Oil of Gladness is a mild body-oil employed for romantic sexuality in conjunction with Psalms 45, for, as it says, "Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the Oil of Gladness above thy fellows."

Use oils to fix candles, prepare magical amulets, anoint the body and hair, add to bath water and floor wash, and dress furniture and rooms, according to folk magic spell lore.

We've been selling this oil for about a year with one of our hand-written generic labels, and it has sold enough that i got tired of hand-lettering each one and decided that it rates its own cute label! Thanks to nagasiva for making the upload of my new design a priority.

Aha! Oil of Gladness has arrived! This has been one of the shop's well-kept secrets. It was not even on the web site -- in order to get it, customers had to know about it and ask for it by name.

As the Keeper of Facebook Fridays! I will be sure to get this into the list of upcoming prizes. Next week (1/17/20) will be a book special giveaway, but the week after that (1/24/20), I promise that we will give away Oil of Gladness.

I'm almost positive that I was told - maybe by you Miss Cat?? - or at least read somewhere that it is traditionally consecrated in a bowl of a certain type of wood. I remember because I bought this bowl from somewhere, but I forgot what type of wood it is.

During the recitation of Psalms 45, according to Jewish folk magic traditions, the psalm is spoken over oil, and it is also a tradition among some folks to use an olive-wood bowl to hold the oil, but any bowl will do.
