Great radio show last night!-- on family traditions (#3676)

I thought the different backgrounds on family traditions and personal
gifts was terrific. Some of these "gifts" I had not especially
thought of as magical, such as the ability to calm animals. I have a
couple of nice St. Dwynwen chants to calm sick pets, if anyone is
interested -- I created them out of my family Catholic folk-magic
tradition but they are cat tested and approved.

(Please post them, if possible. I am sure that many among us would like to know who St. Dwynen is and why he helps calm sick pets -- as well as to learn the form of the work itself. --cat)

I really liked Eoghan's discussion of Irish death precognitions. When
my Irish great-aunt got sick and started seeing and talking to a lot
of dead family members, my Jewish step-father assumed that it was just
a manifestation of psychosis. I told him that instead we ought to
keep an extra careful eye on her, because it sounded as though she was
getting ready to die. (She recovered, BTW.) She was having trouble
with geriatric psychosis, but that wasn't part of it -- just shows that
it helps to know your cultures.

Also, three cheers for St. Anthony, who has been incredibly helpful to
me in his many manifestations and who has a very central place in my
altar setup.
