Hi, I am new. Can anyone help?

Unread post by Fiona » Sun Mar 21, 2010 6:35 am

Hello, I am new here. I live in London, in the UK.

I recently discovered this web site and I really love it, there is so much to learn from you all here. :)

I am 28 years old, and have only very recently become fascinated by Hoodoo. I can't even begin to describe what it is, but I feel a really magnetic pull towards it, and feel thirsty to begin learning and practising....The only thing is, over here where I live, there is almost no information at all to learn about Hoodoo....I couldn't find any books in stores or anything.

I only know basic things, and I feel thirsy to learn more. Can any kind person here please give me some information, such as good online resources, the best books, the best types of recipies etc for new beginners and any information that would be helpful?

Thank you for your time and patience,
Fiona x

Hi Fiona,

Welcome to the board. You have definitely come to the right place if you want to learn about hoodoo. This forum and all of the other Lucky Mojo sister sites are a wealth of information.

Here is a link to a recent post that you might find helpful in regards to learning more about hoodoo. In particular, take a look at Ms. Cat's (catherineyronwood) response which is the 4th post on the page.

Lucky Mojo also sells books. You can check them out here.

Hope that helps.

Hi Fiona and Welcome

I'm also in the U.K. and am a student of Miss Cat's, I highly recommend her book 'Hoodoo Herb and Root Magic...... its my bible on Hoodoo! and you can buy it from Lucky Mojo Store.

I have placed most of a book about hoodoo online for free. Since you say you're not even able to describe this work or its traditions, but feel attracted to it, i recommend you spend a week or two reading every linked page in that book. It is called "Hoodoo in Theory and Practice". You can start here with the table of contents:

Good luck in your studies and in your magical works.

I'm from the UK and I've spent quite a lot of my time reading about Hoodoo on this site, sitting with my notepad making notes

I would recommend going to Youtube to listen to the songs listed on the link given.
