This story is not unique. This is not love, but addiction. Your friend learned a valuable lesson, hello. There is a section on too much spell work where this post fits, so I will move this thread there.
Thanks for posting this.

Wow this is a GREAT example for people that are willing to go to any lengths to get a man, and thats why its is important to get a reading done like you said. Thanks for sharing this seriously.
Thank u St. Martha for everything you have done on my behalf.

Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
Hi there,
when are you working too many things at once?
right now I am working about three things-- one for healing a pet, one for a relationship, and general protection.
I would love some fast luck and to ask St. Expedite for help getting support for a project coming up in the next few weeks-- would that be overkill?
I'm also trying to finish a writing project in the next few days but am working at home on that (burned a petition candle a few weeks ago and hope the energies are still working it).
THANKS!

Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
There's really not a limit to how much spellwork one person can do as it's really an individual call. If you feel like you're not spreading yourself too thin and you're able to properly focus and devote your energy to multiple spells, do as much as you want.
High praise to Saint Michael for his protection and guidance

Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
I AM working on all of these things in my "real" life so I guess doing magic on them shouldn't be any more scattering than not.
I know wiccans discourage it, but this is rootwork. I like to set petition candles at LM-- the project coming up is related in some ways to the relationship, not in others--it's really more career oriented. The relationship is more ongoing.
Love the idea that spells may work when approached from different angles... makes so much sense.
will definitely search, thanks!

Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
It really is dependent on the individual. Some people prefer to work on only one project at a time while others can have multiple going on. The trick is to time things properly. Work according to the raising and falling of the clock, work according to the days of the week, the phases of the moon. Spreading out your work in such a way helps you manage your focus, intent, and power. As you develop more in conjure you'll be able to accomplish more and more, doing more projects at a time as your power grows as well as the help you get from the relationships you've built with spirits, saints, etc.

I want a specific event to happen.
Can I use more the one spell-casting method at the same time to achieve something?
Can I ask more than one Saint for help at the same time?
Thank you.

Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
I would say yes and no. It depends on what you want. I have worked several different types of spell to achieve the same goal, but I have also seen many folks combine things in ways that won't work. For instance, if you are working with two Saints that have somewhat opposite approaches, then you may run the risk of cancelling your work out. A good, non-Saint- example is burning fast luck candles for a romance on top of a honey jar. Honey jars are notoriously slow and thorough workings whereas fast luck is just the opposite, it brings you luck in a hurry but the results tend to be more fleeting. Those two approaches tend to conflict with one another enough that I would choose one or the other.skyme714 wrote:I want a specific event to happen, can I ask more than 1 Saint for help at the same time? how about domination on a honey jar? It makes sense to me as you are attempting to dominate the person to return to you but withpositive sentiment ... not intranquility but perhaps saint martha, as her results might be long lasting?

Like, would it make sense to burn a candle to protect your job on a honey jar to sweeten your co-workers?

Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
I like Bri's answer. It makes sense. Like Ive said before, and I will say it again. More is not always more in hoodoo. What is important is that whatever methods you use, they address the problem. Overduing it and adding 5 saints to help you is not going to make things happen any faster. However, if you work with 1 or 2 saints and build a strong relationship with them, then they are more likely to work with you and help your petition come to light. Personally I do not like working Saint expedite for things like break up work, or reconcilation work. Those types of things take time, and you do not want them to happen so quick sometimes. Why? In break up work, well if it happens quick (as this happened to me recently for work I was doing in a personal manner) the couple broke up quickly through the means of a break up bottle. They literally broke up in 3 days. However, they did not stay this way, and funny thing is the break up only lasted 3 weeks. Frustrating I know. Now imagine adding St. Expedite to the mix. But if you give the break up time to sort of manifest and it be constant bickering and fighting, and then a huge big blow up! Then the results last longer (this has happened to me do with break up work I did for an ex). With reconciliation work, same thing you want it to be lasting.
I think it is okay to work more than one method on the same goal as long as each method is adding to the overall goal, and is not working against. I just saw an example on here to sweeten a landlord ,and then to hot foot them. Thats conflicting, and is not communicating your intentions clearly to the universe. Another example is doing clear and cut work, but doing break up work to break up the person from their ex. I feel like that is working against the clear and cut because that person has not let go of their emotions for this person, and is so emotional that they care enough to even do break up work.
So basically yes, to the question as long as the method is adding to the work such as hitting them mentally with a skull candle, and physically with a moving spell, or emotionally with a sweet jar.
@ IB magnet..yes you can use domination on a honey jar. You can sweeten the person to bend to you will. Honey jar for the co-workers should be worked to sweeten the boss to keep you there enough that he will not want to get rid of you. I would work some boss fix products on that candle if that were the issue.

Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
I was wondering if I could have some advice on this.
I am doing the Intranquil Spell on someone I love deeply and I hope that we can get back together.
However....there is this other person that I find myself attracted to, but it's only a person I met via a social network site and I don't really know him, we just write to each other every day.
Now, what I wanted to know was, although he has made some romantic overtures, and I have responded with some encouragement, I don't really consider this second person in a relationship with me, but I believe there might be some potential. All I really want to do with this second person is get him to open up to me more, encourage more communication from his heart because I sense he is not telling me everything, or holding back. I just want to know the truth, and friendship with this person is OK if it cannot be more than that. I am not seeking a 'make him fall in love with me' type of spell, at least not at this time.
So could I work some kind of communication or road opener spell, perhaps a spell kit, to get this person to be more open with me? Would this be in any way, in conflict or detrimental with the first spell? And if you all think its OK to work on a 'communication' spell is there a spell kit that you could recommend? I really can only afford one spell kit at this time, so which would be the best?
Thanks,
A.

Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
If you are trying to reconcile with someone take a step back and reassess your intentions and desires. You say that you are deeply in love, but follow it up that you are also interested in someone else and that it has potential.
Those are two different intentions.
Who do you want? Where do you see yourself with?
This is why the reading stage is essential. Not only does it help with how to cast your spells, but also helps clarifies your mind and heart.
I don't see anything wrong with wanting someone to open up and maybe using some Road Opener, or Mercury Oil to stimulate conversation, but you should really check your thoughts and ask yourself what you really want.

Attraction and Come to Me are used to attract and draw a new love. Give them a try.
Don't work the positive love spells on the same altar at the same time as the Intranquil Spirit spell.

Nothing wrong with doing spells for different men, but the IS is heavy duty. Do you really want to do a spell that essentially makes someone's life miserable until he comes to you while you're doing another spell on someone else for a (possibly) casual dalliance?ConjureMan wrote: This is why the reading stage is essential. I agree with Conjureman about getting a reading, esp. to get guidance on moving forward with your intentions. Oh, when dealing with the IS, make sure you're doing your LM cleansing baths.

Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
I would also recommend doing some clarity work on yourself, take some time to decide what you really want. In addition to working with some of the Lucky Mojo Clarity products, I would make a list of all the positive qualities you want in a man, and see whichj of the two better fits your requirements. From there you can decide where best to direct your energies. Reconciliation work is quite difficult and involved, so although there is nothing wrong with performing the two spells at the same time, you will need to take stock of your energies. Only you know if you have the focus and energy to do both at once.
Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
To Everyone who answered my post:
Thank you for your replies. I will try to follow your suggestions and see how it goes. Just to clarify, I have consulted with a rootworker and am doing the IS spell with her guidance. If I were to get exactly what I wanted in life, in a heartbeat I would have my old lover back and live happily ever after. But life is not like that, and when the IS spell kicks in and he returns, will we be able to overcome the obstacles to a successful relationship? I am willing to put all the energy that I can muster into making that happen and I make a point to learn from my past mistakes. But he has hurt me deeply, and turned his back on me when I needed him, and, I am human and find myself attracted to another person I hardly know. At this point, I just want to know more about the second one, I want to find out if he is someone that may work out into a loving relationship. I just don't know enough about him and his situation to know if that could be the case, before I would take him as a lover and cut with the first one (if it is determined that it cannot ever work out happily with the first one)
I don't want two lovers, I am not conflicted, just practical. And I don't want to struggle forever with a situation that will never improve. Nor do I want to accept the second lover if there are certain things in his situation that I cannot abide by. For instance, if he has a lover already, I am not into taking him away from a happy existing relationship.
As things progress, I believe I will see a clear path.
Thank you Catherine for your personal words to me and I think you understand what I am trying to accomplish. A subsequent reading after the IS spell is completed should give me some additional divination on that path. And thanks again to you all.

Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
First off, I would like to say thank you to everyone on this forum for being so informative and kind.
I had the following questions..
1. Can I do multiple spells to obtain the same outcome or would it a bad combination?
2. Can I do multiple spells for different outcomes in the same time range?
3. Do I have to do a published spell or can I come up with my own wording and/or actions.. (lighting incense, candles, ect)

Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
#1 and #2 yes; #3, you can use your own wording...lighting incense and candles enhances the spells' power (I have found). But you are free to choose to use or not the various items in spell kits. I have used all items to just the candle, incense or oils.

Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
I'm taking the advice of a friend who told me to just talk to the candle and say whatever is on my mind at the time pertaining to what I want to accomplish.. Which, seeing that there are people out there actively seeking spells it made me wonder if it would be as productive?
I'm really glad that doing multiple spells for the same result won't effect it negatively. That's a huge relief.
Thanks

Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
Just don't do too much. The disadvantage of performing multiple spellwords (especially simultaneously) is that you overthink, overwork and overextend yourself. You would certainly be better off doing ONE spell WELL than cocking up six or seven of them. Only take on board what you can handle. If you can manage three, go for it. If you can only manage one, do that. If you get too stressed with multiple works on the go, you will muck it up.

Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
Hello all,
I've been working on a particular situation for several months, and think it may be time for me to take a break to allow the work to manifest.
When doing this, what should I do with my jar spells (both honey and vinegar), a doll baby, and mojo bag?
I had been burning candles several times a week on the jars, working with the doll baby on a daily basis, and kept the mojo bag on my person. Should I pack them away or work them with less frequency? If anyone else has done this (taking a break, that is), do you usually do it for a set period of time, e.g. moon cycle, or do you wait until some type of manifestation or sign occurs?
Thank you.

Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
My opinion is that honey/vinegar jar spells, dollies, and to a lesser extent, mojo hands are intended to be interacted with as long as you are doing the work. There are other, different spells that are deployed and work mostly on their own. If you stop working with these spell items, the work stops (or at least slows a good deal). Disposing of the remains would be the same as if the work were done, so I don't know how you would differentiate between the two magically (http://www.luckymojo.com/layingtricks.html). One possibility might be to extend the work by making up a packet and deploying it in a way that is appropriate to the spell type, but I can't recall having heard or read of that being done before. I hope I'm making sense; maybe someone who has paused in a job will chime in, but I haven't for the reasons above.

Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
Well not necessary take a break but released the energy by disposal helps a lot in my opinion. There is a period of time discussed here on the forum where workers may take a break during the dark of the moon (a three day period) which occurs each month with the next phase in April.

Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
When you start feeling the drain of spellwork in your every day life, it's time to take a rest, cleanse yourself and allow your energy to restore itself. The honey jar can stay out on your altar; I keep my honey jar on my marriage altar and may only work with it a few days out of the month, so I know it's fine to go right back to it when you're ready. The mojo, you can continue to wear on your person -- it will add to your personal power, not detract, so don't put it away. If you do put it away, store it in some protected place, tell it what you're doing and why and don't forget to keep up with feeding the hand on a regular basis.
The vinegar jar must be handled a little differently. If you are going to keep it around, you'll want to wrap it in a brown paper bag and store it away in a dark place. If you can keep it out of the main part of the house, all the better. Vinegar jars have chaotic energy that won't meld well with your goal of refreshing yourself.
You can also store your dolly away safely and go back to work at a later date, but it could hinder your progress. If it is a dolly for a love situation, wrap it in an article of your clothing and keep it in your dresser. You can also make the dolly a nice box home, pleasingly decorated and kept in a safe location. Again, tell the dolly you're resting and that you'll soon be back. If you know it is going to be a long time, or you worry that your absence could negate the progress you've made thus far, you can call the spirit out of the dolly and then re-baptise it later when you're ready to work again.
Good luck with your work,
Michelle

Take time to take baths, relax, and spend some time on yourself. This is the best way to let go of your anxiety and doubt so that you can let the work do its job.

Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
I have been working on the situation DAILY over the last few months to the point that it's always on my mind. It's hard to let the energy go when I'm lighting candles on my various jars 5x a week (Tues & Sat for vinegar jar; M,W,F for honey jars), praying over my vigil candles daily, talking with the doll baby before I go to sleep...
I want to put away my curios until I regain my energy. Seeing them just serves as reminders, and I believe I need to take a break to let the energy hit its mark. What's the term, set it and forget it? Just wanted to know if or how other practitioners took a break.

Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
Personally, I don't let myself get into that situation to begin with. If working daily with so many different conjures is a drain, then you know that you're overextended and can't keep up witht hat amount of work. Candles, a honey jar, a vinegar jar and a doll baby daily for months is a LOT of work. Congratulations. You've found your limit.
I'd scale back. Do you really need all this conjure? For one situation? Do you need to work it every day?
The honey jar can probably cope with being three days a week. The candle work can be done in combination with the honey jar, or you can get MISC to set lights on your behalf while you recharge. A figural candle, if you like candle work, may be more effective than working both candles and a doll baby.
When I want to work a situation, I look at what's needed, and I try to put into place one work. One. If that is possible. For example, I was in a financial crisis, the agency that controls my financial aid were screwing up and doing bad things with my paperwork, the staff were unhelpful, and I had no money to speak of. Now, I could have done a pay me now spell, a domination spell to get the staff to do what I wanted, I could have petitioned St Expedite for aid, I could have done a money drawing work. Instead, I made a honey jar for that agency. I sweetened them to my cause, but I also added some compelling elements to the jar so that they would want to go out of their way to help me. Then I burned green candles on the jar. Did it work? You bet. It didn't take away any of my energy, either.
As the saying goes; try smarter, not harder.

Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
Hi Flamethrower,
I am so happy to see your post because I feel like I am dealing with somewhat the same thing. I too was dealing with a situation where I actually was having someone work on my behalf, because I was not comfortable with Conjure as yet little did I realise that I was already doing it
I got frustrated and wanted to give up on my target (doing a love work) he would come back, then leave and I know in my heart we are to be together so I have tried to walk away but it did not feel right. I decided I was frsutrated with my worker and my mom told me about candle majic and I decided to try it on him and then I stumbled on the Lucky Mojo site and decided to try one last time and did a reading with Miss Cat, she told me that "I have the gift to practice Magic." and the reading was good any ways that was it for me, I dug in and trusted the gift which has been leading me all this time and I used what I could before my order came and he returned to me on the day my order arrived. Things were going great then after a few weeks we had a blew up I realise now what the issue was and have decided to correct the situation. I did a reading and was told to give it a last shot and to put my all in it. However, I am tired and feel I want to put away my stuff and stop working, however, that feeling is still there of not giving up. So what I have done is take baths and find fun things to do to revive you, exercise, try laughing a lot, soak up some sun/moon light and drink ginger tea, sleep and most of all meditate and pray! I find usually I bounce back quicker and stronger. Only you know whats best for you and yousr situation. Time lost cannot be regained. Doing those times of feeling tired be still and listen closely is it your flesh telling you to quit because you are not seeing the results or is it your Spirit? I serve and believe in God not sure of your belief so whatever you belive in remember Spirit speaks softly. My spirit speaks loudly only when it wants me to wake up at certain times of the night to pray
Sorry for the lenghty post but I hope this helps
Blessings on you!

Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
Sometimes taking a break is absolutely necessary. You can work it in a couple of ways. You can get a reading and try to determine if the spell work you have done is simply not working or if it is taking time to manifest. The answer may be NO or the work may just need some time. If the answer is NO I would do cut and clear and then cleanse to move on. If the answer is--its going to take some time or the jury is still out then I prefer changing my focus as opposed to putting everything all together away--so if you have been working on love drawing for 6 months without results I would put away the love drawing items and replace them with items that focus on another area of my life I would like to improve upon (like money or success). Take a series of cleansing baths, and clean your altar space as well--you might want to clean your entire living space. If you have honey jars or bottle spells that you do not want to dispose of yet, but also need to let go "dormant" you can put them in the freezer. I have a couple of honey jars that I work every year during a certain season, once the season is over they go in the freezer and are ready to use the following year--they consistently work great for me. I would follow the cleansing regimen with some work meant to increase your energy and personal power--since you are feeling drained--I like John the Conqueror root formulas for this. Healing, Cut and Clear, and KS wisdom would also be good to use. Remember certain types of magic work for some people--you may not have immediate success with your current project but you may have a real gift for another type of work.flamethrower wrote:I have been working on the situation DAILY over the last few months to the point that it's always on my mind.
Just wanted to know if or how other practitioners took a break.
good luck!

I don't want to misinterpret your words. My concern is that I may have been putting too much energy into something instead of "setting it and forgetting it". Wouldn't putting my jars in the freezer HALT or slow down the manifestation? Any time I've used the freezer in rootwork, it is to stop/freeze an influence.Bri wrote:[

Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
Obsessively working a spell when you see no signs, no movement, and no results is not the way one is supposed to do this work.
1) Accept that not all spell-work is successful in all cases all the time.
2) If you have any doubts about the possibility of success, start with a reading, and ask specific questions of your reader. I do not mean a fly-by-night "psychic" who "guarantees results," either. I mean a real reader and root doctor.
3) With or without the reader, sit down and set yourself a time limit for the work -- and stick to that time frame. Don't try to fool yourself into adding another month, and then another.
4) Never, never, never put yourself into an open-ended spell-working situation.
5) If your case does not prevail within the time-frame you set, thank the world of spirit and dispose of the work.
You can read more about this -- LOTS MORE -- at the page i wrote on Reconciliation spells (it's there because those spells are the ones most likely to become obsessive to the practititoner). The URL is

Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
Miss Cat,
Thanks for your input. I am using the services of an AIRR member, and am still within the time frame I had set for this situation.
However, I'm dealing with family issues, and my stress level is running high and sapping my energy. I'm having a hard time focusing and being positive, which is why I wanted to take a break from most spellwork except for protection and cleansing. Yes, rootwork is work, but it's difficult to focus and pray when family members are screaming at eachother in the next room.
I'm ok with putting my prosperity work on hold since my mojo needs to fed only once a week. I was more concerned about my jar spells and doll baby since these are considered long-term and/or slow-acting spells. Will the energy I've put into my work lose strength if I put these curios aside until I get other pressing issues resolved?

I understand. Slowing down the doll-baby is fine -- just wrap it up and place it in an appropriate place (depending on the condition for which you are working). The jars can be set in a hidden area (a closet shelf, for instance), and they will wait for your renewed attention. The mojo must be fed to keep it working. I would check in with the dolls at least once a month, too, and once a week if you can afford the time.

Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
This is an interesting thread, and is very applicable to everyone at some point.
I agree with all the previous posters. And at some point in your rootwork regarding a specific situation...its is almost necessary to take a break. I remember when I first started doing this stuff, and I was doing break up work/revenge work at the time. Looking back on that experience, I was doing spell after spell every single week for at least 5 months straight. I dont know what I was thinking at the time. Perhaps I was a little naive because I believed if I was not burning a candle then I wasn't "hitting" them. It wasnt until I went to an occult shop that the owner told me its like "flicking the lights on and off constantly" Its hard to let the light bulb give its energy if you are just sitting there flicking it on an off. I never got that analogy, and until one day, I literally became so frustrated I wanted NOTHING to do with magic. I felt like I was not seeing results, and at that point I felt like a fool and no longer believed this stuff was real. On top of that, I was just soo unhappy trying to bring someone back to me, and break him up from someone else. I was SOOOO obsessed with the work I truly stopped enjoying life. All my conversations with my friends who also did magic were able my situation. I was constantly checking facebook myspace whatever it was. Until I had enough, and I realized I forgot to stop LIVING. Once I started to enjoy life again, and I literally stopped doing magic for a month (boy was it hard sometimes) EVERYTHING and I do mean EVERYTHING i did HIT, and hit hard. I had been doing so many spells I dont even remember what I did, and while I can go back and laugh at it because I remember doing even one little candle... had an impact.
Humans believe somethings by visually seeing it or touching, but sometimes you cannot see what the heck is going on but things are happening. Now this is where a reading can either hurt you if you get TOO many of them in such a short amount of time because you are kinda watching the pot boil. Or thinking but my reader said this was going to happen, but they are doing the complete opposite. Sometimes things are just not always what they seem. On the other hand readings can be GREAT because they can let you know if you are on the money, if you give your spellwork enough time to manifest
Point is...do not stop living. I understand some situations are dire, but not breaking up a couple or getting someone back is not the end of the world. Most of the time things will happen in your favor, but you must give things TIME. It is necessary, and this is where a break can help. I think getting some vigil lights set at the Missionary Church is such an excellent idea. But I think taking a break is necessary at least once a month, or after you have done a major spellwork or a series of spells. I understand that many of you want keep the marathon going or doing spell after spell, but it is not going to help you to be operating at 40% of your energy. If I am feeling exhausted or I am terribly sick, I just take a least one day to recharge, and do bath or something along those lines. Otherwise, I just find myself getting so tired of rootwork to the point where I cant even think about a mojo bag or a candle. So thats why breaks are our friends

Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
I am not sure if there is an optimal time you can truly concentrate. This is why I do my stuff at night not only because most target's defenses are down, but because that is when I feel like it is easy to concentrate, and the street noise is even to minimum. Perhaps you can set things up for your spellwork, take a nap, and then start things up. Allow your self to concentrate as long as you can even if it is just for 10 minutes. Depending on the work you are doing, stress cannot be helpful along with feeling angry if you are doing love work, and so forth. You have to be in the "mood" or the state of mind when doing spellwork. So I think you are doing the right thing in taking a break from what you are doing so you can recharge and focus again.
As for the energy being lost while you take a break, I believe that taking breaks can help you...so the energy can be released. As long as you have been putting your full energy and focus into what you are doing, then it will not lose its strength. I feel like your spellwork would lose its strength if you continued on operating this way in such stressful conditions. But like someone mentioned you can always get a candle lit by the Missionary Church, or your rootworker you are working with. But you will be fine...take that break it will help more than you think.

As usual, starsinthesky7 you have provided excellent advice!!! I think everyone in a dire situation goes through what you have precisely described. I myself a few weeks ago didn't even want to hear the word hoodoo or candle. I had almost started feeling like the universe was mocking me...That's when i decided it was the time for a break...

Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
If you wanted to, you most certainly can. I just like to keep my love work separate from my break up work so when I was first starting out I would split the space in half since I did not have much space to work with. But if you can burn one thing on a different table or room if you can, and the other thing on something else. I would cleanse myself before doing the love work if you work with the break up candle first just so you are cleansed from that before you do the love work.

I'd do that break-up work in the bathroom or another room, take a salt bath, dress in clean clothes, and make sure I smoke the space with sage before I go to do the love work.

I couldnt figure where to ask this question. i think that this could benefit alot of people that read it.its just a subject that intrigues me and would like to learn more about it ... and to avoid it.
what is spell overload?
what kind of effects can this have on the target and/or the caster?
can doing spell overload alter the desired outcome?
are there any situations that could actually benefit from spell overloading?

Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
Why have you (or others who are not well-versed in the use of spiritual supplies to help yourselves) made up the idea that there *is* such a thing as "spell overload"?
Do you *want* there to be such a thing?
Why?
What advantage would it give you, as a conjure practitioner?
It sounds like fiction to me -- like a plot element in a video game or a movie.
In first person shooter magic-scenario video games, concepts like "spell overload" are created to deliberately DECREASE a shooter's "powers" in order to give their "target" a slight protection against their overwhelmingly intense spell-casting powers and make the game more exciting.
The same sort of scenario is introjected by comic book and television editors into series fiction, where the story-arc must be slowed down a bit to avoid a too-rapid wrapping up of the major themes. Ideally, as an editor, one wants all of the storylines to wrap up exactly at the point that the series is cancelled. This is difficult to accomplish, but one tool that editors use is the "power limitation" premise.
Having been a comic book professional for 26 years, i know both the value of this device, and the hackneyed "oh, well, we need something to delay the resolution" shrug of the shoulders that underlies a story editor's decision to insert the "spell overload / power overload" theme into superhero and mystery hero fiction.
Is this what you want out of life?
Think about it.
It is highly interesting to me that the idea of "spell overload" seems to come up again and again among young newbies who think that hoodoo consists only of "casting spells" -- in token whereof they call conjure practitioners and root doctors "casters," as above. Essentially "spell overload" is an urban myth of the magical wannabe community that derives from comics, television, movies, or video games. Since it has nothing to do with the practical and traditional folk magic of any culture (except for the culture of the very young and fiction-driven), it is off-topic here.

Essentially "spell overload" is an urban myth of the magical wannabe community that derives from comics, television, movies, or video games. Since it has nothing to do with the practical and traditional folk magic of any culture (except for the culture of the very young and fiction-driven), it is off-topic here.

Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
I agree, burn the Break Up candle in the bathroom, the Love Me candle in the bedroom. For cleansing between the two works, and after doing the break up work, you can use Uncrossing Bath Salts, or Thirteen Herb Bath Herbs.

Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
If I wanted to do a spell of something good and a spell of something bad can I do both at the same time? Should I do do the good spell in a different room or can they be done in the same room? Can they be done in the same room at different times schedules? Which would be best?
Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
I would do them in different rooms or at different times; some people work by moon phases to enhance the spellwork, waning moon for negative work and waxing moon for 'drawing' work...the word 'best' doesn't register in spellwork.

You can do them at the same time, and even in the same room if you wanted. Just make sure you cleanse yourself when going back and forth between works. I would keep the works in separate spaces or in separate rooms as mentioned.

Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
Hi all,
I have read and told not to overdo spell and not to obsess over it. Unfortunately, it is my nature to do thing again and again...I mean,...I can only master things with practice. Within the last six months...I believe I burn over 300 black candles on my target...I bought hundreds candles from LM...mainly the 4'' and more, D.U.M.E, destruction, damnation oil, powder.. I had planetary hours set on my computer screen and I did my spell work in hours of Mars and Saturns WHENEVER I had time and I had too much free time actually...so many days I did burn the candle on my enemy 4 times... Love to dress candle and pray...love the smell of them...
My enemy?...I don't know what happen now and I stopped worry. Not that I forgive her but realize that Karma will start working sooner or later...so I think I passed the stage of obsess over spell. I realized a month ago that every now and then when I feel an urge of cursing my enemy, it almost always hours of Mars or Saturn
I know all of you would tell me I overdid the work. I know I did. But is there any limit on that? It is hard to feel satisfy when I did something only once or even twice or trice. This is not only for revenge type of spell...but in everything actually...
I am a student...and I usually study (read, write, do exercises) for each exam at least three times before exam...and people think I'm crazy and I over-studied but I got straight A in school..
what is the penalty of overdo thing?...keep practicing since practice makes perfect. Is that applied to spell work also?
Many of LM spell kits came with only one candle to work for 7 days but the oils, powders and incenses are a lot more than we need for only one round of spell work. Can I do it again and again until I feel satisfy or deplete all materials (and my money)...
is this behavior spiritually harmful?
One day I felt, I'm done with the target and I will move on to do something else. And I feel just fine. I have confidence on my work...and if it didn't function?...well, I know it will, sooner or later but it definitely will.
Any thoughts on my crazy behavior? any suggestion welcome...thanks!

Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
I'm not saying you overdid it, but you DO need to have a reading to figure out what is going on. Also, you should take a bit of a break to give the energy a chance to manifest.
Have you done successful magical work before? If not, then you may not be gifted for the work. That could be one very easy answer to why the work is not coming through. Or your target is very protected. Or this work is simply not justified in the eyes of God. There are many reasons why it could be missing.
Also, if you're doing the same thing over and over again and it's not working, you need to change up your methods. Because there's obviously something about that one approach that is not hitting. If you are trying to break into a house for example, and keep just trying the locked front door, you're never going to get in. But if you go try one window, and then another - well, you're much more likely to find an unlocked window or be able to bust through it to get inside. But that locked door is going to remain locked, and no matter how many times you try to open it it's still going to be locked.
So - get a reading. Discuss your situation and your efforts with your rootworker, and then get advice on how to proceed forward.

Re: Too Many Spells, Spell Burn-Out, Spell Overload
I'd like to mention just two things here and hopefully they will be of assistance.
Repeating a spell like that isn't really a matter of practice, but most likely a manifestation of your doubt. You fear the spell isn't enough, your prayers weren't heard, you didn't dress the candle just right and so you repeat and repeat and repeat. This action actually can be harmful to your spellwork, in my humble opinion. The power you are raising, the energy you are directing is never let go. You simply keep it clinging to you by repeating your work. Faith in your ability would mean doing your trick, affirming your success and walking away. If your divinations proved it didn't work exactly as desired you alter your approach and go at it with the same confidence and faith as before.
The second matter is the perpetual cycle of obsession. You may not believe that you are obsessed, but rather sought perfection, but burning 300 candles on a single person is a form of obsession. You've had all this free time and you've spent it living around planetary hours and your cursing work. You could have been spending that time drawing good to yourself, living a beautifully, or just plain enjoying the day. You can claim you had free time and still had fun, but I know how planetary hours work and if you've done 4 candles on a single day on one person while you were waiting for the hours then you've spent too much time on this. Even if your enemy suffered as you wanted them, was it worth the time and money spent? In reality you caught yourself up in a cycle of vengeance...
I've always been a straight A student and know what it means to study. I'm all for studying and practicing, but at some point and time you have just accept that you either know the material or you don't. There is nothing wrong with self-improvement in conjure, but there are healthier ways to do it. My best recommendation is before you do any further work start working with a rootworker, not only to get a reading, but for some magical coaching. The members of AIRR can show you how to go about working your trick in a manner that is more helpful.
Product wise may I suggest you work with Healing products to help heal whatever hurts you've gone through and Tranquility products to bring peace to your mind.
I wish you success.
