Re: TECH HELP NEEDED: Assistance with Forum Use
Hi Folks,
Nope, no problems; as far as I can see things are working fine...
What I have noticed, as I stroll through this awesome library is a lack. Specifically, a standard way of linking to relevant information. For example, there is the thread "Block Buster Oil Questions and Answers". Maybe the first post (as a sticky) could be a list of links to the relevant products and information pages about the blockbuster product line over in the LM shop.
It may help people who are browsing/studying/surfing to get more info (and buy more stuff
)
Obviously this is slave *cough* grad student/summer intern work...

Re: TECH HELP NEEDED: Assistance with Forum Use
Every thread does contain a link to one or more product pages, but if we (owners of the shop) did not start the threads, we cannot go into the first post and insert such a link. I mean, TECHNICALLY we could, but it seems wrong from a historical perspective. Just scroll down and look for an image of the product. The link will be there. On long threads with multiple pages, there may be an image and an add-to-cart button every 60 posts or so (there are 60 posts per page).
Thanks for checking us out.

Re: TECH HELP NEEDED: Assistance with Forum Use
Me again. (sorry)
Apparently I'm having a problem sending a PM. The person I'm replying to *can* get PMs according to their profile yet the message never leaves the outbox.
I *did* try sending a test message to myself (I left it in the Inbox) and that seems to have gone through, but without diving into the pHpBB code I'm not sure what shortcuts were taken to allow that.
And since I haven't had a chance to establish relationships here I'm not going to randomly start sending PMs to people while I debug.
Obviously site admins feel free to open up my account - the message is sitting there in the outbox.
Thank you,

Re: TECH HELP NEEDED: Assistance with Forum Use
The board search function seems to not be bringing up results older than a certain date. I get partial results in the main search or the "search these results/this topic" feature if they're new enough, but if there have been no posts containing the search term in a few months, no results show even though there are definitely hundreds of posts.
Thank you!
Thank you!

Re: TECH HELP NEEDED: Assistance with Forum Use
Due to many problems of private messaging including:
* People soliciting forum members for paid readings and/or spellwork
* People seeking free magical coaching from Moderators
* People harassing Moderators
the Private messaging service has been removed.
This has been a decision long in the making, not undertaken lightly, but obviously necessary. Folks who know one another can use any of the public social media messaging services -- and many other public forums on a variety of topics no longer provide private messaging services, for the same reasons we have discontinued ours, namely because forum messaging has increasingly become a way for strangers to intrude themselves into peoples' lives.

Re: TECH HELP NEEDED: Assistance with Forum Use
Hi Cat, Can you email other registered people here? I don't know how. I don't know anything about the forums except how to post, and how to look up general topics. Sorry for the ignorance, or if I'm asking in the wrong place. Anything you say is very much appreciated. I love LM, I Found it a little less than a year ago, and I loved every parcel I recieved, and answer I've gotten here, and all I have learned by the generous amount of education you give out on your main site and forum, and would not want to be disrespectful! I never used PM but that is such a shame what happened. I'm sorry but I am new here, I do post things on a more regular basis now, but I find you learn rules here by being active. So, if I asked about how to email someone in the wrong place, I can learn it was not correct, and know and not make the same mistake. Then, I'll know the correct place to ask! Anyhow, Thanks.

Re: TECH HELP NEEDED: Assistance with Forum Use
I just sent an email to the administrator about PM's and avatars, and I just wanted to say "Sorry!" and please ignore the PM part!
When I joined the forums, I receive a notification that I had a PM from nagasiva kindly welcoming me, but when I went to click on it, nothing happened. Now, I'm thinking that's probably just a nice automated message, but understand that the error's happening because you had to disable the feature.
Thank you, and please ignore me!

Re: TECH HELP NEEDED: Assistance with Forum Use
Thanks for mentioning this. Yes, we had to disable the PM system due to widespread abuse from scamming con-artists joining the forum and then sending messages to people in distress, promising to cure them of diseases or bring their lovers back in 24 hours. Because the PM system was private (as advertised) we could not see this happening until people began complaining, and when they did, we shut it down.
However, I do wonder what happened to the auto-welcome message you should have gotten from nagasiva! We recently upgraded the forum software and a few modifications we had made to the basic application went missing. I will get with nagasiva and we will make some test-joins and see what happens. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We are always grateful for feedback on the site's functionality.

Re: TECH HELP NEEDED: Assistance with Forum Use
FiachnaRose,
The auto-response message that you pointed out is definitely a bug because it is a hold-over from previous versions we had in which the PM system was activated. We are working on this.
In the meantime, there is the FAQ,and we have re-instituted the "Rules" page which got dropped out in the upgrade -- and it does function as an introduction to the Forum.
I noticed that you specified a remote location for your avatar. You seem to be tech-savvy, and, if that is the case, it would be appreciated if you insert that photo in the frame for your ranking badge. (You are a Forum Member). Normally it is not my plan to ask members to tend to their own images in this way, but we are still working through thousands of members, checking on their rankings, avatars and badges, and we can use any help given. If this is not within your wheelhouse, just let me know and it will be fixed when we get to it.
Thanks.

Re: TECH HELP NEEDED: Assistance with Forum Use
I am wondering if technology issues have been happening with lucky mojo ? I had called on Wed but literally the phone was awful. I wanted to view a booking but it shows an error page and that it had been canceled . I didn't cancel the booking. I'm not upset or anything, but I'm confused. Is it Mercury retrograde or something?

This thread is for technical help needed on the Lucky Mojo forum, not for difficulty contacting the shop itself. I believe your questions have been resolved where you inquired elsewhere on the forum.

Ok, I've tried the search bar as well as did a scan through the last few months of active posts, but am having no luck. Wasn't there a thread asking for suggestions/ideas/wishes for the Free Spell of the Week project? And can someone point my less than tech savvy self in the direction of it? Thank you!

"the search bar" - Try this and see if it is different than you tried before:
search.php
It is available at the top-right gear icon on every page. Mouse-over: "Advanced Search".

Hello
Can someone please tell me how to get my drafts back after I save them. I looked on the FAQ page and didn't see the link to learn.
I want to reply to cat but I don't want to keep typing over and over again the same thing.
Please help
It's probably something simple (a common sense thing) but, help please.
Patricia

Hi, Patricia,
I am not sure what you mean by "get my drafts back after I save them."
1) Drafts of what?
2) If you save them, they should reside somewhere on the hard drive of your computer.
3) If you use a phone, i don't have an answer for you.
4) To reply to my post, just do what you did above -- type into the "Reply" box. You can also copy/paste prewritten (saved) text from your computer into the "Reply" box.
5) To save posts you made here, use can copy/paste the ttext into your own computer.
Because i don't know what operating system you are using, i cannot give you the exact directions, but all computers systems, including phones, tablets, laptops, and desktops have some copy/paste functionality.
Sorry i could not be of more help.

Oh boy,
It's not my system I'm talking about it's this one.
When I type into the Quick Reply box and click on the Preview & Full Editor button, there is an option to save draft that is what I'm talking about.
I'll do it now ... there is a Load draft button, a save draft button (that's the one I'm talking about). So, I signed out and came back to the Subject I saved a draft on and I can't find it.
Is that a better description?
I'm well read on many systems just not this one... oh there are others too but, just saying.

Re: TECH HELP NEEDED: Assistance with Forum Use
Patricia, now i see what you mean. Thanks for the further explanation.
Frankly, i have no idea how the "Save Draft" funtion works -- or if it een does! I have never used it, and i have been on this forum since 2008. LOL.
What i do is copy/pste anything i want to save to my own hard drive and hit "Submit" -- or, if i forget to do that, i just hit "Submit" and then copy/save the published text to a file in my hard drive.
I hope this helps.
I just realized that this is not about the original topic (how HRCC graduates can join Hoodoo Psychics), so i am going to split it and add it into the Forum Functionality sub-forum.

cat
I found out by exploring this system the following about drafts.
Saved drafts are found in the User Control Panel under the Manage Drafts tab.
I found both of the drafts I was looking for.
No worries

starmagicgirl ,
The forum does not let you respond to a specific post with that post showing up as a copied-and-pasted quote. This was changed this years ago because the cut-and-paste sections take up space. You can simply state, "I am asking a question regarding the post from (name) on (date). You can also make your own copy-and-paste quote of the section you are responding to or asking about, but please limit the copying to a few lines at most.
Hope this helps!
