Walking a new path

Unread post by Flame_Bridhesdottir » Sat Jul 17, 2010 6:00 pm

Hello all!
I've been a pagan practitioner of magic for about 7 years, with my practice being largely Wicca based with Celtic leanings. Despite being half black, I have never felt any pull toward the ATRs, until about a month ago. Out of seemingly nowhere, I suddenly developed an interest in Hoodoo.

Last year, a santera of my acquaintance told me she had a message for me from the Ancestors. I declined receipt of the message, telling her that path was not my area of interest. She gracefully understood, and kept the message to herself.

When I suddenly developed an interest in Hoodoo, I recalled our conversation, and so contacted her and asked her what the message was. To quote her, "They said your path lies in the African Traditional Religions". LOL!

And so, here I am, having been hit with the Clue by Four of the Gods, and humbly ready to learn.

Do keep it well in mind that hoodoo is not an "African Traditional Religion" Its not a religion, its folk magic, and its not straight African, its African-American with bunches of other influences. Just something to think on. Welcome to the board :D

I guess I wasn't very clear. I get overly excited sometimes. I'm aware that Hoodoo is not a religion per se, and that it is not purely African. I just feel it's a good start, you know, sort of "work my way backwards" so to speak, and see where it takes me.

Thanks for the welcome!
