hello all, names J i have been interested in magic since a kid. I grew up in NY. Im an italian american. Some of my familys little quirks are around italian beliefs. I had a nanny who grew up in Porto Rico, when I was 11 she shared with me some interesting storys about living there and spells/spirt and events she experienced. I prefer folk magic over ceremonial, not sure why just do. I think this site is amazing and hope to learn more about hoodoo :P

Hi, J. I am half Sicilian myself, and i can tell you that you will find some interesting similarities and parallels between Sicilian folk-magic and African American conjure, especially in the Catholic sector of the hoodoo community.

JD, Google the term "benedicaria" as well. I think you'll really enjoy it.

(my family's from Bari, by the way. :))
