Re: Mammals as Omens: Cat, Dog, Horse, Bat, Squirrel, Etc.
I have a black cat, my familiar. She is amazing. In readings, she will show up confirming she is walking by my side.
She teaches me how to be patient, centered and how to soak in the sun!
Just like crows, black cats have a bad "reputation" but if we take the time to open our hearts and hear their messages, they can be helpful.
P.s. When LM packages arrive, she wants to know what "we" ordered.

one day I came home and pulled up in front of my apartment complex, I usually park in back. my friend and I was shocked to see a beautiful kitten laying dead on my side of the yard. the kitten was so perfect, so beautiful, so peaceful it didn't look dead. no wounds no cuts no nothing. what does that mean

It doesn't necessarily "mean" anything. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of stray and abandoned animals out there. We had a kitten show up at our front door and took him in. Unfortunately, he died about a year later, but he was a good cat. Give the kitty a decent burial if you can.

I have to agree with Mama Micki on this. It could very well of been the cat's time, and nothing more. Do give it a proper burial as was suggested if all possible.

I wasn't sure where to post this so I figured this forum would be the most suited for this subject.
Yesterday Black cats were crossing my path all day and night and the amount of my emails are 666 even after I delete them or get more emails it falls back to the 666 number.
I am not superstitious by nature and actually view black cats as protectors and who warn you of possible dangers, but I wanted to put this out here on the boards to get some of your impressions.
Thank You

Hi, I did the trick of placing the petition paper and other ingredients in the spoiled egg and burying it for the red ants to eat. After three days in the ground a raccoon, I presume, dug it up and ate the egg, petition, name papers and all. What does this mean for my spell? Does that signify it was stopped by the raccoon or the opposite? Was it fixed by the raccoon? thanks
Re: Mammals as Omens: Cat, Dog, Horse, Bat, Squirrel, Etc.
Hi, June,
Unfortunately, the problem isn't that the alleged "Bandito" (<--LOL) raccoon got to it. The problem is that you didn't walk away from the trick and forget all about it.
So, I would do the spell all over again. Please, next time, don't watch anything that happens. Forget all about it and assume that the spell is working. What happens in nature is part of the entire picture (and I always assume that whatever happens, happened for a legitimate reason) and it is not for us to question.
Take care and wishing you the best

Hi Miss Aida, thanks for the reply but I'm confused. I wasn't disposing of the trick the way you do at a crosswalk or running water where you toss it and walk away without looking back. I was burying a trick that I thought would work over time so I returned to the site 3x a day everyday and repeated my petition over it. I found the remnants of the eggshell on the morning of the 4th day. Was I supposed to bury it and walk away without ever looking back? but I thought that was for disposals. thanks

I understand what Aida is saying about "forgetting" the work -- BUT I PERSONALLY NEVER DO THIS! The injunction to do so is NOT something i was taught, although many have heard it and many teach it.
I was taught, on the contrary, to "watch for signs for three days."
You got your sign after THREE DAYS.
The sign was that the Ants did NOT take the spoiled egg -- rather, a thieving Raccoon did.
Bad sign.
Aida says you should not have looked at the Ants' nest. I say the opposite -- you SHOULD observe signs, and this sign was that a BANDITO -- a masked Raccoon, a tricky animal -- BROKE YOUR SPELL. Why? Because one or both parties opposes you very strongly and sent the Raccoon to destroy your spell. They are fighting the break-up.
Yes, do it again. Bury it deeper next time.

Thanks for clarifying. I always watch my work. I look for changes, inconsistencies, developments, patterns, anything really. Plus I like to repeat my petition over it to keep things focused and moving. Thanks for the replies.

Hi, About 6 weeks ago I did the trick where you bury an egg in an ant’s nest to be consumed by the ants. The spell was broken by a raccoon who dug up and ate the egg.
Since that didn’t seem to work for me, I decided to make a paper dollbaby of my target that I covered in honey and peanut butter with the petition that my target be consumed with certain trying emotions. I tied the dollbaby to a rock to keep my target in place. I left it by an ant’s nest somewhat near to where I had left the egg weeks ago so that the ants could go at it and make him crazy with thoughts.
I went back the next day to check on things and found that a raccoon, or perhaps a cat, had defecated in the exact hole where I had left the egg weeks ago. I went to check on the dollbaby and it had been consumed, but just not by ants. I’m thinking a squirrel because only the smallest shred of paper was left and the rock was gone. I found the rock some yards away sitting on an “x” that a park worker had spray painted on the ground (!!).
I’m teetering between whether these are good signs or not. Was that animal, excuse my language, shitting on my attempt to cross this person or was it leaving me a sign that things are going to shit for him? (I should add that I also did the feces-on-a-picture spell on him).
And was my spell stolen by the squirrel or was my petition fulfilled in that it was consume even if not by the ants. The rock on the x must point to being crossed, right?
Thanks for your thoughts

Hi, June,
These are strong signs that your work is being opposed with extreme vigour. In other words -- BAD signs.
The person you are opposing is sending mammals against your allies the insects. The animal was indeed shitting on your attempt to perform the break-up spell.

Re: Mammals as Omens: Cat, Dog, Horse, Bat, Squirrel, Etc.
I got a new job last month. Since then I started seeing dead road killed dogs and cats.
I love animals and this strongly disturbs me. In one week I can see up to five dead dogs.
Now I'm not doing that great at a new job and have lost my confidence. I see these dead animals
As some warning signs. Had a tarot reading at some random place downtown and was told I need to spend 1000 $ and my bad energy will Go away but I don't have that money. It is true that A new job I got is very negative and I can not get to do things right and keep forgetting how to do thing. I do have 2 dogs and 3 cats and love them To death. My dogs started hating each other and the other week one dog bit another and they started barking. Before this they never used to bark that much.
Last night at work I had a pen that exploded on me and a radio that burned out.
The other weird thing that happen was that while I was out of energy resting on the couch
I decided to record my dogs playing and when watching a video later noticed for sure 3 big circles
Flying around my dogs that looked like auras. It looks like my dogs could see these too.
Any suggestions or ideas what's happening to me and my dogs?

Hello, Dita,
I am so sorry that this is happening to you and scaring you.
Our readers from both AIRR and Hoodoo Psychics are ethical (and they all abide by a code of ethics). I suggest that you obtain a reading from one of them to get to the bottom of this problem.
We can't answer whether or not what a psychic said is true or not. As far as symbols, once again, this would require a reading. If this were me, I would want to know more about this. Is somebody trying to hurt me? Is someone trying to scare me? Is this a spirit giving me signs? And so on.
Tis is just too complicated a situation to answer without a LEGITIMATE reading.
here are the websites of our readers: http://readersandrootworkers.org www.hoodoopsychics.com
In the meantime, I would suggest some protection products www.luckymojo.com/fierywall.html
Wishing you the very best
Take care

Re: Mammals as Omens: Cat, Dog, Horse, Bat, Squirrel, Etc.
I should have read here first. I laid a trick (break up vinegar jar) in an abandoned cemetery. I returned to lay another trick and found the jar had been removed, and the wrappings had been shredded. The jar itself had shattered, which is why it had been disposed of and I had made a new one. I found the shredded wrappings around the trunk of a rotten tree where I have taken to laying bad work, and the broken jar was immersed in a nearby flooded pool of water a few feet away, it still had some contents in it. I assume it was a raccoon that dug it out, but can't know for sure as there were no tracks. My feelings were that this was a good sign, but now I'm wondering if it is a sign of opposition.
If I'm being opposed, it would be by my ex. She very loosely practices folk magic from part of her family, although she typically pretends she doesn't, and she is quite formidable when she wants to be.
Are raccoons messing with tricks, always seen as a sign of interference?
Thanks,
Lucky

LuckyMC, both the possibilities you suggest sound equally plausible -- which is why I say "Get a reading with a qualified, ethical psychic," if you are not able to do readings for yourself.
I would also find another place to dispose of bad work and failed spells.

Thanks Miss Michaele,
I'm thinking about doing that. Although I grew up in a house where my mom and grandmother did tarot readings every Sunday, and been doing readings since I was very young, sometimes the objectivity of a reader completely outside the situation can bring a great deal of clarity.
As I said, my initial feeling was that it was not just a good sign, but a great sign. Then seeing that it can mean someone is working against your work, and after the series of breaking jars (they all had completely rational reasons for breaking), I think getting a bit of advice as to how best work the situation is a good idea.
I'm quite fond of this particular cemetery and the spirits there, but the rotting stump, might just be too loose and easily dug up to provide security for buried work. There are plenty of other spots there that would be just as effective if not more so.

Sometimes rational reasons are rational. And sometimes they're more like camouflage, especially when it *keeps* happening to your spellwork.

Behind Br'er Rabbit is Rabbit the Cherokee trickster ....... Somehow it seems so appropriate to Hoodoo that these two beings are a part of it's rich content.

Well, come to think of it, in many stories about anthropomorphized animals, they act just like humans and in some scenes are scarcely recognizable as animals at all. Not just folktales, either, but even in modern tales like The Wind in the Willows.Spookyredhead wrote:I was scratching my head over the same thing Miss Michaele!

If human beings carry mojo bags containing human finger bones, why can't a rabbit carry a mojo hand contains a rabbit foot?

Keep seeing these rabbits/bunnies keep taking this as a positive sign watching TV and flipped through channels and BAM! An entire island of bunnies! At the store with my sister and was on the phone and turned my head Bam bunnies caught me off guard. The signs just keep coming, and I keep giving thanks for them. Waiting for movement and completion I know it's coming I feel it.

Honeydew0809,
Rabbits are interesting signs -- see the Queen of Pentacles tarot card -- depending on what you are working for or toward.
If you want to discuss it further, tell us more.

It's love/reconcillation work. And my personal interpretation of the bunnies are a positive sign.
On our first camping trip, just the two of us, there was a bunny at our camp site both days in the exact same spot.
I've been seeing bunnies A LOT this week especially. They jump out at me I'm not looking for them. I had previously shared about seeing one on the side of the road in a densely populated area and upon reflection tonight I realized it was close to a restaurant we went to together early on in our relationship.

You have been posting quite a lot about signs you have been seeing as yiu do spell work for reconciliation, but i have split the material about rabbits out into this thread because it is so specific to the topic of mammals as signs.
Rabbits are generally considered to be harbingers of good luck. Think of the lucky rabbit foot.
They are fast on their feet and bring messages and gifts (think of the Easter Bunny). They can symbolize spring, new beginnings, and fertility as well.

Re: Mammals as Omens: Cat, Dog, Horse, Bat, Squirrel, Etc.
Hi all,
This morning I was standing in the kitchen looking at my front yard and saw a buck step on to my lawn and sit down between two trees. I went and opened my front door looked at him and said thank you for coming by. Stay as long as you like. He stayed for 10 minutes or so. We do have lots of deer in this area, however this is the first time I have seen one sit on my lawn and stay for so long. I do have magic spell items deployed at one of the trees.
I would like to mention that I'm experiencing a bit of sadness this weekend. Nothing terrible, just working through some emotions. Also, yesterday I prepared a letter with Goofer dust that I will mail next week. After preparation, I sprayed the room with Buffalo Ammonia, sprayed myself with Florida Water, washed the counter top with Lucky Mojo Chinese Wash and anointed myself with Lucky Mojo Hyssop Oil reading the 51st psalm. I had intended to take a hyssop bath this morning with the Lucky Mojo Hyssop bath crystals, but a worker came over and I lost privacy. This stressed me out too.
I'm wondering if the deer has some meaning or message for me. Seeing him makes me feel hopeful, but I don't really know how to interpret this. I appreciate all feedback. Thank you.

Hello Happyntd,
What a dear means will probably vary some from person to person. IF your fist reaction was to feel hopeful then I would take that to be it's meaning. For me dear represent gentleness and a quiet approach to things so if it felt like this was an omen I would say it would mean something to the effect that things will be quiet and simple for a while.

Peace~

Thank you Nathen. Quiet and simple works for me.
Re: Mammals as Omens: Cat, Dog, Horse, Bat, Squirrel, Etc.
Just wanted to share something I find amusing. I've had to leave the house 3 times today and each time there has been a black cat in my yard. I'm assuming it's the same one. I went for a walk this morning and it was there when I left and came back too. I know about the black cat superstition, but I love them so it's nice that he's been hanging out here. I wonder why though

Usually the black cat is taken as a warning sign not to travel.

Oh, interesting! I didn't know that.
I suppose it's good that I have no immediate plans to travel then.

Re: Mammals as Omens: Cat, Dog, Horse, Bat, Squirrel, Etc.
Alright this just seemed strange to me. Earlier today I was sitting in my truck out front looking through the forum to get the best ideas for how I need to go about using my new spell kit I ordered from LM. It's about 27° outside I'm waiting on my mother to call so I can bring her this tv. When I go to pull out I notice a white and black cat come across my front porch. I think nothing of it except maybe I should put out some food for the cat. So I cokme back home maybe 9 hours later I start getting setup for my spells. I'm in the back room and I'm setting up for bend me over kit with 2 separate candles on there plates I carve them, do my petition paper dress them, add hair, fold them, dress candles, and finally roll them in poppy seeds. Light the bottoms and stick them to the plates and go clean myself up with ammonia and soap to start my light on my honey and reconciliation jars. After I do my ritual and light my candles on my jars. I again go to tje kitchen sink and clean up with ammonia and soap to not mix my oils because i still have to bath and do the ritual for the bend me over spell and light the other 2 candles in the back room. Someone chime in if I'm doing to much at one time on this woman. But she is very strong willed. Anyway when I turn around to grab a towel to dry my hands me and that same cat lock eyes. It's outside at my backdoor looking through the only spot where the cover isn't covering like a 6 inch gap. We just stare at each other and I get a feeling like it's watching me or something I'm not sure. So after us staring in each other's eyes for about a min I figured I would let the cat in the house. But when I went to approach the door it ran off. Now I'm not to fond of cats but my girlfriend I'm trying to work on has 2 cats. Could this be a sign that she will come around after this work or that she knows that I'm working on her. Some one chime in it just seems weird to me.but gotta go bathe up and start this grand finale. I also have to sneak in her yard tonight and sprinkle some ratchet powder. Fingers crossed hoping all goes well.

Hello Chief keef,
The cat could be an omen, it's hard for me to say. But if you felt like it rang a spiritual bell for you, I'd say to take it as a sign.
Take care.

Thanks again Sister Jean. Everything went well with the spellwork. So the cat wasn't a bad sign. I am curious to know what it could mean. *shrugs*

Hello Chief keef,
We can't really tell you what this cat meant in this particular instance without giving you a reading, which isn't a service we provide on this forum. I'd recommend getting a quick reading at one of these sites to learn more:

Re: Mammals as Omens: Cat, Dog, Horse, Bat, Squirrel, Etc.
I started a break up vinegar jar spell just over a week ago and decided to burn a candle on it outside under the full moon last night (its already full moon here in Australia). I laid it in the middle of the yard and lit the candle and sat outside and focused on it for a while - it was late at night so completely dark, not at dusk, moon was very bright over the yard.
A few minutes later a bat went past and swooped down over the jar and candle and back up and left, the flame wasn't put out and the candle burned fast, but I haven't seen bats around my house before and I've been there for years, we don't get bats around my area.
I'm a little concerned as I have been told they can be seen as bad omens and that they warn of bad happenings but considering I'm doing a negative spell and breaking a couple apart could it actually be seen as something good? Like the work is being acknowledged? This is my first vinegar jar.

Hello BabydollBunnyXx,
The bat could have simply been swooping to catch an insect that was drawn to the light, and acting as bats do. Or it could've been some sort of sign, I'm not sure. Have you done any divination on the subject to see what it could've meant?
Take care.

That's true, it just seemed odd as I hadn't seen bats around here for years, and I wasn't sure if they were known as omens for anything.
I have already paid for a reading from Deacon about my situation and my jars and waiting to hear back

Hello! Thank you for having me in this community. I have been thinking about how it was ironic how this cat keeps showing up in fantastically weird times, and then last night it came up to me and asked to be petted.
Is this my familiar, was she/he sending me a message, or just wanting a pet?
Thank you so much
Hope you can help.

Hello Miabiabananafanafofia,
Welcome to the Lucky Mojo forum. We're happy to have you here.
I have moved your post to the correct topic on mammals as omens. Please do not start new topics as you did, as this is against forum rules and you will find that we have nearly every topic already covered.
It's not possible for us to identify whether this cat is your familiar or simply a friendly neighborhood pet. If you want more clarity on this, you can get a reading from a professional who may also be able to prescribe rootwork you could do to strengthen your relationship and whatever role this cat is intended to play for you.
You can find professional readers and rootworkers here:

Hello, everyone, and welcome to "It's All Ephemera"!

This week in "Where the Southern Cross the Yellow Dog," we journey to Georgia to witness the Cunjer Wars of the late 19th century, as reported by the white archaeologist and folklorist Roland Steiner. His perspective on African-American magic is influenced by his years as an enslaver and Confederate soldier, but his reportage is precise and accurate, and not influenced in any way by academic theorizing.
ROLAND STEINER: OBSERVATIONS ON CONJURING IN GEORGIA, 1901, from The Journal of American Folk-Lore, 1901 (Collected from 1878 - 1899)
[PATRONS GET THE SECRET URL IN EMAIL ONE YEAR BEFORE IT OPENS TO THE PUBLIC]
This illustrated and annotated web page describes conjure, root doctoring, and witchcraft as practiced among formerly enslaved and recently emancipated people of African descent in the state of Georgia prior to 1900. Detailed accounts of several cunjer doctors personally known to the author are given, including their names and locations, making this a valuable research document for genealogists. The accounts of several cunjer wars comprise most of the text, but there are dozens of cursing, protective, and curing spells included as well. Techniques involve making cunjer bags, scattering herbs and graveyard dirt, laying tricks in a person's path, and crafting spiritual poisons.
The Southern Spirits web site includes material about hoodoo gathered from old books, magazine articles, newspapers, and fragments extracted from novels and short stories, annotated with interpretive and comparative notes. If you are not yet familiar with the public portion of the site, check it out!

MrsSchaeffer2020,
When a dog messes with your spell work, it is a sign or omen of great difficulty -- and the intended outcome may not be achieved.
Wild or unknown dogs can be symbols of dark forces, but a pet dog is a symbol of loyalty and guardianship. Consider the tarot card of the Fool -- someone about to make a mistake, but he is warned by his dog.
Your pet dog somehow found the doll, and i think this omen should be taken seriously.
