Well, I took notes! Here they are - just to hold you until Dr. K puts it into the audioblog.
2006, April 5: Dreaming Types of Dreams and Concepts About Dreams (theory) How To Use Dreams To Do Hoodoo (techniques), Guests: Queen Mabulla and Eoghan Ballard
EOGHAN: (Cat dreamed EOGHAN was dressed as Santa Claus with giant check in hand.)
Types of dreams:
Daydreams count! An important activity for creativity and health. "Self-induced trance", enabling you to communicate w/ spirit, w/ training.
Nightmares: usually response to waking stressors; warning of denial/avoidance; "the hag," which deserves a show of its own.
Wish-fulfillment.
Dreaming true, aka "big dreams". Signs: recurrence means someone/thing trying to get your attention.
Healing dreams (for self or others), incl learning techniques of healing; or alert that you need to become a healer.
Prophetic dreams access to overlooked or info inaccessible in waking life. Once you dream, you are available to agencies which cannot reach you while awake.
Lucid dreams how not to wake up as soon as you realize you are dreaming (valuable skill b/c so much instruction is available in dream state).
"Epic dreams" many of the above kinds of dreams fall into this category: extremely vivid, intense dreams, depth of emotion that "beggars nomal life", or unusual comment; almost always spirit-induced, often life-changing.
Rabbi Solomon Al-Lomi: if the dream causes strong emotion, then the dream is true people report waking on tear-soaked pillows or laughing with delight. The Bantu call it "blissful dreaming," take them seriously, act on them. "The habit of relating dreams stimulates dreaming itself.
CAT: "familiar landscape dreams" places that exist only in dreams and which you revisit regularly. Dream-people, too.
EOGHAN: yes, definitely spirit-induced.
Techniques: wide use of "visionary plant material", specifically onierogenic dream-inducing rather than waking-psychedelic. Mostly not available outside of Africa; some are, will describe on e-list. Tied to complex ritual activity, initiations.
This is a very different understanding of dreams from that of modern psychology; the dream world is a country in which we are all citizens. Now, do you want to be an activist a full participant or a couch potato?
CAT asks Queen Mabulla: How do we enhance our dream life?
QUEEN MABULLA: (writing book incl 2 chapters on dreams.) Take dreams seriously. Talk about your dreams. Talk about other people's dreams.
Fake it at first with daydreams. Can't visualize? Everyone has a voice in their head that comments on waking life. Use that to comment on your intent speak it into existence.
Establish a routine. Place water next to bed; "it will hold a charge." Speak a prayer for dream power over the water. At bedtime, take a sip and speak or write about what you desire. Finish the water in the morning. Gradually, you will be working magic during your dreams.
Help the process along with relaxing teas.
Ask your spirit guides and ancestors to help you.
To help with her dyslexia, Queen Mabulla created "a place underground in Africa" where she was coached and tutored. Ceremony is wonderful, but all you have to do is ask.
CAT was told -- in a dream -- to keep a dream journal. Kept wide margins (used ledger book) so as to have space to record fulfillments, details remembered later, etc.
QUEEN MABULL -- kept one too -- "the most laborious thing I ever did" -- but now dictates it, though writing, she says, is better; makes use of different areas of the brain than visualizing does. Take your dream-water cup to the crossroads and ask Papa Legba to open the door for you. In the old days, people did their conjure work between daily tasks. Everybody knew not to touch "grandma's cup". Use a dedicated dream-water glass like a candle; put name/petition paper under it, etc.
EOGHAN: all Queen Mabulla's methods reinforce the importance of dreaming. Don't assume that anyone's instructions must be followed to the letter, or that symbols must be interpeted in a particular way.
QUEEN MABULLA: crystals, if you like them: use a small one with a double terminal (a two-way street, so to speak).
Not at all uncommon to have a consistent life in the dream-country that has nothing to do with your waking life.
CAT: Numbers to play: complex numbers that you dream of repeatedly.
QUEEN MABULLA: If this appeals to you, ask spirit for the power to dream lucky numbers. Ask not only for the numbers, but the time to play. She hits fairly big ($15,000 on one occasion) about once a year.
Rainier: prophetic dreams: "Where do I take these dreams?"
CAT: warning dreams are the ones we remember most, but you can develop prophetic dreams for healing. Just as your first, childhood encounter with a stove might be a painful burn, you can learn to "cook" with dreams. Pray for this power.
QUEEN MABULLA: to protect and sweeten dreamwork, cinnamon, sugar, peppercorns (tied in cloth against mice) in glass bowl under bed. Everything must be new, unused. Do not talk to anyone while buying materials for this work. Natural fiber cloth, btw.
CAT: and say a prayer with each knot. Tie at least three.
QUEEN MABULLA: Pray the 91st Psalm while tying. Place in bowl with bayleaves underneath (to keep mind clear).
CAT: Acacia leaves to contact spirits assoc. w/ dead (planted on graves in Africa). Use to sprinkle dedicated water.
DARA: Prayer: "Four angels at my head, 4 angels round my bed; Matthew, Mark, Luke & John, bless this bed I sleep upon."

I have some decorative mosquito netting hanging up over my bed. I was guided recently
to begin throwing some stuff out, to take the stuff I was storing under the bed away and
put it somewhere else (but where?--sigh), to move the bed, because I had it so that the
headboard was against a corner and bad energy and negativity was getting "stuck" there,
to take the netting down, wash it, put it back up, and *use it* against bad dreams and
nightmares and stuff sent to me in my sleep. Some of this was from things I've learned in
the course and from other sources, but some of it I was just "nagged" at to do. Lots of
heavy lifting, much spiritual and literal cleansing going on. I'm happy to report that I'm
seeing VERY good results.
A lot of stores like IKEA and Pier One sell mosquito netting as a sort of "romantic" touch
(though to people trying to avoid getting malaria, real functional mosquito netting is
serious business). Sprayed with the appropriate stuff and drawn around at night, mine is a
very effective barrier against hag-riding and other problems. I recommend it for anyone
who's having persistent trouble.
