Hmmm -- lots of opinions in this thread, and it is an old one, so I think some clarity is in order.

The phrase "Black Tobacco Candle" can refer to either of two things:

* A black vigil candle dressed with "Black Candle Tobacco" (see below!)

* A black free-standing candle such as a 4" altar light, a 6" offertory candle, 9" jumbo candle, or a seven-knob candle that has been rolled in "Black Candle Tobacco" (see below!) The rolling may be facilitated with Oil (in this case, Tobacco Oil), or it may be made the old-fashioned hard-core way, by melting some wax on a cookie sheet by placing it in the oven for a few minutes, strewing the wax with "Black Candle Tobacco" (see below!) and rolling the candle up in the wax to make a lumpy surface. This method is described more fully in Miss Cat's classic book, "The Art of Hoodoo Candle Magic."

"Black Candle Tobacco" is very dark tobacco. It is not the light brown Virginia or cigarette style tobacco, although if you are on a budget, you could rip a cigarette open and use it. But this stuff is actually black Tobacco, like a Latakia type, and cut in shreds, for use in a pipe. It is really strong.

Our prepared 8" glass-encased vigil lights come with a dressing of oils and herbs and will burn for 5 - 7 days, depending on ambient temperature and other factors.

If you wish to set a traditional Novena of nine days, you will either have to start and stop the candle (which can result in a smoky glass), or purchase two candles to run continually over the 9-day period.

Always practice fire safety when setting vigil lights. If you must keep them lit when you are away or asleep, be sure that no pets or children can get into the room with them, that they are not near curtains or flammable cloth or paper, and that you have a smoke alarm in your house. Placing lit vigils in the bathtub is quite common, but you must not have a shower curtain if you use this method. Setting them into a fireplace is ideal, as there is a ready-made chimney for them.

Now don't forget... you don't have to smoke the tobacco to derive the benefits you seek. In fact, we recommend using it as an incense in your rituals.

A wonderful product to use on a skull candle to influence a person's thoughts. Powder it and dust it on the candle, or burn it and blow/wave the smoke into the face of the skull as you tell the person what to think. Do this from that persons perspective, " I like Jane Doe".
