Thank you for the reply, Miss Aida. So, if I understand correctly, as far as you know, there aren't any unlucky numbers in the Hoodoo Tradition. So, I guess you don't avoid any specific numbers because of them being considered unlucky. Only if person has a personal idea of specific number(s) being unlucky number(s); but in the Hoodoo Tradition, there are no specific numbers considered unlucky. I hope I understand this correctly.

Thank you for the reply. I read the info at the links, and didn't see much about any numbers being considered generally Unlucky.

So, to summarize what I currently understand: In the Hoodoo Tradition, there are No Numbers that are considered Unlucky.

If I'm incorrect, I hope someone knowledgeable posts a correction for me.

Just to clarify: I'm Not currently interested in the general significance of various numbers in the Hoodoo Tradition. My current interest is solely regarding what (if any) Numbers are considered Unlucky in the Hoodoo Tradition.

Like I've already posted above, it seems that in the Hoodoo Tradition, there are No Numbers that are considered Unlucky. I don't mean whether someone personally believes this or that Number to be Unlucky. That's why I make mention to the Hoodoo Tradition.

As for the numbers question, the number can have meaning based on different things in hoodoo and not related to bad or good. As Mentioned its a person thing, you wont find text that say this number is bad avoid it or this one is good. you may use the 23 pslam 23 times for 23 days for a cause that is the relationship with the number. 13 is a lucky number because its rare to see 13 ie two die make 12, 13 is not a normal to fall on a friday. 7 can relate to the days of the week, how long it took God to make everything, etc. I am not sure why you are so hell bent on finding negative meaning in numbers in hoodoo when told by Miss Aida it is not a thing. Cat, that's a great story about the 4711 perfume.

My number by birth name is 11 and my birth date number is 7. I guess that's why I'm drawn to the 7-11 Holy oil. I love that oil so much I even add it to my bottles of shampoo and body wash. A funny thing happened last year too. I ordered a few oils from Papa Newt and another woman ordered some 7-11 Holy oil from him. Somehow, the packages got mixed up and the 7-11 Holy oil came to me and she got my oils. When I mailed it back to Papa Newt, the post office messed up and sent the 7-11 Holy oil back to me! I remailed it and that finally took care of it, but I thought that was funny.

I actually came on the board tonight because I see the numbers 11:11, 9:11 and 257 constantly and I was wondering if anyone else had the same issue, but then I found Cat's delightful story. I'll have to get some of the 4711 perfume in my next order.

Sounds like 7-11 Holy oil and 4711 Cologne are a great match for you. Mix them! They will separate and you will have to shake the bottle before use, but that's cool.

Great question, HappinessRules --

There are many ideas as to why 13 is considered unlucky, but no one knows for sure. One idea is that it represents a long-ago conflict in Europe between minority lunar-calendar people who have 13 months in their year and dominant solar-calendar people who have 12 months in their year. But if that is the case, it happened so long ago that no one really documented it, and it is now just a theory.

Be that as it may, at the present time in mainstream Western folklore, the number 13 is widely thought to be unlucky. Friday the 13th is considered especially unlucky (which some say points to the origin of this concept in caledar-making). Some building owners are so concerned about the bad luck of 13 that they skip the number 13 when numbering the floors of hotels or office buildings. It is interesting, however, to note that the number 13 is not generally believed to be evil, just unlucky.

At the same time, among the same people, both Black and White, 13 is considered very lucky for those who gamble, who are anti-authoritarian, who live outside the law, and who are facing danger -- that is, 13 does not merely become neutral for them, it becomes POSITIVE or "reversed bad luck," which is actually GOOD luck.

Also, it is common practice, especially in places that show the influence of English traditions, to give a customer who orders a dozen (that is 12) items, a lucky 13th one -- like an extra 13th month in their year. This is especially common in bakeries, where if you buy 12 rolls or cookies, the 13th one is free -- and the number 13 has thus become known as the Baker's Dozen.

We have many Baker's Dozen specials in our catalogue. It amounts to a discount for bulk retail purchases, but it is easier to to calculate than a percentage discount -- you just count out 12 and then add the "lucky 13" for free!

I myself have never lived at a house with the street number 13, but if i did, i know there would be some great design themes available to decorate it!

I’ve been hesitant to change my maiden name to my married name, because I had a sense that my name was lucky. It turns out that my first and maiden name add to 11, so I was right. I need information on what my experience means. Over the last couple of years, may be more, I've been seeing doubled numbers on the clock e.g 12:12, 13:13, 14:14 and so on. Lately the frequency has increased so much so that it almost every hour especially ever since I got my triple strength three Johns and Master Jack ball. Is there anything I should be doing when I see the numbers?

If i were you, i would first do a workout on my name, birthsate, and, perhaps the current year in terms of your number-luck. The book will tell you how.

After that i would select the "found" or "seen" numbers that resonate with those numbers.

Special dates are often those with numeric repetition of symmetry.

Who here remembers the Last Odd Day -- a date in which all the numbers are odd? It was 11/19/1999. Once we entered the 2000s, we stopped having Odd Says -- and there will not be any more until 1/1/3111.

We are now in a long run of Even Days. The first was 2/2/2000 -- if you count zeros as even, which most people do. Another nice Even Day was 2/22/2022 -- it made a lot of folks feel peacefully happy.

Right now we are in 2023, so we can look for symmetry -- like 3/20/2023 [3202023].

"Astrology for Rootworkers" has shipped from the printers and will debut at the 2023 Virtual Hoodoo Heritage Festival, June 10th - 11th, as nagasiva and i continue to expand our heavily illustrated bio-bibliography honouring Prof. A. F. Seward (1877-1965). We have to have the page finished by the time the book is released to the public, and we are adding new images and text daily. This week "Your Wate and Fate" offers more photos, artwork, and text drawn from my 12 years of obsessed research into the life of the eccentric Scorpio who invented Sun-Sign Astrology! My Patrons have been funding this project, and also want to thank Faith Elliott, who found me through social media, another Seward fan, who is in correspondence with me and contributing a whole lot of biographical information as we compile this complex historical web page. This week's Patreon sneak-peek page is the first part of a set of comical numerological fortune telling cards published and machine-vended by the Mutoscope Company of Chicago, Illinois in the 1940s. Mutoscope, which began as a maker of coin-operated peep-show films, also provided pin-up and celebrity postcards which were marketed primarily in men's spaces, such as bars, pool halls, tobacconists, and liquor stores. Each Lucky Number card contains 6 digits for lottery play, a slightly risqué or misogynistic joke, and a burlesque cartoon. They sure don't make them like this any more!

AIRR Tech Team Report 8/27/2024 Sefer Yetzirah (Book of Formation)!



The AIRR Tech Team went into formation to create a new web page on Sefer Yetzirah, a Jewish book of magical instructions attributed to Abraham, but actually composed during the early Medieval period. The earliest known text of Jewish esotericism, it describes 32 paths to higher knowledge, teaches a form of meditation said to strengthen mental concentration to the point that the practitioner can develop telekinetic and telepathic powers, and prescribes signs, incantations, and divine names that can be utilized to influence or alter the course of natural events. It also lays the foundation of numerological gematria and teaches that the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet are the building blocks out of which God creates our physical and metaphysical realms. Dr. Jeremy Weiss wrote the page with contributions by Catherine Yronwode, Nagasiva Yronwode, and Papa Newt. Nagasiva sourced the graphics for the page and created this graphic announcement. I'm an occasional lottery player! But I pick numbers only on special occasions, such as holidays and my birthday!

I'd like to have a psychic reading that would help me pick lucky numbers (alongside burning a vigil candle)! That being said, I know in numerology letters of the full name can be associated with numbers. But how would an American psychic deal with the situation when their client's name has special characters. For instance, my real name has two special characters. Thank the Lord, Romanian's still a Latin language, but what about instances when folks come with Chinese Characters, Abjad or The Cyrillic Alphabet?

That is a great question. Each alphabet, including the Hebrew alphabet and the Greek alphabet, has its own numerological correspondences, and they do not always advance the number by one digit per letter. I advise you to consult local numerologists for the traditional way to assign letters to numbers in your own language and alphabet.

Thank you, Miss Cat! Interestingly enough, I've discovered reading from Romanian numerologists that the Romanian special characters (which are derived from "a" and "i") do not have numbers associated with them. Rather, practitioners simply use the standard Latin alphabet! Lucky me!

This proves how magic/divination can definitely be regional based and not easily understood on a wide level of traditions and practices.

I think that one reason numerology is so regionally variable is that math did not become a widespread subject of knowledge until national borders and languages had begun to fossilize. Words can always be transmitted orally and make the leap into writing, but there is difficulty in reconciling math systems of the world -- such as the base-20 Mayan system or the 12-based measurements of Europe (before the Europeans all drank the Kool-Aid and went 10-based metric, leaving only astrology to support the old 12-based system).

As for me, i despise the English alphabet, with its non-lowest-common-denominator 26 letters! There should be exactly 24 letters.

C should disappear into hard K and sibilant S. Also X is useless as it is nothing more than KS or Z, depending on its position in a word. I sertainly krave an eksellent zylophone.

We would get rid of Y (replaced by I) and Q (replaced by KW) -- kwikli arriving at 22 letters,

Then we would ADD two letters -- Th (as in thorn) and dh (as in this). (This is called the restoration of the soft and hard thorn letters.)

Then the 24 letters could all be assigned to signs of the zodiac.

On the other hand, we could start with the messed up 26 letters we now have and add the two thorn letters (soft thorn and hard thorn) to get to 28 letters, which is divisible by seven, for the days of the week and the seven sacred planets.

It's mentioned that numerology can give precise dates of manifestation which intrigues me!

Is this usually done by calculating the destiny number of the target (say, in a magic spell aimed at fixing someone)?

The destiny numbr (name-number) is one way. Another is to compare the life path number (birth date number) with upcoming dates. One quick way to do that is to look for resonant date-numbers -- e.g. born on 5/12/1947 (=11) ... look for resonant results on 10/10/2025 (=11). This is actually my birth date and the date of my daughter's birthday this year!)
