Hypnosis for Healing, Self-Care, and Influencing Others

It is a little-known fact that quite a few rootdoctors of the past were hypnotics, and that many are to this day. Hypnotism can be used to induce relaxation, to aid in gaining insight into one's own life, to assist in overcoming addictions and eating disorders, to resolve sexual fears, and to work beyond past traumas into a better future.

As an adjunct to spiritual healing modalities, both induced hypnosis and auto-suggestion or self-hypnosis are an amazing resource that, along with techniques such as energetic healing and reiki, have improved the lives of many.

I have written a web page about hypnosis at the Association of Readers and Rootworkers (AIRR) site, and i hope it will serve as a useful introduction to the subject for those who have never investigated hypnosis as a spiritual and magical practice:

The AIRR Tech Team met today to work on several projects. Catherine Yronwode wrote a brand-new AIRR services category page for the practice and instruction of hypnosis and self-hypnosis, illustrated by Nagasiva Yronwode 's scans of items in Miss Cat's archive. Hypnotism is a time-proved method to develop a new approach to life, move past bad habits, and gain personal discipline, and a hypnotism coach can help you tap the powers of your mind on a journey to a better quality of life. This new page brings attention to Madame Nadia's upcoming workshop at the Virtual Hoodoo Heritage Festival 2020! Others attending the meeting were Mama Vergi, Miss Athena Gotham Conjure, Lady Muse, and Miss Michaele Hoodoo Foundry, who provided updates and discussion about the upcoming virtual festival as well as progress on their videos which are under production and review. This illustrated web page takes a deep dive into the hypnotic career of Melvin Powers (1922-2013), the author of many popular books on hypnosis and auto-suggestion, the inventor of the electrically-powered Hypnodisc, the man who brought us the original "Hypnotic Rain" recording that gave rise to today's ASMR craze, and the publisher of more hypnotism books by classic and contemporary writers than you can fit on your book shelf. For 65 years no one did more to bring hypnotism before the public -- and this week, i am presenting some of his best work in the form of annotated reviews and cover illustrations. A mentor and friend to many, Melvin Powers deserves a full biography, but until one is written, this bibliography will help to keep his memory alive.
