The AIRR Tech Team met today to debut our brand new page on Tenskwatawa.

The AIRR Tech Team met today to debut our brand new page on Tenskwatawa. He was known as "The Shawnee Prophet." He founded a purification movement that promoted unity among all Native American tribes, rejected assimilation with European-American settlers, and renounced the use of alcohol. Catherine Yronwode wrote the page and Miss Michaele, Mama Vergi, Ms. Robin, and Nagasiva Yronwode helped by making minor edits and testing links to other pages on the site.

If you know AIRR primarily as a directory of hoodoo practitioners and are not familiar with the AIRR pages on religious traditions of the world, check out our brand new page on Tenskwatawa!

The Tenskwatawa page is here:

@Nagasiva, I'm curious, what's the spiritual significance of Tenskatawa and how does he tie into Conjure?

Hello, Elas23,

The page on Tenskatawa, like all of the Native American Prophets pages, is hosted at the Association of Independent Readers and Rootworkers. AIRR is a sponsor of the Lucky Mojo Hoodoo Rootwork Hour, and in trade, Lucky Mojo posts AIRR's weekly announcements of new pages, which are written and illustrated by the AIRR Tech Team.

AIRR is a very large site maintained as a directory of ethical readers and rootworkers. While primarily devoted to information about African American hoodoo, the site also hosts considerable information about the indigenous religious of the world, including the pantheons, prophets, and sacred texts of those religions.

Tenskatawa had no direct relationship to hoodoo, but as a prophet, he was a powerful figure who is respected by many modern spiritual workers, and for those who carry Native heritage, he may also be seen as a sacred ancestor.
