How to Use Lucky Mojo Magical Herbs, Roots, Seeds, Flowers Questions and Answers

Hi, Theredqueen911,

The two plants i know as Mother of Thousands are Kalanchoe daigremontiana, formerly called Bryophyllum daigremontianum, and Kalanchoe laetivirens. Kalanchoe daigremontiana had spotty dark stripes on the backside of the leaf (and thus this species is sometimes called the Devil's Backbone) and Kalanchoe laetivirens is simply green-leafed. They both produce little plantlets along the edges of their leaves and have candelabras of peachy-orange bell-like blooms. Mother of Thousands is native to Madagascar and can be grown in other tropical regions and as potted plants if given a warm place to overwinter.

These and other Kalanchoes are succulents in the Crassula family, related to Jade Plant, Stonecrop, and the like. They are highly toxic and should never be eaten or brewed into tea. They cause deaths among cattle and sheep who eat them. I know of no responsible medicinal use for Mother of Thousands.

Now, common names being what they are, what i know as Mother of Thousands may be an entirely different plant to what you call by that name, This is why i gave you its unique taxonomic binomial, to be sure we are speaking of the same species.

The plant I have had the spotty dark stripes on the underside of the leaf ..so I think it's the Kalanchoe daigremontiana one ....are there any magical properties to this plant @ Miss Cat.?

I know of no magical attributions for Kalanchoe daigremontiana. In most of North America it is a remarkable botanical novelty and a cute (but toxic) houseplant. To my knowledge it has never entered hoodoo folklore or folk magic. Perhaps it has magical ascriptions in its native Madagascar, but i have not heard of any.

In fact, since you asked, i would like to add that i know of no magical symbolism or use in rootwork for any Crassulaceae family members. One reason for this may be that since magical usage often relates to or expands upon medical or culinary use, and Crassulaceae family members have no medical or culinary use, there was no development of a magical use.

Furthermore, since the chief novelty of Kalanchoe daigremontiana, its production of plantlets along the leaf margins, can only be appreciated while the plant is alive, it cannot have entered commerce as a dried herb or root, and can only pass from one hobby gardener to another -- which limits its numbers, and thus any given culture's familiarity with it.

It certainly can be grown out of doors in tropical and sub-tropical places, but the nature of hoodoo is that it developed in the warm temperate regions of the Southern United States, where such a plant would have to be brought indoors during the winter. In this it is similar to a Begonia -- another group of tender house plants with no magical attributions in hoodoo.

Trying to find a list of herbs that can be used to aid in gaining friends, or to get someone indifferent to you to be more inclined to be your friend.

I know Cloves are one, and I'm thinking of using Sunflower oil as well. Scott Cunningham's book of herbal magick lists Lemon, but per my experience Lemon seems to be more used in souring spells and to stop gossip, so I don't know about using it in this context despite the reference.

I'm definitely using Cloves, I'm looking to find at least two other herbs to add to my work, any suggestions or advice is welcome.

The mix is also blended with oil, I would not make a tea for drinking with this as it has oils on the herbs.

hello i just wanted to ask if someone has already talked about the topic of leaves before? or maybe it was something not really used?

Like - the leaves of roses for example / i know of petals / buds and actual use of the rose but i am unsure if anyone has talked about the leaves it has? or are they simply not used?

I have seen some people using it to reveal a truth and one saying use for domination while others basically said its not used in hooodoo - but i just want to check in here just in case. - does anyone know?

i dont think its in herb magic site and on cat's book since i ran through it last night.

I am not aware of rose leaves (the green) being used in hoodoo magic. I have seen thorns of a rose being used in love-drawing to inscribe a candle, and in break-up work to cause the pains of love.

I was wondering if Lucky Mojo sells wolfsbane? I did not see it listed as one of the herbs you sell but I do know you have some things that are not in your catalog that are available to be purchased by the public either in your store or in your vast store house.
I realize that it is a flower but I'm hoping that maybe you have the flower dried? And if you do how much?

Although we don't carry Wolfsbane at Lucky Mojo, we do carry other Saturnian herbs that have some similar corresponding properties! Walnut leaves, Knotweed, Comfrey, Mullein and Thyme all have Saturnian energy and might be a suitable substitute for the work you are doing. As I don't know what property your seeking to use Wolfsbane for, I'll assume you're either seeking it for its baneful properties or for its protective properties.

Walnut Leaves, Knotweed, and Mullein are all great options for various kinds of baneful Saturnian work.

Comfrey and Thyme have similar protective Saturnian properties.

Hello all!

I just got a reading from miss cat (thank you again, miss cat!!) and she suggested I Can, You Can't or Domination + an influence oil (I cant remember that third oil) for success at a third interview to land the job (Ops Mgr at a chiropractic office). I have Look Me Over and Attraction (I think), but the other oils I have are for protection, house blessing, Van Van, etc

Since I don't know when the third interview will be, as he hasn't emailed me yet, I don't know if I ordered the oils they'd arrive in time.

Are there any herbs I could put together in lieu of those oils, just in case?

Thank you so much! This was a massive and wonderful list, and it's kinda funny how many of these I have already in my stock.

In the short term, I ended up making a little "paper in my shoe" with a lot of your suggestions.

And miss cat, THANK YOU (!) for all these links! I spend hours pouring over all of your resources, and there are a few I'd never seen before, like Hoodoo Pharmacies and Eclectic Medicine, and How and When to Substitute Magic Herbs (which will be *so* useful!).

So thank you! I'm a research nerd and like to build my own cross-referencing lists. =)

Oooh, this happened a few minutes ago and now I'm super curious.

I went to grab some snacks from my local store which happens to be a Chinese grocer. I saw they had slices of dried licorice, but when I got close I noticed it was Glycyrrhiza uralensis and not Glycyrrhiza glabra.

Can I use them interchangeably since they're both in the same genus?

I would think they are interchangeable. Uralensis is native to Asia, while Glabra is European.
