02-09-05 Lucky Mojo Hoodoo Rootwork Hour 01/12/05:

Unread post by catherineyronwode » Tue Jan 11, 2005 11:16 pm

Well, Dr. Kioni, Eoghan, Mambo Angel, Dara, siva, and i got together
last week and worked out our next 26 radio show topics and broadcast
dates, along with a tentative list of who would be leading the
discussion for the first half hour of each broadcast. I want to thank
these helpful, generous, and friendly folks for agreeing to contribute
to the show on an ongoing basis. Take a bow, folks!

The format of the show will remain the same as always: each week one or
more of us will present a new topic that relates to hoodoo, after which
Dr. Kioni will open the phones to callers during the second half of the
show. We hope that all of you will join us and share you experiences,
ask questions, offer suggestions, and just generally shoot the breeze.

I have just uploaded a couple of new pages to the luckymojo.com site,
telling about the radio show and giving a list of show topics,
broadcast dates, and participants for the upcoming year. This is
essentially the same as Lesson 0, which many of you will have received
via email, and others can expect to see in your postal (paper) lessons
soon. The web pages also contain clickable links from that will take
you directly to the web sites of our panel participants and to Dr.
Kioni's archive of last year's radio shows. The new URLs are

Hoodoo Rootwork Hour Radio Show General Description:
http://www.luckymojo.com/radioshow.html

Hoodoo Rootwork Hour Radio Show List:
http://www.luckymojo.com/showlist.html

Please feel free to share these URLS with friends in other lists, since
the radio show is open to the public, and anyone can participate, not
just hrcourse students.

Also, if you lose this information (or Lesson 0), just remember that
you can always find it again in the LINKS section of this elist's
archives.

Cordially,

And the first one is...

1) Wed. Feb. 9: Congo History and Spirituality in Africa and the
Diaspora, with Eoghan Ballard

Now there's a sparkly omen! My 50th birthday is that day! What a
bodacious present that is!

Thanks Cathy. One more question on this subject. How does one knows
when an enemy light a candle to harm him/her? Does one get a kind of
aura?. Please explain. I had an enemy who was lighting candles to
harm me and I was so naive that when things seemed to be going wrong
with me, I thought it was just life's ups and downs, and this went on
for years. When she realized that I didn't retaliate she started to
do worst until she tried to do the unthinkable. I'll appreciate your
reply, as always.

(Because several peole have asked about this -- questions like "how
can you tell a spiritual attack from a period of bad luck or just
random coincidence?" i am going to make that the theme for this
Wednesday's Hoodoo Rootwork Hour. Keep that question in mind,
especially "how can i tell when candles are being burned on me?" --
then call in or listen, and we will cover the topic. --cat)

Hi Cat: I noticed that some of the broadcast of Hoodoo Rootwork hour
which broadcast live on Wednesday nights at 10 p.m. are not in the
archive on Dr. Kioni's website. Why is this? Is it because he wants
us to buy his CD's? I have been going to classes on Wednesday nights
and I'm unable to listen in. Please tell us the reason. Thanks.

(There are actually several reasons! A couple of shows were never
recorded, due to technological glitches, A couple were accidentally
deleted from his hard drive before back-ups were made and it seems
that no one else recorded them. Others are not on his online archive
because he only has limited storage space at his web server. Still
others were recorded and are on his hard drive and will be rotated in
and out of the archives as he has room for them. You can order custom
CDs of any of the radio shows he has, as long as you order 4 CDs per
set. Contact him directly. His email is drkioni@d... Put the
words "Hoodoo Radio Show" in the subject line of your email to him so
he knows what you are enquiring about. Incidentally, all the money
from the sale of radio show CDs goes to Dr. Kioni, as the radio show
is his project and i am just along for the ride.--cat)

Hi Dr. Kioni!

Do you happen to know if there are low-bandwidth streaming options
for the broadcast, or is it only optimized for high-speed
connections? I only have a dial-up connection right now, and my
computer is having trouble listening to the archives [it loads &
stops, and sometimes disconnects, like it's trying to stream a
broadband connection]. I'm afraid I might have the same trouble
during a live broadcast.

Thank you for your advice!

First radio show of 2005 -- Feb 9th, 2005 (#3338)

Unread post by catherineyronwode » Thu Feb 10, 2005 12:05 am

We had a wonderful debut Hoodoo Rootwork Hour radio show for the 2005
season. Thanks to Dr. Kioni for handling alkl those technical details
we need to be on the air and on the webcast.

Thanks also to our speaker, Dr. Eoghan Ballard, who presented an
inspiring talk on the history of the Kingdom of the Congo from the late
1400s through the late 1500s, when the King of the Congo accepted
conversion to Christianity and allied himself with the Portuguese.
Eoghan explained in detail how the people of the Congo mingled
Christianity with their indigenous religio-magical beliefs and
practices, all those many hundreds of years ago, and how this
intermingling influenced what we now know today as African American
(and Afro-Caribban) Christo-Conjure.

If you missed the radio show live webcast, you can keep on the lookout
here for an announcement from Dr. Kioni that the Feb 9, 1005 rootwork
hour has been added to the radio show archives at drkioni.com -- and
then go there and listen to it.

There truly is no other radio show like this, so check it out.

Thank you Suzaane and everyone that tunes in to the Luckymojo Hoodoo
Rootwork Hour. Without you guys, there wouldn't be a Luckymojo Hoodoo
Rootwork Hour.

I am convinced the broadcasts we have scheduled for the new season will
be the best yet.

Happy Hoodooing!
