act of unbaptizing

Well, "unbaptize" isn't a word, but you do hear that when one is done with a doll before disposing of it you call there person's spirit out of it so they are not harmed when you get rid of the doll, if its not for cursing, lol.

You don't "unbaptize" a candle generally, it burns as part of the spell then you dispose of it in the proper way.

As to how to call someone out of a dollie, well I do it in almost the same way I called them in, I pray i the name of God that this doll is again just cloth and herbs (or wax and herbs, or whatever) then i smoke them in Van Van incense and dispose of it.

I use a LM candle snuffer, which is flexible so should be able eto be used even in vigil candles.

However sometimes to get a candle to go out all the way it has to touch the wax.

This has never been a problem before but I am working a black candle and I do NOT want this candle's effects on my love or protection candles.

Does the snuffer carry the energy? should I just blow the other candles out (I've never managed the putting out with fingers thing).

Is there a way to clean the snuffer between candles? I have 7-11 oil and of course, soap and water.

Use Florida Water, holy water, or Van Van, or Chinese Wash, or some water with a very small amount of ammonia in it - it will cleanse it.
But if you're going to be doing alot of crossing work, then it probably would be best to eventually get a separate snuffer.

If you don't want to touch the snuffer, then just smother the candle by placing a dish or something on top of it blocking the chimney - the flame with die out once all the oxygen has been used, which takes a couple of seconds.

Thanks, i didn't even think of a dish! i ordered some new snuffers from LM... in the meantime I will use the one I have ONLY on the black candle (which is not a vigil candle-- actually it's quite hard to use a snuffer with it). And dishes over the top of the vigils. Candle on top of the honey jar burns itself down.

Thanks for the great advice!

I use Florida water as a cleanser between spells no matter what I the purpose since the soot sticks to the snuffer. I use Chinese wash monthly.

I ordered two fixed vigil candles, however, i'm not planning to use them until the NEXT waning moon phase, so that's like in one month or so? anyway, i was wondering if the oils and herbs would go bad since they're already put inside the vigil candle?
