NO! Don't pay him unless his petition comes through for you. You can keep burning candles on the petition, but it's best to have a deadline for him to complete the work by. Then if it comes to pass, pay him, if it does not - DON'T

thanks Devi, for clearing that up, i prayed to ST EXP 4 year agao and i offered in advance during the Novena and nothing worked, after that i had no faith in him... and completely forgotten about him.. I should try it again...

I wouldn't be too motivated to work hard if I was paid up front - LOL. Spirits are the same way. Other than deities who I present a devotional offering to before a petition (with a much larger payment offering to follow upon a petition being granted), I NEVER offer up-front payment for work.

OMG such fantastic advice!! There is SO much more to magical work than just following a recipe. Without a foundation in concentration and experience in developing relationships with spiritual beings you're really throwing blind. Some may have beginniner's luck, but being able to consistantly perform is so important to a serious magical practice.

I think having to learn to build relationship cultivates respect for the spirits, so that people are less likely to treat them like gumball machines. I realize that success can be had with using them that way, but it makes me cringe inwardly. Even when I work with a spirit that I never have before, I strive to really approach the whole thing with respect and try to make solid contact before asking for things.

I find blind-petitioning is very hit-or-miss, but if I can manage to have a conversation with the spirit I know that they've heard and that we've made an arrangement that is acceptable to them, that things have a much larger chance to have a successful end. And they do!

thanks to CM for the post, i am glad that i was meditating for 2 years, before i started voodoo... infact it was the energies of the universe that lead me or made me aware that i need to also cleanse myself physically.... and everyday the spirits are guiding me thro the steps i have to take... it is no 1 days magic like the movies, it takes a long time....

I light devotional candles and incense everyday whether or not I am doing any spellwork.

i do this everyday too, it feels sooooooo good, to honour the spirits.....

Hi.. I asked Saint Expedite for a favor.. an he came through..within an hour of the favor I left him a big slice of pound cake.. My question is I am using a St. Expedite vigi candle a) do I put out the candle now that my favor has been granted.. 2) how long do I let the cake sit on the altar, and how should I dispose of it? (I thought I might try to feed some birds, or should I just leave it at a crossroads?)

Feed it to the birds.. I think I read that you can leave it out for a couple of days. It should be somewhere on here. If I was better at finding the links I would find it for you..

You can leave the cake out until it turns stale. That's usually around three or four days. Some people have commented about leaving the cake for a week. I just did that and it was as hard as a rock so I think next time I'll throw it out before it's that petrified!

As for the candle, I'd leave it burning since it is a devotion the Saint Expedite but I suppose it's really up to you. I usually use taper or votives for Saint requests so I don't have a candle burning for a week.

Its always a great idea to keep the candle burning if the petition is granted before it burns out as a thank you. If you are working an actual rite or committed to petitioning a saint over a course of days (Nine Tuesdays of Saint Martha are one example) spend the rest of the time you committed in thanks. This helps build a strong relationship with the spirit and or saint.

He prefers pound cake, which in the Canada and US is widely available in the form of frozen Sara Lee Poundcake. If you can't get pound cake, then I would make one by googling a recipe and baking one, as pound cake and flowers is his prescribed payment...unless of course he's agreed to work for a different kind of cake, and you've arranged that with him before you've petitioned him.

I would not throw it in the garbage - I would place it outside in a natural area. A crossroad would also be a good disposal once it's done as well.

No he works for pound cake, not cake in general, while some people don't offer him flowers or maybe a yellow candle instead of a red one, but the pound cake is a constant thing, if you can not find it in stores you can make it, its a simple recipe. I have used marbled pound cake in a pinch and it still went over well, but it was still pound cake.

1st sign I received was the email about this post above and the 2nd sign is

... An issue that I need help with too.. I will start the Novena tomorrow....

The idea of paying a spirit is sorta new to me. Usually, I just give heartfelt thanks. But everyone is very clear that St Expedite needs to be paid in a specific way with pound cake and flowers. Okay fine. I have both of those on hand, but have a question first.

My request to St Expedite was a total failure.

Several weeks ago, I asked St Expedite to help me get legal papers served on a stalking ex. Believe me, I did a TON of very detailed paperwork on my side. I put 2 different sheriffs on the job. They tried 11 different times to serve him. One of the sheriffs said my ex was clearly home, his car there, but he would not answer the door. He totally evaded service. BTW, I have proof that he knows about the restraining order (he has a copy of it) but it doesn't count as legal notice.

Today, I tried to strike another deal with St Expedite. I had to go to court. Hours of preparation yesterday. Time off work today. I asked St Expedite to please try to get the judge to consider it served. I wanted my case to be done today! Instead, the judge told me I have to do the whole process of serving him all over again and gave me a new court date 2 months from now. I'm so sick of this! Where's my justice?

I'm very disappointed at the abject failure of what should have been an easy court case, except for the fact that my ex is hiding out from the police and getting away with it. In a case where there is NO success at all, do you still make payment of pound cake and flowers?

No, you do not make payment if he does not grant your petition.

In the future, you should do divination beforehand to see if St. Expedite would be a good choice for you to petition or not. That way you won't waste any time or energy on a work that doesn't look like it will be successful, and you can concentrate on one that will.

Also, although he works fast, giving him more than 24 hours in which to grant a petition is wise.

Good idea. I did divination on my overall situation, but not on using St Expedite in particular. I got very positive major arcana about taking him to court to make him stop, but I only read about what actions I should take, not about the Saint.

He had over 3 weeks to get my ex served. I asked again this morning because I was hoping maybe there was good reason behind the failed notice and that it might still end up in my favor in court.

I'll do another tarot reading, but this should've been a slam dunk. I'm gob-smacked.

Work with St. Michael. He is the patron saint of police, and he will strike down anyone that messes with you. I petitioned St. Michael once for someone that was stalking my client, and he was coming to her job, and home. He got off lightly the first time, and went right back to trying to go against the restraining order again. Well, lets just say he is in jail now, and got the maximum sentence for this and going against his probation. He had other violations too. So I think St. Michael will be the most appropriate to petition to keep this person away from you, and get the justice you deserve. St. Michael helps aid you and lead a person to victory as well.

Saint Michael will definately get your protection and help the police in their efforts.

With Saint Expedite the trick seems to be to make sure you give him a specific time frame. I want you to do so and so by the end of the week, or whatever time frame seems reasonable. Then after you make your petition, take a second to still your mind and listen. This is when you'll see if St. Expedite will work with you, and if he needs anything else besides pound cake and flowers. You'll get an impression that they want you to make the extra effort of giving a donation, or praising them in the newspaper, or some other form of payment. I've found that this helps a great deal when it comes to petitioning a saint or entity to work on your behalf. You gotta give them an offer, then listen to see if they accept or want more.

Also leave out a cup of water next to his candle (some add a bit of Florida Water to this) to help you in your petitions to the Saint.

Dust all your papers with Court Case powders and pray that whoever touches them will favor your case and expedite the process. Sweeten the judge to you, if you can get his name or picture, and before you go into court light a brown candle anointed in Court Case oil and Solomon's Wisdom and pray to the Spirit of Justice, or the Spirit of King Solomon that you be granted a swift victory, that justice prevails and that the eyes of the judge are opened with wisdom to side with your case. You could even do some Clarity work on him.

If you want a spell to make your evasive stalker surface and get caught by the authorites, PM me. I think I have just the thing for it.

Here's a less harsh one then the one I had in mind. Take a black figure candle that you've carved, loaded and batized and anoint it with Compelling Oil and Devil's Shoe String oil. You can also dust it with some Knotweed Take some black thread and bind his arms, feet, and eyes. Tell him he is blind to what is coming to him, that he cannot see the authorites coming for him, tell him he is unable to work against you, tell him that he's unable to run away that he's tied down. Place the candle in a triangle of Devil's Shoe String to tie him down and restrict him, to keep him from fleeing justice. Finally place four indian head pennies in a square around the entire set up. Anoint with Indian Spirit Guide oil and light a white candle on each penny. Ask that if this stalker tries to flee that he be caught, ask that no matter where he goes that he is exposed to the police. Then light your candles and demand that he turn himself in, demand that he stop running, demand that he stop evading otherwise he'll make things worse for himself. If he doesn't listen and still tries to flee his attempts will be restricted, foiled, and the Indian scouts will lead the police right to him.

What wonderful, detailed info you've given, ConjureMan, you really are the best!! I must agree with starsinthesky and ConjureMan about working with Saint Michael. I am simply a novice, but I have started to pray to him for protection, and I feel like it is really working, and like he's a companion that is always with me. I light white candles anointed with St. Michael oil and I always place a cup of water (think I will start to add some Florida water too) and his holy card next to the candle (in addition to saying the prayer on the card several times). I also wear the oil for protection, and keep a holy card in my purse (and am waiting for my LM order so I can start putting the crystals in my laundry rinse and floorwash)

Now I am trying to figure out the best way to thank him. I think I will donate to a battered women's shelter, but I am kinda waiting to see what charity my spirit guides me to. Normally, I donate to the Red Cross to express my gratitude to Dr. Gregorio Hernandez, but I think I have to do something different for my buddy Saint Michael.

But enough of my rambling. . . . good luck and blessings to you with this difficult legal matter.

I didn't want to confuse my story, but I've also been working w/ St. Michael (and FWP) throughout this drama. Mostly I've asked him to protect me, make my ex stop harassing me. Things usually quiet down after I light a candle for him. I felt that he was there keeping me safe. The judge and officers all very kind. A lawyer pulled me aside to give me some tips about tricking my ex so I can have him served. I got help today. Last night, St Michael told me he wants me to donate some products I usually sell to a women's shelter. He's so easy to communicate with.

I don't feel like I have my relationship connected with St Expedite just yet. I'll meditate on him.

Honestly, I would not work with St. Expedite in this situation. I understand that you want this to happen quickly, but this is probably going to take some careful planning to get what you want. I would work with St. Martha or do some kind of domination work to slow him down. Even a bend over, or controlling spell kit may help in this situation. You might want to consider doing a freezer jar with some mustard seeds and some poppy seeds to confuse him and disrupt his activities, and lower his influence so that you can serve him those papers.

brujaha---Besides St. Martha, St. Joseph and many others...St michael has been another saint that I enjoy working with. I use to have dreams about him as well, and thought it was really weird at first until I kept having the dreams and felt compelled to work with him. He is definitely a great saint to work with for protection, and victory. I have seen him come through for me time and time again when someone is trying to throw negativity my way (both spiritual and in everyday life).

Hello all, I'm about to begin a novena to St. Expedite. I have never worked with this Saint so I've done a bit of research, but I have not been able to find the pronunciation of his name. Its probably just as simple as "expedite" as you would say to expedite something, but I'd like to be sure. It seems disrespectful to say the name incorrectly since I'm asking for favors!

Another question: Usually when I work with Saints, I don't make a petition paper, I just make my request. What do others of you do?

Yes your pronunciation is correct. I like to write my petition down on a piece of paper, and stick it under the candle. I do this because I like to use the same candle I have dedicated to a saint, but switch out the petitions when they are granted.

I actually have been taught to pronounce his name Expeditee as opposed to Expedite. He is a Roman saint and the name is Latin so it will also take the Latin pronunciation, more like Expeditay.

With that said, I have clients who also refer to him as Espedee. He's a Saint, I think he'll hear you no matter what.
