New to this just looking for clarity thanks

Unread post by Jcabello89 » Thu Apr 13, 2017 8:59 pm

Hi everyone I'm Julian the reason why I joined this forum is I'm trying to learn more about my family history.

I'm in my late 20's and I've never really been a big believer in religion for my adult life.

Earlier this afternoon I was having a conversation with my mother about life in general and she disclosed to me something that only two other people knew about. She started speaking about her grandma (my great-grandmother) I know very little about her the only thing I remember is my grandmother used to refer to her as "bruja" or witch in Spanish.

So she was telling me a story about how her grandmother would do tarot readings and charge people to cast good luck spells upon them. She then goes on to say that she would always keep a candle of San Ramon with a string tied around it with a coin over the saints mouth to keep people's mouth shut.

I found it very interesting but this is where I got a little skeptical.

She states that she got married when she was 19 out of spite for her mother but that her father (my grandpa) and his mother (great-grandma) hated that man. My mom was married to him for ten years and throughout the marriage she remained a virgin.

So I'm in total disbelief and she continues on to say that for those whole ten years she never had her period.

By the way I like to think of my mom as a rational person so I'm in shock with what she is saying but also extremely fascinated. She continues that they hired a healer to come and help her but the healer would not go near her due to her being cursed.

So after ten years of marriage she divorces and meets my father boom!! Her period comes back, she has sex, and I'm in the process of existence.

I guess what I'm asking is is all this really possible?

I'm so intrigued and fascinated and I apologize if I seem like I'm way over my head but if power of spirits do exist, my whole outlook on life would be so different.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Julian, I hope this finds you well.

How exciting to be learning more about your heritage and ancestors! it definitely gets you thinking huh?
Of course many of us on this forum will be biased, but your question really does boil down to whether you trust your mum and it would be back to her that id go too and ask her if it was true, could she tell you any more etc?

Trust issues aside, Miss Cat has written quite a bit about something called the 'evil eye'; just type into google 'lucky mojo evil eye' and you should find the page. In that page the history, transmission, diagnosing and curing of it are dealt with. Miss Cat also has written on the drying up effect of the curse, and how mothers and grandmothers in particular can often pose a problem. So id check that page out :)

As for the brujeria, this forum is dedicated to African american folk magic so it will serve you best as comparison to how things are done by root workers as apposed to the folk practices of Spain, mexico etc.

My personal belief is that yes spirits exist, and can influence our world in very real tangible ways, and you can form relationships with many spirits to help you out whether that's catholic saints, or John the conquer root. I've seen curings, killings and lottery winnings so I personally don't see why mum should be lying about your grandmother-again that's one for you.

Best of luck :)

Hello Jcabello89,

Welcome to the forum and to the Lucky Mojo family!

That's a very interesting story about your mom, and I think A_Booker95 gave you some great advice about it. Here is the page they referenced about the Evil Eye, in case you wanted to read up on it:

http://www.luckymojo.com/evileye.html

I am posting the most popular threads and some forum rules for you to look over.
And we are looking forward to seeing you on the forum.
If you have further questions, please find the forum thread that's most relevant to your question and ask there. If you're unsure which thread is the right one, you can search for a keyword in the search box in the top right corner of every page.
If you ever have any questions, we are ALWAYS here for you.
Enjoy!!

Here is some info on how the forums are set up. It is divided into four parts:

1) News and Announcements about the Lucky Mojo Curio Company and this site.

2) Lucky Mojo Spiritual Supplies and how to use them, listed in threads by product type and product title.

3) Life Conditions and Situations, with recommended Lucky Mojo products, spells, and advice.

4) The Online Hoodoo Community, including sites, events, and outreach sponsored by Lucky Mojo.

When you post, it helps your moderators, who are recompensed volunteers, if you post in the area of the board that is best suited to the archival of your question or comment. That way moderators will not have to move your post or merge it into ongoing threads.

If you can't find a post you made, it may have been moved or merged. Go to your profile by clicking on your name and "search recent posts" -- you will find it.

Within each board section there are STICKY threads -- ones that always stay "stuck" to the top. These are popular discussion-threads that you can read and add to if your questions or comments fall into one of these oft-broached topics. If you don't see a "sticky" that relates to your question, feel free to start a new thread in the relevant section.

We do have a few "thou shalt not" rules here, and they can be found in the Forum Rules link at the top of each page. Most important for newbies are these four common errors to avoid:

1) Please do not come here asking for our formulas for conjure oils or for instructions on how to use spiritual supplies that you bought at a grocery store or at a competitor of ours; this is the Lucky Mojo Forum and is financially supported by the Lucky Mojo Curio Co.

2) Please do not spam the moderators by sending multiple duplicated private messages asking for personal help outside the board; many of our moderators do perform readings and rootwork spell-casting for clients, but they are professionals and you should approach them as you would any other professional.

3) Please do not post illegal copies of material from other web sites or from books.

4) Please do not post put-downs of any group of people based on their religion, race, or national origin, including derogatory comments

5) Please do not start new topics

6) Please do not quote people
