Our prepared 8" glass-encased vigil lights come with a dressing of oils and herbs and will burn for 5 - 7 days, depending on ambient temperature and other factors.

If you wish to set a traditional Novena of nine days, you will either have to start and stop the candle (which can result in a smoky glass), or purchase two candles to run continually over the 9-day period.

Always practice fire safety when setting vigil lights. If you must keep them lit when you are away or asleep, be sure that no pets or children can get into the room with them, that they are not near curtains or flammable cloth or paper, and that you have a smoke alarm in your house. Placing lit vigils in the bathtub is quite common, but you must not have a shower curtain if you use this method. Setting them into a fireplace is ideal, as there is a ready-made chimney for them.

Hi all,
I have a Mercury candle and I was curious about its potential uses.
Since Mercury is also a trickster, is it possible to use the candle with a petition to cross two people’s communication?
Or should it be used primarily for the purpose of ‘good’ works/petitions?

If the former is possible, I was thinking a petition along the lines of ‘X and Y fight every time they come into contact with one another.’

If the latter, I think I’ll go with something to increase beneficial communication with one of the aforementioned individuals.

The idea of Mercury as a "trickster" god is old -- he is the god of gamblers and thieves, after all -- but he does not necessarily cross up communication. Rather, in his "dark" side, he is a smooth con artist.

Of course, he is also the god of straightforward communication, speech, writing, literature, poetry, editing, ad copy, typesetting, and printing.

I am also currently burning a glass enclosed candle from LM to St. Expedite. There is a glut of information on and offline about the syncretism of Mercury, Hermes, Thoth, St. Expedite, and other ‘tricksters’ or Gods of speed/communication. I don’t want any of my work to conflict or offend. In your opinion, is there an issue with these candles burning simultaneously? Or could they compliment one another?

I am a Virgo and work in one of those fields you mentioned, so hopefully Mercury will find my petitions and desire to work with him favorable!

I think i understand your query -- Expedite does not conflict with Mercury. Think of them as cousins or brothers.
