Are there shorter rituals to St Expedite than the 7 days one?

Also, if you have little privacy and space are there any solutions like for example mountung and dismounting the altar, mounting it for some time each day, etc? And other solution for the offerings? thank you

The Saint Expedite page here at Lucky Mojo https://www.luckymojo.com/saintexpedite.html says, near the bottom, “Recite the prayer once a day for as long as the candle burns (usually several days)” and I have found that the so-called 7-day vigil lights often only burn for 5 days. Also have you read this entire thread? Perhaps there is a shorter ritual herein.

If you read this thread about altars altars-questions-and-answers-t124.html you will find some information about portable altars for those who have little privacy. And while I would not stray too far from the traditional offerings, the answers you seek about them are also in this thread about Saint Expedite.

Hello Everyone,

I hope I am asking this in the correct spot. I have a candle lit to St Expedite. Water, candle coins, etc, but I just noticed that the water is now tinted blue? I changed it yesterday and the candle is burning perfectly fine, but i cant find a search on why the water is a different color? Nothing got near the altar? Is this a thing? Good or bad?

I am here again to give great thanks to the never-failing prayer of St Expedite. Answered the prayer within a day. Petition him when in need of something urgent, if you can wait till Wednesday, dress a red candle with St Expedite oil. Make a triangle on the alter, glass of water front left, candle back center, and photo or statue front right. After he answers your prayer reward him with poundcake, red roses and publishing his name. Blessings be!

Hello, I am thinking of having the MISC burn a few candles for me, I was wondering if it is possible to burn a Return to me, Reconciliation and St Expedite candle at the same time? Can the St expedite candle be used for return of love in conjunction with these 2 other candles and will it increase the results quicker?

Yes, you could burn that combination of candles. There is no guarantee of results, so we can't predict speed or the final outcome. Just set your lights and trust in your success.

1. If you are having someone light a St Expedite candle for you will I still need to thank him once he’s come through? And if so how will I do this if I am not the one lighting the candle?

2. Why does St Expedite need to be lit on a Wednesday and what happens if the candle is not lit on a Wednesday?

1. Yes, you would. Offer him a slice of pound cake and a cup of coffee or some red flowers.

2. Wednesday is traditional for Saint Expedite as he is associated with communication, which in the classical system is symbolized by Mercury, the planetary ruler of Wednesday.

1) On a table, bureau top, nightstand, window sill, empty book shelf, or other flat indoor surface, or outdoors.

2) Depends on your beliefs. Some people are more strict about traditions than others. If you have a candle set in our church, you can specify the exact day it is to be lit.

Saint Expedite, thank you for your quick response and help in getting the apartment that I wanted! St. Expedite is an amazing saint! I petitioned him for my friend who was in dire need of assistant in getting a new job. Had several interviews, all rejected, one left her hanging saying they would contact her in two weeks as they had others they wanted to interview (told this to her two days ago). I had a red alter candle I dressed with Lucky Mojo's St. Expedite oil. The candle did not even burn out and the job called her back and offered her the job on the spot! If you are creating a new petition, then I would start the work completely over. If he does give you what you asked for (currently) even if starting over, you would pay him, if he did not then you do not pay. He is a wonderful saint one of my favorites!

To honor him, which is done without a request, give him his normal gifts of service and anything else you feel draw to do. Dress an alter in red, set a read votive candle or a Lucky Mojo St Expedite candle dressed with St. Expedite oil. Set red roses, the candle, and a glass of water in a triangle. Place pound cake in the center. Pray to thank him for his help and support during the year.

I find my relationship with Saint Expedite a little strange, since I have been in contact with him since I was little, but now when I leave Catholicism and decide to enter Hoodoo as a practice, he "denies himself" or avoids answer my petitions, I even had a little keychain of his that I put in my keys, I found it recently and his little keychain burst and broke in my hand right away! In addition to me getting a medal from him, which ended up disappearing on the street, in addition to an urgent situation about a school project, but, besides not answering me, when I looked for an image of him (which was the payment for the help) I couldn't find it anywhere. Being that the next week, I found the hidden image at a shop

Definitely, Saint Expedite doesn't want to work with me.

One does not need to leave their religion to practice Hoodoo, many practitioners are religious, with many being Protestant and Catholic. I am Protestant and have a wonderful working relationship with him. He may not be willing to work with you and you can get a reading to determine why.

IT is possible the offering is not which he desires, it is custom to give him red flowers, water and a red candle, with pound cake as a reward for answering your prayer.

I do know about this part, I am from another religion, no longer Catholic, although I still have this strong cult to the saints through Hoodoo. As for Saint Expedite, I will see a fortune teller about it, it is really something curious, no matter what petition I make, I am promptly ignored.

In Facebook, it was posted that

"There are forum people who have posted that St Expedite will kill someone close to you if you do not pay him his due if he grants your wish. This is absolute, unadulterated BULL [... and a] disrespectful, NON HOODOO lie. Additionally, it a slap across the face of a beloved and generous entity [and] I think it borders on blasphemy when people feel threatened that when they don't do what a Saint wants, that he/she will murder. They wouldn't be a Saint (even though not canonized). To be terrorized by the threats of a Saint is contradictory."

I am on friendly terms with the person who wrote this, and have no intention of calling anyone out, but the topic is worth considering, as Facebook has such great distribution. There are two parts to the issue:

1) Is it an authentic hoodoo belief that Saint Expedite will exact vengeance if you are an oath-breaker and do not pay him the offering you promised?

Read about how Saint Expedite will kill someone out of your house if you don’t pay him, in the interviews that Harry Hyattt conducted with African American hoodoo practitioners in New Orleans in the 1930s and 1940.

Folklore and folk magic contain many interesting and not always pleasant beliefs. As an outsider to Catholicism, i was surprised to read this in Hyatt’s collection of interviews, but then not so surprised when i heard the exact same thing in New Orleans in the 1970s.

It is not “un-hoodoo” at all. Black hoodoo practitioners in New Orleans, who have venerated Saint Expedite for centuries, clearly describe this belief. You may dislike it, but it actually is hoodoo. It is a fact that people believe this and that they teach the belief within the black hoodoo community in Louisiana.

2) Is it "a slap in the face" to a saint and does it "border on blasphemy" to a saint to speak of the saint possibly killing the loved one or pet of an oath-breaker?

As a folklorist, i will note that beliefs about various saints (and deities) exacting vengeance for false promises are also found in other regions of the world, as are practices that involve torturing statues of various saints and of the baby Jesus to force their compliance in granting requests.

Generally speaking, folk religions that appear on the surface to be governed by the hierarchical rules of conduct issued from a central clerical authority, tend to also contain elements of earlier tribal religions and to offer numerous regional variations in both belief and practice.

In this case, the belief is simply a warning — and also very likely a sign that the Catholic Saint Expedite was long ago syncretized with an African deity who demanded complete honesty and respect for oath-taking as part of his veneration.

As for Saint Expedite committing murder, allow me to quote from my own post on page 1 of this thread:

"There is a spell mentioned by Doctor Caffrey to Harry Hyatt in which a picture of Saint Expedite is upside down -- for a death spell, not for luck. It is accomplished by using a 3-pinned candle, a print or holy card of the saint, gunpowder, and a nickel. Turning a picture upside-down is a common way to kill someone in hoodoo. There is a dead crow on Saint Expedite's picture, and the crow is a death-omen bird; furthermore, Saint Expedite carries a sign that reads "hodie," which means "today." The use of explosive gunpowder, the three pins in the candle, the upside down image of the saint, the upside down nickel, the command (given by the informant as, "George, I command you to go. I command you to die.") and the involvement of Saint Expedite for quickness results in a spell that, when you set off the gunpowder, blows up the Saint Expedite picture, sends the nickel shooting off into the air, and is intended to cause the immediate death of the enemy, as if by a shot."

Doctor Caffrey was an African American hoodoo rootworker who performed spells professionally for clients during the 1930s.

Wax divination is something you should do while a candle burns to give you a sign to the work. You can learn about this art in the book by Miss Cat, The Art of Hoodoo Candle Magic.

With St. Expedite you pay him after he deliverers the goods, meaning he answers your prayer.

Yeah irs burning now.. with what I know from divination flame bright and strong only thing is the wax on the glass the rings or time bands and dint know u give after I told him in my prayer I will offer him red wine the full poundcake once he delivers rather than just giving 3 slice and water.

Iv gave him a date to deliver by so will wait till then but wanted to just know is one vigil enough or do I burn another

I was recently told that if I invoke him often I will need to build him a permanent altar (which I can’t do right now). How true is this?

I have not seen it anywhere & i thought he loved being invoked. Thanks in advance.
