How to Use Lucky Mojo Magical Herbs, Roots, Seeds, Flowers Questions and Answers
Re: How to Use Lucky Mojo Magical Herbs, Roots, Seeds, Flowers Questions and Answers
Hello friends!
Can I use red roses for gay love or just for straight couples?
I have to mention that I am doing this for a guy who is the dominant one, I am the botton.
Can I combine lavender with red roses and cinnamon ?
Sorry for my English
Thanks!

Hello root,
Yes, you can use all the herbs you mentioned for gay love. And you can really use just about any love herb for gay love, for that matter. Love is love. Just keep in mind that anytime a spell calls for roots that are male/female (for example: a High John the Conqueror and a Queen Elizabeth root) for heterosexual love, you would use two of the male version (two High John roots) for male homosexual love.
For more information about what herbs/rootwork you can use and do for homosexual love, check out this book:

Good luck!

Re: How to Use Lucky Mojo Magical Herbs, Roots, Seeds, Flowers Questions and Answers
Hope I am posting in the right place, but here goes. I am having a hard time rolling the herbs on the candles, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. My question is what is the best way to roll my candles in the herbs, I try paper towel sometimes but it seems like the oil is being wiped off the candles, or I try to rub it on with one hand holding the candle etc. Can someone tell me the best way to do this without putting too little or too much herb on the candles thanks.

Hello, Curios12 --
Rolling candles in herbs is covered in my book, "The Art of Hoodoo Candle Magic," so i take it that you do not have the book. Here are two suggestionsL
1) If you grind the herbs to a fine powder they will stick to oils more easily. Oil the candles and then dust the candles with the herb powder.
2) If you melt soft or sticky type wax -- just a thin layer -- on aluminum foil, add the herbs and oil, let it begin to cool, and roll that layer of wax on the candles, it will stick.
Paper towels will not serve you well. I recommend that you do not use them.
Good luck.

Re: How to Use Lucky Mojo Magical Herbs, Roots, Seeds, Flowers Questions and Answers
So I kind of searched this thread for my answer but didn't see much answer on such a simple topic.... but anyway,
Someone asked what's the difference if you go with the root itself or powder or oil form. Cat explained that Adam and Eve root for example are close to extinction so the oil doesn't contain the real root for example.
But what if you have the option of getting herbs and roots of any kind specific to your intention (whether it be love drawing or controlling), and you can use licorice root or bitter root chips, but you can also just get the sachet powders for those purposes instead, such as controlling, love me, etc. Or if you want to put red peppers in a jar for anger and discord, you can also just have inflammatory confusion on hand or restless oil. So I'm just wondering when you want to order something for a dollbaby, why so often do I find that people use the roots themselves instead of anointing the dolls with different powders or oils? I mean, wouldn't they serve the same purpose? Or are the herbs themselves stronger than the sachet and oil form?
Thanks

Re: How to Use Lucky Mojo Magical Herbs, Roots, Seeds, Flowers Questions and Answers
DaniWonderland,
I think part of it depends on what you're using the herbs/roots for that determines the form you order them, and part of it is personal preference.
For example, if I was doing a love spell, and I wanted to dress my candles with an oil and some sort of powder, I'd maybe choose a love oil and Queen Elizabeth root in powder form, because a powder will stick to the candle, when a whole root will of course fall right off.
Some people prefer to use whole roots, some people will just get roots in whatever form they can, and at what price works for them.
Some people prefer to use powdered roots, instead of sachet powders.
Some people just use the materials they have on hand, and will use in the same spell, for example, Lucky Mojo Money Drawing sachet powder, Attraction oil, and Bayberry root chips.
You don't need to worry about if herbs are "stronger" when used plain or in a sachet powder or oil, because Lucky Mojo uses the same herbs across individual product formulas. So Cast Off Evil oil will contain eucalyptus, as will the sachet powder, as well the incense, as will the bath crystals. You more should just think about which form of the herb you need, and what your spell calls for.

Re: How to Use Lucky Mojo Magical Herbs, Roots, Seeds, Flowers Questions and Answers
Thanks a lot sisterjean,
That's what I wanted to confirm. IT's all about preference.
Either way over the period of few months I do plan to stock up on all the roots and herbs regardless if I get condition oils and powders.
Now one thing I noticed, your Queen Elizabeth root - it comes in powder form, and it also comes in SACHET powder form. What is the difference with these two now?
And when you use an oil as well as a powder to dress a candle, using the same condition oil and powder together doesn't make the work stronger? You rather use one condition oil and another condition powder so you can mix it up? Because so far I've dressed my candles with 2 or 3 oils and then 2 of the same powders over it. What's a better and effective way to go with it, you'd say?

Re: How to Use Lucky Mojo Magical Herbs, Roots, Seeds, Flowers Questions and Answers
Hello DaniWonderland,
Well it's not my Queen Elizabeth Root powder, it's Lucky Mojo's. The difference between the two is that the root powder is *just* powdered Queen Elizabeth Root powder. The sachet powder is a base powder that powdered Queen Elizabeth Root powder, essential oils and other ingredients have been added to. The difference in form is to give folks options depending on what they're trying to do. For example, plain Queen Elizabeth root powder can be mixed with menstrual blood and sprinkled into food in small amounts to influence a target, but you wouldn't want to sprinkle a sachet powder into food because it would be very difficult to disguise (and could contain ingredients you wouldn't want to ingest).
Dressing a candle with oil and then sprinkling it with sachet powder is a very traditional way of dressing candles. But so is just dressing a candle with oil. Like I've said before, it's not really about what is stronger, it's about your goal, what you have on hand, and your personal preference. Yes you can mix the oils you put on a candle, and you can do so with oils. Both are traditional ways of working.

Gotcha. Thanks for clarifying. Do you guys sell any black powder here to conceal any sachet powder I need to use?

Hey DaniWonderland,
I think you'd have better luck just mixing it with some local dirt. The appearance will be much more neutral than black. Lucky Mojo does sell colored, unscented sachet powders here (scroll to the bottom):
http://www.luckymojo.com/mojocatpowders.html#mineral
But there's no black, just gray, so I think that would also stick out.

Re: How to Use Lucky Mojo Magical Herbs, Roots, Seeds, Flowers Questions and Answers
Hello,
I had a reading from Miss Aida and one of her suggestions was to use a "love herb mix" in a honey jar spell. Anyway I was assuming this was going to be a pre-mixed thing that was sold on LM but it's not. I do know of several herbs used in love rootwork and obviously there are many listed on the herbs page here. However I'm just wondering if there would be any suggestions on a standard for this? If not, I'll probably just go with the 3 "Medieval True Love Powder" herbs (elecampane, vervain/verbena, and mistletoe). Mostly because I already have two of them on hand but also because I just don't know what else to use - any suggestions?
Sorry if this has been asked and answered, I've read so many forum posts the last couple weeks and to go through them all would be next to impossible.
Thanks for your help!

Hello, royal_PITA,
I certainly wouldn't recommend a Lucky Mojo product that didn't exist! I know most of their products by heart
Here it is!

Hello All!
I have a question, I'd like to make oils for healing and I was wondering how do you charge the herbs? I have heard from someone a little recently and they said in order for the oil(s) to work that you need to charge up the herbs or you will just have oil and herbs.

HoodooBeginner --
You seem to have African American folk magic (hoodoo, conjure, rootwork) seriously confused with Neo-Pagan Wiccan or Traditional Witchcraft practices.
We do not "charge" anything (except, perhaps, our credit cards). LOL!
I suggest that before you begin dabbling in hoodoo oil-making, you actually learn what hoodoo is, what its basic traditional methodologies are, where it came from, and how we, practitioners of this form of work, treat and deal with the making of spiritual supplies.
Here are some links that may help you:
Hoodoo in Theory and Practice Table of Contents
http://luckymojo.com/hoodoo.html
Basic Understanding of Traditional African American Hoodoo
basic-understanding-of-traditional-afri ... 19287.html
Seriously speaking, and with no intent to insult you, a "beginner" should not be making oils without an understanding of the way we work. Your question implies a complete lack of understanding -- or else a reliance on self-promoting internet sources that have no connection to Black American culture and have falsely appropriated the term "hoodoo" to describe their own way of compounding oils according to Neo-Pagan principles.
Stick around and read some of the real stuff here and at the Lucky Mojo web site.
Good luck.

Just a reminder --
The new 8th edition of "Hoodoo Herb and Root Magic" is now available. Available since 2002, with 24,000 copies in print, and no change in price.
* 224 pages, available in trade paperback softcover ($14.95) or limited edition clothbound hardcover ($39.95).
* 500 herbs, roots, minerals, and rare zoological curios, with taxonomic ("Latin") names for proper identification.
* 750 traditional spells, tricks, and magical recipes. These are complete, easy-to-use, and highly practical, designed for readers who want to go beyond the "romance" or symbolism of herb magic and actually mix up and make their own potions, dressing oils, bath crystals, incenses, floor washes, and mojo bags. If you grow or gather herbs, this book will teach you exactly how to use them.
* 50 black and white line illustrations of common magical herbs and roots of North America.
* 6 handy charts in which dozens of conditions -- such as love-drawing or protection -- are listed and the herbs for each condition are given in alphabetical order. This saves time when looking for ways to use herbs that are available -- and you can use these charts to find substitutions, if necessary.
* Cross-referencing: Every herb is accompanied by at least one spell. End-of-entry cross-references make it easy to find other spells in which the herb is used -- no flipping back to an index: Cross-references are right in the entry itself.
* Bibliography: Authentic recipes are drawn from first-hand experience and 100 years of solid folkloric research.

Hi Catherine, et al,
I'm wondering about the herb source for LM products.
In search of herbs gathered left hand, no steel, offering of gratitude to Earth when gathered.

Dear Dhat+hat --
We do not belong to a magical or religious tradition that encourages left-handedness, forbids steel implements, or creates a system of offerings of gratitude to the earth.
Of course some folks among us may be left-handed, and some herbs are plucked by hand instead of with clippers, and some people may thank the plants or leave offerings, but there is no institutionalized tradition of doing so in African American folk magic
Please read more about the African American hoodoo tradition here:

Good luck.
The magical qualities of these products are described in this book, with folkloric hoodoo spells for use in practical conjure,

Re: How to Use Lucky Mojo Magical Herbs, Roots, Seeds, Flowers Questions and Answers
Hi,
How does one call or pray on the spirit for a herb to help in spells?
Once I get a herb out of a packet, I completely understand my intentions with it but fumble with words when trying to ask or thank the herb for assistance.
I know it's important to do it especially if the herb hasn't been used for a while but can someone give me an example, suggestion or share how they do it?

I'm sorry if this has already been discussed - I wasn't able to find it.
Anyway just curious where you store your herbs and oils? My supply is starting to get a little out of hand and while I keep the herbs I cook with in the kitchen, I tend to keep the ones that are only used for rootwork on my altar in a plastic container thing (I think it's actually a craft storage thing) but that is now overflowing plus doesn't fit my tools, books, bottles for oils and whatnot. Just curious what everyone else uses. I'd kind of like something that holds my tools, oil bottles, and herbs all in one but this altar is in my bedroom (actually it's my fireplace - and it was chosen for the obvious reason of being fireproof) so I would rather not have a bunch of tables and stuff laying about if possible. It's starting to look really cluttered in there. My books I can store in my closet on the bookshelf so that's NBD.

Re: How to Use Lucky Mojo Magical Herbs, Roots, Seeds, Flowers Questions and Answers
Hello loyal_stranger,
You don't want to keep your Lucky Mojo oils or herbs near heat or in direct sunlight, but other than that, you can do whatever works for you. My altar is a vintage vanity table, and I keep my oils and herbs in the drawers. Maybe set up a small bookcase devoted to your magical tools?

Hello catsandtea19,
Combined with other love herbs, Balm of Gilead would be a great one for that: http://herb-magic.com/balm-of-gilead.html
That's one of the ingredients in Reconciliation Oil, and you can find spellwork that uses Balm of Gilead buds and Reconciliation products here:
http://www.luckymojo.com/reconciliation.html
Good luck!

Hello, red apple ,
It is a medicinal herb. So it is used in (and as) medicines.
Many other herbs are used as medicines including cardiac drugs. Catnip has a numbing effect (as well as other effects)
So, I personally wouldn't recommend using it for human consumption
Take care

Hello everyone
I have been looking everywhere for a live plant of Devil's Bit and I haven't had much luck. But I recently found a nursery with a plant that resembles Devil's Bit a lot. The only information I can get for the plant is a label that says "#1 perennial Scabiosa". I would like to know if this plant is indeed Devil's Bit?.
Thank you!

If you had a copy of my handy book, "Hoodoo Herb and Root Magic," you'd have the answer to that! LOL!
Yes, Scabious is Devil's Bit.
Buy the book -- it's worth it.

Hello lalyil,
I would recommend getting miss cat's book Hoodoo Herb and root magic (http://www.luckymojo.com/hoodooherbmagic.html) for a good discussion of the uses of herbs. I personally have used lavander an sugar for friendships. But I am sure there are plenty of other ways to work for that.
Peace~

Re: How to Use Lucky Mojo Magical Herbs, Roots, Seeds, Flowers Questions and Answers
I organized all my herbs and mixed them with my oils and want to mix them in with soy wax and make small jar candles from them, question though...
Would too many herbs/thick herb mix to wax ratio make them hard to burn? Are there any herbs that I shouldn't leave in a candle because if it burns it'd be a disaster?
Just trying to get out all the kinks before I do this officially and waste all my herbs and oils.

Hello, Shutter ,
You know, if this is your first time, experiment first with a little. It's difficult to have perfection the very first time.
I prefer finely grinding the herbs. And, yes, too many herbs (with a 50/50 ratio) will most likely be a flop (or a fire).
You would need a lot less herbs than that
Experiment first. See what happens in a tea light container.
Wishing you the best
Take care

Hello Shutter,
Miss Aida already gave you some good advice, so start by heeding that.
Good luck.
This book in our series on practical folklore may be of help to you.
"This Amazing Book - Hoodoo Herb and Root Medicine" is a restored, revised, and edited presentation of a little-known classic of medical herbology, first published in 1947 by the Sunrae Products Company of Ogema, Wisconsin. In this new edition, catherine yronwode teaches you the "other" side of magical rootwork — the down-home, historical, and practical medical side of the work. With new added illustrations, and pages of practical recipes for home-made medicines, this book is designed as a page-by-page cross-reference to the author's previous best-seller, Hoodoo Herb and Root Magic. Use these two books in tandem to get the best of two worlds from Nature's herbs, roots, barks, flowers, and seeds.

Re: How to Use Lucky Mojo Magical Herbs, Roots, Seeds, Flowers Questions and Answers
Hi I've been harvesting nettles to drink as a herbal infusions now for sometime love the taste, I also include them in my hoodoo.
But yesterday I came across a wild overgrown Cemetery and there were lots of nettles growing out of old graves.
And I wondered if grave yards would hold extra Meaning within hoodoo? Or would I be more specific as do whose grave they're growing on or not at all?
Thanks
Seanpaul

Hello, Sean Paul Erie,
Hmmm....
I'm a little hesitant about drinking Nettle tea that was grow in a graveyard.
My suggestion is to try it just once in a spell (to see what happens) but not to drink it. Just in case there's negative energies around them.
It makes me nervous...
Take care

Hello goldentouch97,
Are you asking if Lucky Mojo carries this herb, also called wild basil, African basil and clove basil? The closest would be the basil that Lucky Mojo carries; it belongs to the same Ocimum genus:
http://herb-magic.com/basil.html
Hope that helps!

Hi everyone I just wanted to ask a question....I think I already know the answer but was wondering if anyone else had a similar experience. I live in the UK so finding stuff out here is a bit difficult......anyway my question is...I did a bit of work for myself in reguards to a break up with my ex....not long after the lights in my home started to flicker...not just in the front room but upstairs too.....I belive this confirmation that the one I asked is now on the job.....has anyone else had this? Or is it just me.

Thank you, Miss Athena!
What a fantastic thread (and packed with great ideas!) I know what I'll be reading tonight.
Thank you for the link.
They've had steady business, but have also had their share of folks desiring the "five finger discount" and the occasional "fun" customer (the type they'd prefer never return)... I raised an eyebrow when I saw the description of a spell to draw in good customers and repel bad. I assumed the direction to bury it at the front door meant it was to be deployed as a bottle spell, then again, I could be way off.
I've seen a ton of great ideas, some as simple as Fiery Wall of Protection oil anointing the doors and windows to (enter level of complexity here.) I'm starting simple, but won't shy away from jumping in when I have a clearer understanding.
They are truly wonderful people, a huge part of my life and appreciation for all things magical, and my best friends in all the world. I would do darned near anything to see them continue to be successful while chasing off the ne'er do wells. They also won't mind me using them as guinea pigs (lol) while I endeavor to integrate my love of herbs and plants with new methods of using them. I think it's going to be a lot of fun and learning for us all!
I haven't read the thread yet, but I have a feeling it will help tremendously. I'm so glad you pointed it out.

Hi amithyzt,
Glad that thread is helpful.
If your friends are having trouble with malignant customers, use Red Brick Dust across their entranceway. It will keep bad people from coming inside.
http://www.herbmagic.com/red-brick-dust.html
From the label on the packet, miss cat offers this advice:
Protection Scrub for Home or Business: On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, get up before dawn without speaking to anyone and wash your doorstep with your own Urine in a bucket of water. When it dries, sprinkle red brick dust across the doorstep. To make the wash stronger, write the Name of the Captain of Police on paper, burn the Name-Paper to ashes, and add the ashes to your scrub water.
Since your friends sound amenable to spellwork, offer them that suggestion and see if it helps them avoid bad customers.
Good luck.

Nice! And it's one I hadn't noticed before... I will definitely pass the word along.
In the thread you provided I read of Boldo leaf being used on a candle for much the same purpose and (conveniently) there's some on the way. Next order brick dust is a must! We'll have many options and more than I even imagined.
Sure appreciate your assistance, I'll definitely let you know how things progress.

Hi amithyzt,
It sounds like you have all the bases covered.
Boldo is a powerful agent against bad people, so that is a wise choice. You could make it into tea and use that either in a wash or for your friends to drink for personal protection. You have many options, and I am happy to see you take such an active interest in your friends' welfare.
Have you considered taking miss cat's course in rootwork? You seem to have a talent for it, so it's something you might want to consider. You would absolutely LOVE the course!
Please keep us posted. Good luck!

Re: How to Use Lucky Mojo Magical Herbs, Roots, Seeds, Flowers Questions and Answers
You've been a wealth of information, as well as this entire forum and my stack of books... A tea or wash never even crossed my mind, but I love it! Chinese wash is coming, and I think the Boldo leaf mixed with it will be great.
I've spent every spare moment reading thread after thread of the vast knowledge available here. It's exciting and overwhelming at the same time! I don't have any urgent or specific needs (heck, we could all use more money, more blessings, more opportunities, etc.) but I'm definitely hooked! It feels familiar and comfortable to me, and combines many aspects of what I already know and love with alternative practices I haven't heard of before. My herbs were mainly used in the kitchen (with a select few for cleansing and protection) but now I'm seeing them differently and it brings me so much joy I can't even express it! I want to toss herbs everywhere and on everything! Lol. I purchased some oils and saw immediate results with crown of success, I should probably post about it in the testimonials- def good for a laugh and an undeniable example of how quick, easy and effective it proved to be.
You haven't led me astray thus far, and I do believe I would love the course. I find anything Ms. Cat has written like a knock on the head with a 2x4 (in the best way possible!)... Such an insane amount of research and organization. Simply stunning. If the web pages serve as any indication, I wouldn't be disappointed.
I've already recommended my friends carry most of the books I've purchased from Lucky Mojo in their own store. The next logical step is to keep learning and help them to begin making this information and LM products available to a larger population with a need.
Thanks and I'll see you around the forum!

Re: How to Use Lucky Mojo Magical Herbs, Roots, Seeds, Flowers Questions and Answers
Hello,
Is there somewhere on here where I can find a list of the edible herbs LM sells? I read some descriptions on a few of the herbs while I was trying to shop/browse through them but I don't see details that say whether they can or can't be ingested.
I'm planning on making red velvet cupcakes for my target. My ultimate goal is for us to reconcile and date once again. I have a honey jar in place for that currently. The cupcakes I can't decide if I'd like something to nudge that goal along or something more along the lines of passion/lust...
My concern with leaning towards making them all lusty and stuff is that I'll be with him for three days, since I doubt they will take immediate affect, I worry when they do begin to affect him he'll just decide to go elsewhere to "relieve" himself since we live in different cities.
Any suggestions? Tips? Thank you very much!

Wow. I'm honored that you were the one to reply to me! Thank you for taking the time. I apologize for sounding so negative. I just didn't think it was possible for it to be effective right away. I will buy a copy of the book & I will pour my intention/desires into the cupcakes. Thank you!!

Re: How to Use Lucky Mojo Magical Herbs, Roots, Seeds, Flowers Questions and Answers
Hi,
Sorry I have a few quick question..
1. When I'm making cupcakes for my target is it possible to grind the herbs I'm going to use together the day before I make the actual batch of cupcakes and then just put them in when I make the batter the following day?
2. Would I state my intent for each herb just as I would if I was putting it directly into the batter?
3. Lastly, I'm thinking of putting either some oils or powders on the cupcake liners.. Which do you think would be best? I haven't worked with the powders before so I don't know if they are clumpy or finely ground out.
Thank you!

2. Would I state my intent for each herb just as I would if I was putting it directly into the batter? -YES!
3. Lastly, I'm thinking of putting either some oils or powders on the cupcake liners.. Which do you think would be best? I haven't worked with the powders before so I don't know if they are clumpy or finely ground out. -I wouldn't do that. They will bake and burn

Re: How to Use Lucky Mojo Magical Herbs, Roots, Seeds, Flowers Questions and Answers
I just thought of something! Is this possible.....
Can I buy bottles of his favorite sweet tea brand... Pour them into a container along with some "love" herbs.. I wouldn't have it to where the herbs are floating around, they'd be in an infusion container like for when you create detox water.. Then after infusing them for like two days, pour the tea into a bottle and let him drink it...
I'm still going to do the cupcakes but I think I'm going to do the small bite sized cupcakes and maybe some cake pops as well since they are bite sized.. If I do the big cupcakes there's a chance he won't eat all of it since he isn't big on sweets but if I do bite sized he can munch on them throughout the day, especially since it's his favorite flavor... I even found small cupcake liners with witches hats on them!
I'm hoping it's that time of the month around the time i make the cupcakes since it'll blend well into the cupcakes I'm making..
Thank you
