Goodie! I've been waiting for dates... and will be attending! I'd like to sign up for pretty much ALL the classes! cat's astrology class, Fred Burke's sweetening class, Ms. Bri's love work class, Ms. Lara's footwashing class, Miss Robin's gambling class...as long as the times don't conflict. I hope I don't have to choose! I'm not a course graduate yet, so the jackball course will have to wait till next year I suppose. I'm confused about the hoodoo food class requirements though- one must have a hoodoo food recipe to attend? Must it be traditional or may one create a recipe for the purpose?

I'd like to attend. Is there a deadline for RSVP? What is the closest airport to LM?

If I may inquire, where is the list of workshops that are being presented this year? I found last year's, but cannot seem to find this year's list.

I received the newsletter today with the class listings but it didn't mention any of the classes absynthia mentioned. They sound great too....

absynthia is probably confused because the thread pertaining the workshop from last year does not clearly state the year, although the dates of the posts should make it clear. I assume that each year different classes will be given.

It would be helpful if a list of classes were made available on this thread, instead of just in the newsletter.

It is so exciting to see all of the folks who will be coming for the workshops! For those who have never been before, these really are an incredible opportunity to get hands on training. I attended the first workshop weekend two years ago in Alameda as well as the one last year--they just keep getting better! Looking forward to see you all there!

I feel so dumb! I forgot to sign up for Miss Cat's astrology workshop! Please add me to that list as well.

I live in Sacramento, and I was thinking I would commute back and forth both days. Now that I am thinking about it, I just may make it a long awaited retreat in Santa Rosa. I am so excited! I will look up places to sleep over!

My birthday is in May, and this is going to be my birthday present to myself! YEA!!

I am so giddy about this! It feels like I am a kid, again!

I'll be driving up from LA, so I plan on attending most, if not all, the workshops as long as they aren't run concurrently. Plan on signing up for Cat's HRCC soon so I can attend her jackball workshop.

Truly looking forward to this!

Hi, Carol, I look forward to seeing you. The workshops do not overlap -- an industrious person can take ALL of them -- but the jackball workshop is for course graduates only and there is no way you can join the course now and graduate by May. I offer the jackball workshop every year, though, so if you take the course now, you will have graduated by next year.

I look forward to seeing you!

Hello!

I have a dear friend who will be visiting me from another state that weekend, and I will be bringing him along with me. His trip to California is going to be a spiritual retreat for him, and I pray that he is guided magically with the blessings of God, the Almighty! His intitals are K.S. so please save him a spot on the same workshops that I am signed up for.

That reminds me, I need to call the shop to find out what all I need to bring for the Culinary Magic workshop! I am so excited!!!

with love and prayers,

Hello Everybody!

I have just confirmed my flight and lodging for the Lucky Mojo Party and Workshops in May 2010!  Whoo-hoo!  I am very excited to travel to Forestville and meet miss cat and nagasiva, and all the wonderful presenters at the workshop - in person!  I can hardly wait to see the shop.

I was wondering whom else might be coming?  I'm staying at the Fern Grove Cottages.  I had a trippy conversation with "Margaret".  I asked if there any discounted rates for the event, and her mind was blown by what I was coming for, LOL!  I told her I was traveling for a conference on African-American Folk Magic, presented by Lucky Mojo.  I mean come on, doesn't everybody know about Lucky Mojo in Guerneville?!

Anyway, I'm looking forward to being back in my Cali, albeit it's northern Cali, a bit different than my southern California, but it's still California all the same.

Peace,
Najah

I would love to attend, but won't know if I can until next week sometime, but here are the classes I'm most interested in attending:
All of Miss Bri's classes ;)
Fred Burke's class on sweetening spells
Miss Lara's foot washing class
I will let you know one way or the other as soon as I find out if I'll be able to make it. I'll be driving up from LA. Any idea how long the drive usually takes? Thanks!
Thank you St Florian for your protection!

The drive from LA to Forestville is long -- best to come up the day before and stay overnight in a motel. We are 1 1/2 hours north of San Francisco, a few miles west of the 101. See

Just throwing this out there :)

I'll be driving from the LA area and plan on attending all workshops that I'm allowed to attend (no jackball class for me). If anyone is interested in carpooling and/or splitting the cost of a room, please PM me.

Only sane, adventurous people need apply - it'll be a looong drive.

Robin Petersen and i are putting the finishing touches on the rules for the Conjure Cook-Off, so look for those in your next newsletter -- and i will post the URL here as well.

Lara Rivera and i will also have the daily schedule of classes assembled soon -- i'm hoping we will work on all of this tomorrow and the next day, and to have it all into newsletter format by mid-March.

Additionally, there is the apprenticeship program for graduates that will run suring the week BEFORE the workshops. If you are a course graduate and want to take a partial completin of he apprenticeship program in one-week segments, this i your chance. Details to follow via biewletter.

How long is the apprenticeship program? Does it need to be completed in person? I am definitely interested, but don't know if I can spend a whole week in California.

I learned a lot last year and had fun. I'll be there again this year. I want to take: Astrology, Jackball, and a couple others, but not sure exactly which ones. Probably depends on the schedule. If you are wondering if you should go... You should!

I'd love to attend the Hoodoo Food workshop - better call the shop :) and I really need to attend the Jack Ball workshop. I ought to do the Foot Washing workshop again, too.

But I can only attend one day.

The Apprenticeship orgram this year runs the week of May 3 - May 7 and covers Week 2 of the 3-week apprenticeship. Any course graduate can take these lessons, but you will be required to sign a standard non-disclosure agreement, as you will be working with shop materials. No taping is allowed, either.

You do not need to have previously taken Week 1 to take Week 2.

Once you have taken all 9 Apprenticeship lessons (which may occur over the course of 3 years) and you ahve worked the requisite number of hours for me in payment (part of the week's work, and accomplished during the week), you will have earned your Apprenticeship certificate.

If you are interested in the Apprenticeship, please call the shop. We have 5 people tentatively scheduled at this time. There is no set limit on the number of people who can take the apprenticeship, but attendance will be limited.

If a sufficient number of people can also attend the next week for 5 days, i will continue the apprenticeship on to Week 3; if not, they can wait until the next series of Apprenticeship lessons.

Hello all (and sorry If I'm posting this in the wrong place),
I don't want to clutter the forum with personal correspondence but I was just wondering if there is anyone in the LA or Orange County area that will be traveling north in early May for the Hoodoo and Rootwork training workshops? I am looking to maybe catch a ride up there, and I am willing to split gas. I was going to look for ride shares online closer to the date, but I would much rather travel with a fellow rootworker. Anyway, if there is anyone in the area who might be willing, please PM me. Thank you.

Since we do hold these events every year, you will have further opportunities to attend. No videotaping is allowed, though -- the workshops are private lessons presented by well-known teachers and practitioners and conveyed to folks who want to really learn the secrets of hands-on work, not just read about hoodoo on the web.

Anyone can attend (you do not need to be a student of my correspondence course), and our intention is to not only see that folks get some great lessons in old-school conjure, but also to provide a place for root doctors and spiritual workers from all over to meet and make friends, in the interests of promoting a truly collegial hoodoo community.

I'm actively working on making going possible. Is it acceptable to post a thread for ride/room share info?

I would need a ride from Seattle, WA (I don't drive but can pay extra on gas to compensate) and would be interested in sharing a room.

Yes, htere is a thread already up about rides from Southern California, so go ahead and post a new topic thread about rides from Seattle, Oregon, etc.

I would like to attend at least one day of workshops. Will a schedule be posted? I would really really like to attend the the Astrology workshop because old fashioned sky observation is very important to my sense of time and space. I'm hoping that one might possibly be on the Saturday? I'm not sure if I can attend workshops on the Sunday.

So we don't clog up the board with individual posts.

I would need a ride to Forestville, California from Seattle, WA (I don't drive but can pay extra on gas to compensate) and would be interested in sharing a room.

I'm also interested in the possibility of leaving a few days early and taking the train to the nearest station and getting a ride from there.

If you're talking about Amtrak I believe the nearest station is Sacramento or somewhere in the Bay Area

Amtrak to the Eastbay is on a more direct route to our place than Sacramento is, but the train does not come all the way up here to Sonoma County anymore (it used to, and it even stopped in Forestville, many years ago, but they tore up the tracks and widened the highway, and that was the end of that).

I would like to sign up for the candle class whichever day it is? and can I also rsvp for 2 people besides me?
which day is it, or is there one on both days... whatever.... I plan to BE THERE, WAHOO!
*OK now I'm totally confused* the March newsletter said that Bri would be doing a "candle dressing" class, that is what I want to do along with a couple of friends. so that wd be RSVP x 3. Only now, looking at the schedule it is not listed???
(which is what?)
is you is or is you ain't doing the candle dressing class... ?

I'm another non-driver with gas money. I'd like to attend both days and could also pay up to $50 to share a hotel room. I'm in Willits, about 80 miles north of Santa Rosa. Anyone coming from Laytonville? Fort Bragg? Arcata? Oregon? Points north?

Otherwise I'll come with members of my family who drive but aren't free to make a 160-mile round trip twice.
