hi, konstanta --
You wrote, "I'm aware hoodoo isn't too hung up on moon phases," and while i am not sure what you mean by "hung up on" (making a stumbling block of? obsessive about the use of? critical of?) i would like to recommend that you take a step back from thinking of hoodoo as some sort of monolithic magical system along the order of The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn or Garnerican Wicca or Lurianic Kaballah. It is not a "system" of magical practice, nor can its practitioners be described as operating in a uniform or regimented way.
With respect to spell iming, Individual hoodoo practitioners may or may not work by the phases of the Moon, the zodiac signs through which the Moon travels, Sun-signs, retrogrades, eclipses, or the days of the week and their planetary rulerships.
We have an ongoing in depth discussion thread about hoodoo astrology here:

Anyway, to get to your actual questions (sorry for the digression):
1) To attract steady work and success for a business, work while the moon is growing.
Here is one way: On the evening that the first crescent appears, face the Moon with a coin in your hand. Silver (real silver, not clad crap coins) are the most traditional. Address the Moon, saying something like, "Moon, as you grow, may what i hold in my hand grow too." You can offer the coin to the Moon (throw it to the moon) or take it home and use it in your bottle or jar spell spell for business success.
2) To represent the business in this bottle --
A name paper is okay, but the company's business logo or a business card is better; you can write on it, for instance with the $$¢¢$$ sigil.
You can carve on the candle, both the name of the business and your wish for the financial success of the business.
You can put personal concerns of the business owner in the bottle, but they should be "nice" concerns like a signature or a hair, not the yucky stub of a cigarette.
Additionally, you can add some dirt or dust from the doorway or threshold of the business as a personal concern for the business, not merely the owner.
Good luck to you!
