I'm glad to have found this site!
Greetings everyone, I have studied wicca for almost a year now and I've come to realize that it is not my path. I was talking to a lady and told her I was interested in appalachian granny magic, she asked if I ever looked into Hoodoo. I said no because I thought it was the same as voodoo and was primarily in louisanna. She explained very briefly the differences. (I really need to quit listening to the media and movies and base my opinions on solid fact) As soon as I got home I logged on the internet and I found Lucky Mojo. I was completely shocked to learn that alot of the Hoodoo practitioners are christian and read and use the bible! I know there is more to christianity than what is preached on sunday's and I am not saying it is the only path. I admit I know nothing and I want to learn. Thank you to everyone that makes this site available. I have never seen any books or anything related about Hoodoo in my area. I live in central IL. I look forward to continuing to learn.

Aaron, welcome to this forum. I hope you enjoy all the free reading at Lucky Mojo, and, if you wish to pursue this form of folk magic more deeply, pick up a few books on the subject, such as "Mules and Men" by Zora Neale Hurston, "Folk Beliefs of the Southern Negro" by Newbell Niles Puckett, "Hoodoo Herb and Root Magic" by yours truly, and "Conjure in African American Society" by Jeffrey Anderson.
Good luck in your travels through the wonderful world of American Southern Christian folk magic!

Welcome to the forum! There is a ton of information on the various Lucky Mojo sub-domains in addition to all the questions and answers here. The books Miss cat recommended are excellent as well.
