Is it ok to work with multiple deities within the same religion? For example, if you're a hoodoo worker, is it ok to work with one hoodoo spirit for love and then another for separation since they're both in the same religion? Thanks

Hello musclequeen378,

You have already asked this question before and received a response from Miss cat, which you will find here:
post404307.html?hilit=musclequeen378#p404307

Please refer to that answer, and do not re-post the same question as this is against forum rules.

Good luck.

No it's not the same question. I was asking about Hecate. This one is regarding 2 spirits within the same religion.

Hello once more my Lucky Mojo family :)

I haven't been on in a while, and so, I have a few questions. They concern "Verbal petitions". My logic for posting it here is in my assumption that when one does a verbal petition, they must name who they're talking to, and in this, discern the right entity to whom the petition should be sent. So, I'll ask generally. But before that:

I always thought a verbal petition and a prayer were the same thing; however, listening to the LMC HRH I learned from miss cat that there is a defining difference between the two, though she didn't quite go into what that was, I performed a forum search for a succinct answer and couldn't find one.

-----

1) What is the difference between a prayer and a verbal petition?

1a] Is the former defaulted to Spirit and the latter to a particular entity, like an angel, saint or ancestor -- whichever one should be named as best to your aims?

-----

2) How would I go about starting a verbal petition as different from a regular prayer? (Do I simply call an entity's name three times and speak the desires of my heart to them)?

2a] Can unknown ancestors be petitioned, if done wisely and qualified by saying "all those of good name and rapport who are willing to help?" thrice.

2b] Though unwise, would saying simply "any" *ancestor* that's willing to help (thrice) work just as fine if for some reason one is desperate enough to not care while they fear they're in an inescapable spiritual emergency and doesn't have time or means for a road opener, block-buster, or a reading?

2c] How do you know which would be best for you to call on, again: angel, saint, demon, imp, Satan, Jesus, or ancestor--is it strictly case-dependent, or are these means of verbal petition universal in their application?

2d] How do I close out the petition after having called on an agent for assistance -- is it a simple Amen and a Thank you for "It is already done in Jesus' name?"

2e] And would the "In Jesus' name" part be insulting if you've just petitioned the devil and his imps unjustly and in a mean-spirited and petty way (I know it seems as though the answer may be obvious, but some things in hoodoo are counter-intuitive I've found.) My guess is if it's unjust, Jesus would have nothing to do with it, so it'll be a waste of breath (and this is probably an amateur thing to say but: I'm thinking that sort of cross-over can halt your petition altogether) but I've been wrong before--again, if it's unjust and you know it.

-----

3) I would love to stay paper-free when doing these petitions, so I hope there are some verbal petitions that don't have to be followed up with burning pages or writings or scattering something at a crossroad.

-----

4) If I do not know the best spirit to petition for my aims, would something along the lines of "I petition you oh spirits of God and Light, of God and Light, of God and Light, to hear my earnest plea gathered together with my supplication... etc, etc..." work?

4a] This will be stored in spiritual arsenal, and yes, I know it would be unwise to do what I'm about to mention, but in the event it is needed for some reason, I would like to know -- because I heard ConjureMan Ali state that he was taught by an older lady that rootwork relies generally on four powers: God, Ancestors, the Roots themselves, and Satan (to chase away enemies) -- if I wanted to call on a demon, imp, or a malevolent spirit that walks the earth or hell and did not know or care to know its name, would calling on them (thrice) similarly to my example above in this way "any" *discarnate hell-bent power* (however unwise) be efficacious in the line of verbal petitions?

And my last couple of confirmatory questions:

-----

5) Would an immediate playing card yes/no divination after I've released my petition tell me if my prayer was heard and if the work will be begun by an agent of Satan, God, or His angels? -- Or would that be too soon in that it could be construed as a reflection of doubt and potential irritatant to whatever spirit showed up that was willing to help?

5a] How long should I wait before casting a divination to check the status of the works of Spirit?

Hello, landsgenesis2

-----

1) The differences between petitions and prayers are those of gradation, not either/or. One can make a petition to the court, for instance, but one does not pray to the judge as to a deity. Furthermore not all prayers are petitions, because a petition asks for a favour, while a prayer may be, for instance a prayer of praise to a deity. Where the two overlap, we have petition-prayers. Please read about the several kinds of prayers and petitions in my books "The Art of Hoodoo Candle Magic" and "Paper In My Shoe."

1a] No.There is no "default" mode to either a prayer or a petition -- both prayer and petition (as well as petition-prayers) are intentional activities engaged in by choice, among people whose cultural backgrounds and learned practices vary greatly.

-----

2) Again, a petition is always a request. You start by naming the entity, then you make your request. A prayer need not be a request. There are absolutely no requirements for any number of repetitions of names or any other statements.

2a] Yes, but your idea of saying it thrice is unique to you. I was never taught any such numbering. For me and mine, once is normative.

2b] You called it "unwise," so you already have an opinion. I still don't get the "thrice" thing -- not my way of working --and i would establish relationships with ancestors long before need.

2c] That's what this thread is about -- how do you choose? Read the thread for many replies to that question.

2d] The closing would be according to your own culture and religious traditions.

2e] Again, the closing would be according to your own culture and religious traditions. In this case, i have heard some Christians say that "even the Devil serves the Lord," but that is a regional, cultural belief. If you believe it and were taught it, then it will feel natural to you.

-----

3) Nowhere is it considered a rule that a paper must be burned and the ashes scattered. Again, read my book, "Paper In My Shoe" for many more ways to deal with papers, including carrying then, placing them in a Bible for safekeeping, dissolving them in a bath, dissolving them in water and drinking/eating them, and so forth. See also the thread here on peition techniques.

-----

4) Sure.

4a] You are fancifying it with the verbiage ad the triple re[etition, but, yes, calling upon "The Devil and all his Imps" (which was how i was taught it) is a traditional way to frame a curse.

-----

5) I think that is obsessive. Just do the work and trust in it.

5a] There is no time-rule. Ask when you feel moved to ask -- a few days, a week, whatever seems right to you.

Good luck..

I've been working with St. Anthony and St. Jude to bring about my target back in my arms physically, emotionally, spiritually and mentally. I saw him yesterday by chance and gave him a blow job...but it wasn't what I've been praying for. However, I'm not sure if that's what the saints have given me, I'm not done with the novenas yet, and I thanked them through prayer but I'm not sure if I should be making my donations in their name now or after I'm finished burning the candles, and not sure if that's what they've given me and what I've been praying for for an extensive day together with those things that I stated is not going to come about, or if it IS going to come about and that's just a bonus that I got...how do you think I should handle my thanks and should I expect more since it's not exactly what I was looking for and we were definatley not in each others arms so to speak...I don't want to offend either saint.
To all the saints and angels thanks for intercession
To all else listen to the mods!

Hi Shutter,

I'd see this more as positive movement, versus a completion of your request, since you said you asked for him to be with you physically, emotionally, spiritually and mentally. He was with you physically, which shows that you're moving in the right direction. Pray to your saints for guidance, and I'd suggest thanking them for the movement toward your end goal, then ask for the rest to come to fruition, per your initial request.

Showing gratitude for your spell's progression is very respectful, even while you're still hoping and praying for the rest!

Best of luck to you!

Hi TheFattMac101,

I'd get quiet, light a candle for him, and ask him. Wait for signs, feelings, or a message, and see what comes up.

Is there any particular reason you think he would be jealous?

Hi TheFattMac101,

I suggest reading through this excellent thread, if you haven't already, to get ideas of how other people work with saints and spirits and communicate with them. You should be able to check in with both San Simon and Jesus Malverde to see if they are okay with you working with both, what they'd like on their altars (if anything), etc.

Best of luck to you!

Hello LuckyScorpio,

It depends on what you are petitioning Amphitrite to help you with, and I am presuming it has something to do with safe travel or for calm during a storm. If you could be a little more clear in your intention, then we can advise you properly.

Hello TheFattMac101,

You can petition San Simon for help with luck, love or money. You can burn the candle while building a relationship with him before asking for his help, or during your request for help, or afterwards in tribute to any help he has provided. Typical offerings include money, tobacco and alcohol.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

I have a family member that was in the hospital for multiple health problems. He recently had a stroke so he has lost oxygen to his brain making him slow to respond to peoples questions and affecting his ability to walk on his own. He does remember some things but the doctor is not sure how much he remembers because he won't respond to her questions. He is losing blood but the doctor doesn't know where it's coming from, his heart is not pumping blood in a normal way, they want to do a colonoscopy to see if he is losing blood from there but can't do a colonoscopy because of his heart. He also has a hernia near his private area. Now he has been sent home instead of a nursing home due to the coronavirus and his health is declining because he has lost a lot of weight causing him to be frail and not have any strength, he can't walk, he won't open his mouth to eat and take his medication.

I need a miracle to help get his health back. Which Saint should I pray to?

Saint Jude (for all his health problems)?

Saint Expedite (to help him quickly heal from his health problems)?

Saint Andrew Avellino (heal him from his stroke)?

Saint John of God (to help heal his heart)?

Saint John Licci (to help heal his brain, memory)?

Saint Erasmus (to help his colonoscopy procedure be successful)?

Saint Gummarus (to help the removal of his hernia be successful)?

LuckyScorpio,

I don't usually work with saints so I cannot give you any helpful advice on choosing one over the other. I would say that I would choose just one or two to work with. I would read as much as possible about the history and traditional ways to work with them and then choose the one that fits the best. Perhaps a member of your local church could help you decide.

I'm sorry to hear about your family member's health issues. My heart goes out to you.

Hello everyone,

I hope everybody is well in these crazy times.

My question is a doubt, about doubts!!

I am a Christian and I work with saints, depending of the purpose. I also work with angels, I directly pray to Jesus, Mary, Joseph, or more directly: God himself.

But I have a doubt, just in case, you can help me or you have some info about this.

One of my problems is doubting, I have a lot of doubts and I'm not very good at making decissions, because I always need for advice. When I need to make a decission I need my time because of the amount of doubts I have.

These days, due to the coronavirus crises, I lost my job and I don't know if I'm going to get it back, because my contract would expire in June and then I would be hired again in September. But I have been fired according to my boss "until the quarantine finishes". In my location we're not sure when it's gonna end, so I'm not sure if I'm gonna be hired again, and that takes me to think that maybe I should look for another job. I work as a languages teacher. But due to the crises I don't know what is going to be my future, and in this quarantine I have thought about my future, my job. I earn not much money, so I was thinking about improving my job as a teacher or looking for anothe path in job arena.

To sum up: I don't know what to do with my life.

When a person is full of doubt, who is the recommended saint to call upon?. I once read that the Holy Spirit is good at it. I have understood reading throughout this forum that King Solomon is very good at it and he has his own line LM products. In my desperation, I once prayed the Holy Spirit, no answers; then I called many Saints, still no answers; have prayed to Jesus directly, maybe He's a bit busy, still no answers. I sometimes pray the Rosary and doubts are gone even if I don't get an answer, I feel much better without worries. Maybe I need more time and not being so impatient.
But, in these matters, have you ever heard of a saint who helps with doubts?, Is just King Solom the adecquate at these matters?. When you feel yourselves in a kind of crossroads and don't know wich path to take, who do you call?. Is that a question of personal matters?, calling the saint/deity that you feel more comfortable with?.

Just an input, today I was feeling in a very low mood; must add that one of my dearest protectors is Saint Barbara, and was watching a TV show and thinking about my problem and the actor named a woman "Barbara". I felt like "oh!".

Thanks everybody. Have a nice day.
Thank you Saint Jude, glorious Apostle, miracle performer, because you took me back to Jesus.

Hello Charles_,

This forum is the customer service arm of the Lucky Mojo Curio Company, and assists customers in the use of products purchased from Lucky Mojo for the practice of hoodoo conjure. It is not a general forum for magical traditions around the world.

You can always consult the AIRR (Association of Independent Readers and Rootworkers) site, which is an enormous resource for information on magic and spirituality. You can find thewebsite here:

Good luck.

Hello Alice Kyteler,

I am not aware of any particular saint who is affiliated with relieving doubt. I would work with whatever saint you have built a relationship with, and petition for help in bringing you clarity and confidence. Since you already have a relationship with St Barbara, why not ask her for help? She is venerated as a Holy Helper, and you have already received something of a sign from her, so I would pray to her.

"Answers" come in different forms, so be open to signs and responses. They may not always be as obvious as you might anticipate.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Hi Miss Athena,

Thanks a lot for your kind response.

I think even there is a saint for every issue, the Saint that I have built a relationship with and is calling me must be taken into account.

I link Saint Bárbara with the removal of blockages, just a personal thought, she has some kind of energy similar to Saint Michael, protector and helper, at least she evokes me that image.
I'm working in a novena praying to her and also to Saint Peter for helping me with road openinng.

Just recently read that Saint Joseph could be good for doubting issues, as he had to face a lot of proofs and he never refused or disobey God, even he had to face that Mary was pregnant carrying the Son of God and he married her in a brave attitude. All these important things he was called upon to do, were announced by an angel and he never never put these commandments into a doubt. He obeyed God because he was a devoted man. He married Mary, he educated Jesus and provided them with a home and a job.

On 1st May the world celebrates the Internacional Day of Work in Saint Joseph honour. He has two feast days in the calendar, this one and on 19th March, when we celebrate his paternal legacy. Saint Joseph the Father and the hardworker.

Thanks. Have a nice day.
Thank you Saint Jude, glorious Apostle, miracle performer, because you took me back to Jesus.

TheFattMac101,

If tobacco is a no go, then just offer some liquor and money around the candle. I would try to stick to what is traditionally used if possible though.

Skorpabtheru,

I believe Miss Athena answered a similar question from you on another thread. Please refrain from reposting the same question on different threads. I have never heard of someone working with that spirit in that matter. If you are set on working with the Jezebal spirit I would advise you to go back to your original post and use the link Miss Athena provided.

Little Devils have been employed this way and you can find out how to work with them here: https://www.luckymojo.com/devils.html

Good Luck

Not sure where to post this topic, but has anyone experienced this before? Every time I place a cup of water on my altar to offer my spirits, usually a week or two later, the water goes down about half a cup instead of the full cup it started with! No one touches my space. Second time this has happened.

Hello musclequeen378,

Water evaporates, and certainly water left out that long will be reduced over time. I don't see this as necessarily spiritual in nature.

One word of advice, replace your offerings more often. Would you be satisfied if someone offered you a cup of water that had been sitting out for weeks? No, you would prefer a fresh drink. So do your spirits.

Just a thought.

I was thinking evaporation at first, but was hoping maybe it happens mostly outdoors, but thanks for the answer. Makes total sense.

axxxan --

Each saint is known for something -- some work, some interest, some skill, some form of help. Saint Expedite is known for getting money or correspondence in a hurry. Saint Jude is known for curing diseases despaired or or situations deemed hopeless. Neither is known for destroying relationships. Remember that saints are good, kindly, helpful men and women -- they are not called upon for cursing or destruction except in a justified case, where justice is called for.

I caution folks against thinking that saints, spirits, gods, goddesses, angels, demons, or djinn are "helpers" you can pick up at a spiritual labour bureau. To work with them will not be wise unless you know their traditions of those who venerate them

Hello everybody,

I promised her to give her credit for the petition she granted me.

I woke up one morning with a brown spot on my tooth, I take care of my teeth everyday, I'm very focused on mouth and teeth hygiene. Finding that spot was a shock to me, I started to think about the dentist's bill and all the issue was a headache.

I wondered, why? I care for my teeth everyday!!!

And I discovered that there is a Christian patron Saint for teeth isssues, and her name is Saint Apolonia of Alexandria, a martyr. She was tortured by the rude and violent extraction of her teeth.

I prayed her from my heart because there is not novenas for her, I have not found any.
The brown spot of my tooth disappeared within ten days aproximately.

Thanks a lot to Saint Apolonia for this miracle. She's fantastic.
Thank you Saint Jude, glorious Apostle, miracle performer, because you took me back to Jesus.

Have discovered that when it's too hot and there is a lack of rain, Saint Michael is awesome with weather changes.

Have prayed several times for the decrease of heat and the need of rain, and Saint Michael has demostrated me he has the power to produce rain and a bit cold if there is rain needed or the heat is a suffering.

I just hate hot weather and merciless summer, strong heat just kills me.

If you need rain in your locations, if there is lack of rain or it's too hot, pray to Saint Michael. He's so lovely.

There is also another patron saint related to water and rain when lands, fields and orchards need rain and water: Saint Isadore the Labourer, a man who lived in Madrid (Spain) in the Middle Age. He performed a lot of miracles and he's venerated around the world as the holy patron of farmers, he's the holy patron Saint of Madrid. One of his miracles was the ability he had finding water and water wells. He not only worked the land, he was also a kind of a dowser. He has been related to health issues as well.
His feast day is the 15th of May.
Thank you Saint Jude, glorious Apostle, miracle performer, because you took me back to Jesus.

Hi Alice Kyteler,

That is wonderful news about your tooth!

I just wanted to let you know that if there is a saint you want to work with who does not have individual products, you could use Lucky Mojo’s All Saints products to petition them. https://www.luckymojo.com/products-all-saints.html

Hi RisenRaven,

Thanks. It was incredible!

I'm planning to purchase All Saints oil as I work with many saints, so this oil fits perfectly. I also would like to order 711 Holy Oil, I see them both as a very good investment.
Thank you Saint Jude, glorious Apostle, miracle performer, because you took me back to Jesus.

Great! I have never petitioned a Saint before but I do need some dental work done and perhaps I will look into Saint Apolonia! ☺️

A lot of people have asked about ways to pay or other things to do or thank the saint for the help. (you can include this post of mine in the saints payment thread)

Offering a church service is well appreciated for saints, just speak about my experience. Before going to church you can state "my dear (name the Saint) I go today to church service, to the mass, to give thanks to you". Or in church I say "I offer this service to honour (the Saint) for all the assistance she/he/they has/have given to me".

Have had extraordinary experiences when going to churches to the mass to thank the saints; in my case:
-Saint Michael
-Saint Raphael
-Saint Gabriel
-Guardian Angel
-Saint Therese
-Saint Jerome
-Saint Magdalene
-Saint Peter
-Saint Lucía
(They list is huge as I work regularly on Saints)
-Saint Martha: who even had a place reserved just for ME that day so I could be under her wonderful and beautiful altar during all the service.
-Jesuschrist: of course!!! He had a place reserved to me as well!, That day, I got up in the morning at 6.am. because due Covid restrictions the church has limited places and that day (a feast day), a lot of people were about to come and I wanted to have a place (those who come late, don't get a place so they can't go inside). I arrived the first one, and waited for more than an hour and a half stood up with no seat waiting for the church to be opened, just to give thanks to Jesus that day and I even had petition him nothing in particular, I just wanted to be there that day to honour him.

I promised them going to church when petition is granted specially or while working with them, on their feast days at least is a a custom to me. I even broke the law trespassing not allowed areas to enter due to a restriction. That's was my sacrifice: Put me in risk me to have an issue with the police and being fined. I felt like these spirits supported me all the time during my sacrifice/criminal adventure. I'm NOT encouraging anyone here to break the law (I Hope you understand this), but I had a promise myself with the three Archangels, Jerome, Therese and my Guardian Angel and had to go to the church. According to my local politicians, It was needed to lock a half of the city (political nonsense) so we have been like in Berlin with the Wall: "no trespass this limit because you can spread that virus, but you can come here if you work here or spend your money in this city limit and improve the econony " with no health mesures at all, yeah, politicians!
Of course going to church was forbiden, my locked city limit wasn't in that part of the city.
Keeping all the health measures and all that, I went to the church when I was not allowed in that time.
The signals I received, the peace, the feelling...saints seemed to enjoy all this. It was even funny. I felt like a criminal...for going to church.
The day I had to go to give Saint Michael thanks, the church perimeter was FULL surrounded by police officers, I was even about to give up, they could've asked for my ID card and discover I was not allowed to enter that area. But I did not want to give up: I promised my dear saint Michael I had to go there: I enter the church with no problems, my conclusion is that it was a challenge from Saint Michael to see how far could I go for him or if I was being honest with my promise of going to church full of faith. A faith test.

I do this all the time: I give thanks in church and when is the saint feast day, I go again. So I go regularly because I have to give a lot of thanks (It was Saint Jude who thanks to his miracles, I went back to church).
If time and money allow me, I have even planned a few pilgrimages to sacred places where many Saints are buried or Virgin Mary sanctuaries and shrines, etc.

Go to church, pray for them. As simple as that. There's no more beautiful present for them, they deserve it, they're holy Spirit who lived for Jesus, Jesus Saints.
Your relationship with the Saint is going to improve.
Thank you Saint Jude, glorious Apostle, miracle performer, because you took me back to Jesus.

Hi Everybody!
In one of your article you wrote about folk Devil in hoodoo. In my opinion it's very interesting topic. I started to researach something more about it. But! In every book about Hoodoo which I have read there were only informations about Tommy Johnson and his meeting with "devil", or nothing. I only found a lot of informations how to work with saints. But "Devil's subject" is still in my mind. So I decided to write to you. Do you know any books about working with Devil in hoodoo tradition? Or any websides?
I know that folk Devil is not the same spirit as catholic vision of Devil. So I started to learn some about traditional cornish witchcraft. But still I wonder how it looks in hoodoo? Is it similar as traditional english witchcraft?
If you have informations, or any titles of book, which I can read about it, please let me know.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge! :D

Thank you for your answer!
I have one more question: How is it with voodoo Loa? I wonder: If somebody wants to practise with them is it necessary to be part of the voodoo religion? I know it's a religion that requires initiation, but in some places in the internet I found informations that we don't need initiation to work with them. Can you explain me what is truth? Thank you in advance!

Hello Lunasunset,

You should contact the shop directly and ask them to forward you the correct English prayer. We do not have access to the shop's inventory here on the forum.

You could also consult an online translation application to translate the prayer you have.

Good luck.

I made an altar for St. Expedite this past Wednesday. I didn't ask for anything yet, I thought it more appropriate to form a relationship first. I just spoke from my heart, let him know I would need him soon and probably on other occasions in the future. So the next morning I looked over at the altar and noticed there were bubbles in the glass of water. I was super excited and my first thought was that he was communicating with me. I know that happens with glasses of water, but I found it odd because the glass of water on my ancestral altar (which is the same type of glass) NEVER gets bubbles. I'm wondering if the bubbles mean anything in particular.

Also, if the bubbles do in fact mean something, could there be a reason I'm not seeing bubbles on my ancestral altar?

Yes, bubbles are often said to represent spiritual activity. Quiet ancestral water means the ancestors are being quiet.

Well that's awesome to hear about my St. Expedite altar. Could there be something I'm doing wrong with my ancestral altar? I leave offerings consistently, I spend time with it almost daily. I've been literally pouring my heart out at times, the same as I would if my family were here and I needed a shoulder to cry on. I kinda feel discouraged now.😞

NayNay,

Miss Cat said they were quiet not absent! Depending on your system of belief or religion, but over all many agree and believe we have a spiritual court that overlooks us, such as family, spirt guides, guardian angels. They may speak to you in other methods, perhaps in a dream, a message you hear in your ear, a sign that only you and them would know. Start with ancestors who you know when they were alive and had a great positive relationship with first, why not all of them you may ask? Well, not all of them were good people and not all of them will like you, just because they pass over does not change them. I have an. ancestor who was a criminal, I certainly do not want to call on him for assistance! Lucky Mojo sells a wonderful product that would help you reach out to your spirit guides, its called spirt guide oil, dress it on candles, wear it on yourself when doing ancestor work.

Are there any good books on Tefnut, Egyptian Goddess of Moisture? I'm trying to find more pictures of this goddess besides the ones I find through Google because I'm not sure about using one of those pictures if I set up an altar for her. I'm also looking for information on her such as how to work with her and what offerings to give her.

LuckyScorpio,

I did not find any information or books on Lucky Mojo about this goddess that you are seeking. You may have more success looking into an egyptologist workings to further your study. There are also AIRR members who work with different spirits, you may contact one of them and learn more about this goddess and finding appropriate images.

What Spirits can help me find people that has a specific skill or service? For example, I'm looking for someone with a pickup truck that can haul away heavy items, looking for someone who is a professional makeup artist, looking for someone who knows how to do plumbing, looking for an electrician, looking for someone to help repair my backyard fence.

LuckyScorpio ,

Many Catholic Saints are known as Patron Saints for specific causes and one may be petitioned for that cause. I also think you would have success in using attraction products to draw these individuals and workers into your life as well.
