Date: Wednesday, November 2, 2005
Subject: AN EVENING WITH CHRISTINE WICKER
Start Time: 10:00 p.m. Eastern Std Time
$$$$$$$$

Good morning Happy Hoodooers!

Tonight's show is special "An Evening with
Christine Wicker" promises to be
funny, entertaining, provocative and educational.
Since meeting Christine
2 and a half years ago, I now call her friend and
indeed called her friend the
moment we met. She is an interesting person, down
to earth, charming and full of
good stories about spirituality and hoodoo.

I personally encourage audience participation
tonight. Call in, ask questions,
share a story or a hoodoo trick. Hearing from you
guys is what makes the Luckymojo
Hoodoo Rootwork Hour worthwhile. Let's make
Christine feel our warmth and generosity.
"Not In Kansas Anymore" treats hoodoo with dignity
and respect; to me that says a lot
about the character and integrity of this former
big city reporter turned author.
No question is too trivial and we are all on
common ground as practitioners of a
wonderful system of magic left to us by the
Ancestors.

Let's have fun tonight gang! See you at the Hoodoo
Hour ;-)

Happy Hoodooing!

I want to thank Christine Wicker for being on the Lucky Mojo Hoodoo
Rootwork Hour Radio Show last night -- she gave us a lot of insights
into how she came to write the book "Not in Kansas Anymore" and why she
foucussed so intently on hoodoo as a subject for her survey of agic in
America.

I also want to thank my dear siva for supplying a great list of
questions for me to ask Christine -- reading those questions of his
made ME look good! :-)

Also thanks to all who had their own questions for Christine during the
Q&A segment of the show.

And, as always, my greatest and deepest thanks go to Dr. Kioni for
making the show itself possible and for his comments to Christine, as
well.

One other thing that got said last night has stuck with me and i think
it is worthwhile mentioning:

Sindy Todo commented that she wanted to thank Christine for the book
because it is helping to make hoodoo more visible to society at large -
- and i certainly want to second that thanks! In writing the book the
way she did, Christine did more than interview Kioni, siva, Adele, and
me -- she gave rootwork -- he entire system of belief, culture, and
practice -- a boost. Her respectful, engaged, pleasant presentation has
placed down home folk magic and spiritual work before the wider
American public in a way that really has never been done before. That
was a valuable service to all root workers, and i, like Sindy, am very
grateful for it.

Having spent time with Christine through the making of "Not in Kansas
Anymore," siva and i consider her a friend for life, and we intend to
stay in touch with her through the years. We wish her all the best in
the promotion of this book -- and in her work on her next project,
which, she told us, will be about the contemporary mega-churches of
Texas -- a fascinating subject. (And Dara, i loved the way you and she
hit it off in discussing the Mayor of Dallas and those mega-churches --
you're going to enjoy hanging out with her too, i know!)

So, again, thanks to all for making last night's radio show possible
and to Christine for being our guest.

If you missed the show, you will be able to catch it in reruns or when
Dr. Kioni archives it at his drkioni.com web site and makes it
available for free download or for purchase in CD form.

(Cat, I went to sleep with a smile on my face! What a wonderful interview
and you are right, your questions were extremely well thought out...Wow, Siva,
you are a multi-faceted husband! Good job! Also, I am deeply moved by your
acknowledgement of my personal comments. I feel certain that we are on the brink of a big
universal shift and rootwork is going to be greatly accepted. It will be because of people like Christine,
you and all of us to make it globally known and appreciated. I feel extremely blessed and yes,
magical to be included in this group. I'll be emailing Christine for sure...that gal has a great gift.-

I second that emotion cat ;-)

Christine put hoodoo on the map and in the consciousness of the world.
I kept thinking of her last night as a bridge builder and started to
say so. She is the Johnny Appleseed of spirituality and her efforts
will yeild much fruit to nourish the misinformed and encouraged
forloin practitioners that magick is alive and very real.

Happy Hoodooing!

hey cat,

That was a great show. I kept thinking about the
different attributes of the magician in the tarot
deck . I saw a rainbow outside this morning when it
was sunny and i that about what you said with looking
closely at things and seeing things differently the
more you work your magic. maybe these weren't the
exact words but it kind of it hit today. I really need
to get back to my roots, no pun intended. I don't
remeber who read that poem but it was really nice to
hear it.

peace,

cidalia

(The poem was by Michaele Maurer (who posts here as Mother Kali and Mother Pyrite). --cat)

Dear Dr. Kioni,

Our exchange Wednesday night really did renew my appreciation of the
warmth and generosity of the Hoodoo community, which I'd felt so
strongly in your home and with Cat and Siva. Thank you for all
you've done for me and the book and for others.

I really needed the encouragement. I believe there are valuable
things in this book and talking about it with you all reminded me of
that all over again. I've done maybe a 100 interviews, which has
been exhausting. People who've read the book have asked penetrating
questions and a good number of readers have contacted me. But the
book isn't selling like it ought to. Maybe your work will remedy
that. I'm doing just as you instructed.

Meanwhile, spending time with the hoodoo crowd perked me up a lot
and renewed my energy. I came away with the same positive feelings
that inspired the book. Thank you.

I'm now looking for magic all the time, as Cat suggested. And it's
wonderful how much richer that makes life.

Also, thank you for the nice things you said about me personally. I
certainly consider you and Marilyn friends. You are both so
wonderful and open and fearless.

Best,
Christine

If any of you have ideas for promotion I'd love to hear them. Dara,
I've postponed my trip to Dallas because the need to publicize the
book is so critical. I'll be there in December instead and maybe we
can get together then.

Dear Christine,
I truly enjoyed listening to you on last week's radio hour, and we all
so appreciate
your participation in it. Your stories were fascinating.
I look forward to meeting you. Concentrate on what you need to now and
let us all know how we can help aside from reviews on Amazon. I'll be here
when you get to Dallas!
I have just received your book (better late than never, but I'm sorry
I'm so behind)
and as soon as I've finished it, I will write a review for you on Amazon and
on the Barnes & Noble website. Are there other sites where reader's reviews
would help you?
I would be happy to write several reviews for you, and I'm sure others here
would, too.

Dara

(Hello Christine and all! I second Dr. K's Welcome Home, you are sooo
magical, it just oozes out of you on paper and in your voice! hahaha...We
will all rally to write you some marvelous reviews and encourage other's to
purchase your book which clearly puts our work in the mainstream. I am going
to Amazon and B&N right now to put in my 2 cents. As I said on the radio
show, I believe we are all on the cusp of a great movement for rootwork and
FYI, this Friday November 11th, is the day for all to pay close attention to
signs you will see about changes coming for each of us. A great shift is
occurring and old grids are shattering. This will be so beneficial to each
of us. Your success along with all of us who are spiritually guided will be
able to "un-stick" whatever we wish. Archangel Metatron and Mother Mary are
busy at work and who we should be petitioning for all these changes to
unfold. I am preparing my alter as I write, as all prayers will be answered.
With great enthusiasm- xxx, Sindy)
