The two accounts (now "YellowBrick" and "Perennial") have been resurrected and reset to anonymous (renamed, email@unknown.com in ACP).

See the "People Who Want Their Accounts Deleted" in the Moderator Forum for future procedures in response to requests to delete accounts. Let me know if you are aware of other deleted accounts, too! Thanks.

The 16 years we have invested in this forum since 2003 -- including 11 years invested in the public forum since 2008 -- would be a huge waste of our energy as volunteers and recompensed moderators if all of our work could be undone by users who decided to remove the questions on which we have worked so hard to supply answers.

We can and will delete your account, however, and change your username. I have chosen Off-Purple to represent you, as we are waving farewell and seeing you off -- and i will do the work at once.

Once a post has been replied to it can no longer be deleted. We put a lot of time into making replies, and if folks could delete their posts, then the topic threads would become incoherent.

I have a perhaps unusual query and this might be the wrong thread for it, but I didn't see a better one. Let me know if I missed something!

I don't want to delete any posts I've made, but if you click on the "number of posts" link in my profile, a bunch of those posts were not written by me. And a few of those posts are things I think it could legitimately damage my reputation to have my name attached to.

I am not tech savvy and so I have no idea what any of this would look like from the back end, but is there any way y'all can tell if some of them came from a different email address or something like that, so we could disconnect them from me somehow? If that's not possible, I'd be happy to go through them all and identify the ones I didn't make if that would be helpful and if I knew who to give that info to (assuming there's anything y'all could even do with that information).

The backstory:

When I came back online after a hiatus of several years, I had to create a new account. Miss Cat saw me post yesterday and generously linked my new account to my old account. But it looks like maybe while I was gone, the old mailing list threads got merged into this forum? And I'm speculating, but maybe somehow something got confuzzled as the data was being migrated?? I honestly don't know how this would even work. But at first I thought that while I was gone, somebody else started using my name. Having gone through more of the posts now, though, I think that probably *isn't* the case and some kind of data hiccup is more likely. So I have no idea whether this is something with an easy fix or even any fix at all. But if there's something I can do to get these posts I didn't write disconnected from my name/profile, let me know and I'll get on it.

Karma -- i see exactly what kind of posts you mean -- i know you, and i know that you are not an airline hostess who is looking for a wealthy man!

I think that another woman took on the username <Karma > and those posts got mingled into yours when nagasiva merged <Karma Zain> with <Karma>. I believe that this account was merged into your account YEARS AGO, when nagaiva was compiling canonical student threads for all course students and graduates. Siva agrees with me that this happened in the past, not recently. You were not around and did not notice it. but then, when you returned, siva merged that balled-up account with your new <KarmaZain> account and you noticed it right away.

I hate to make you do the work, because it is our mistake.

Your actual posts fall into 4 groups:

1. HRCC private course group posts, not seen by the public. Start date is 2007 because that is when you enrolled in the course and your personal end-date is not known to me, but can be assumed to be 2016. In any case, all of these posts are in the student forum area and will never have been moved into the public area. They are helpful posts to other students and there is no reason to delete them.

2. AIRR private forum posts. These run from 2009 - 2016 for you, while you were in AIRR. and all of these posts are in the AIRR forum area and will never have been moved into the public area. They are VERY helpful posts to other AIRR members and there is no reason to delete them.

3. Public forum posts you made. If you actually ever made any public forum posts (i have not checked), these would date from December 2008, when the public forum first went online, to when you left, circa 2016.

4. Posts you have made in 2021 after returning.

The 5th category consists of posts erroneously attributed to you, but actually by <Karma>.

5. There are a limited number of these, dated from 2013 - 2019. They all deal with questions about spells for love and money matters.

I think the clean-up will take time but will not be too arduous because just reading the snippet-view and noting that the post is public is enough to distinguish them from your posts in every instance, as far as i am concerned. I cannot begin it today, as i am deep into a deadline for my weekly Patreon post, but i will inform siva and he and i can do it by hand.

We will give the "other Karma" a slightly different name -- she should not have been permitted to have a name so close to yours anyway -- and that will separate her posts from yours.

I think we will call her "KToo", because she signed some of her posts "K." If she returns, we will explain what happened to her and allow her to choose a different username.

I would also like to restore your name from the new <KarmaZain> to your earlier appearance as <Karma Zain> if siva can do that easily.

I am very sorry this mixup happened! Please accept my humble apologies on behalf of the forum staff!

Glad you found the student forum. As a result of your checking in here, i have compiled a bunch of scattered copyright violation reports -- and the results of reporting them -- into a sub-forum. Also, you are right -- the graduates subforum was absorbed into the students forrum ("once a student always a student") (LOL!) when the Yahoo Groups system went down.

I am so happy to catch up with you again. You have been an important albeit distant, part of my lief for so long, and i admire your work greatly.
