Saint Anthony Novena Candle Questions and Answers

Unread post by maduro01 » Fri Sep 18, 2009 11:04 am

After burning a Saint Anthony Novena, do I wait for the wish to be granted by Saint Anthony before burning a white candle for him?
Thank You Saint Martha for all that you've done and continue to do for me!!!!

It is not required, but the idea of adding a small cande of thanksgiving after the novena petition is granted has quite a history in folk practices of the Catholic Church. In the case of Saint Anthony, he is also associated with charity, and giving a few coins to help the poor in his name is a popular custom.

For answered prayers, I make his offering on a Tuesday, but and instead of white, I burn a brown candle, and offer bread and lilies.

I think St Expedite is the only saint whose offering I give afterward. For any other I give the flowers, wine, whatever, when I ask my request. While Tuesday is his day, if you have an immediate need you can petition whenever. Then again, Tuesday is...tomorrow, lol.

Hello! I was reading the forum about St Anthony and it stated that brown candles should be burned. I also saw somewhere else that it says a St Anthony candle is yellow.:? Could someone please explain to me which color is best? Thank you!

Brown wax goes with the brown label and Saint Anthony's brown robe. In addition to shipping the candles to customers to burn in their homes, we also set the lights here at our church, as a service. The cost is more, because we tend the candles and send you an email report. For those who are interested, here is the Missionary Independent Spiritual Church version of the Saint Anthony candle:

Hi AIRam,

Lucky Mojo vigil candles come dressed and fixed for you, so you do not need additional oils.

However, Lucky Mojo also carries a line of St. Anthony specific oils:
http://www.luckymojo.com/products-saint-anthony.html

You could also use Special No. 20 oil - which is all-purpose and good to have on hand if you're doing lots of candle work.

I know that you are in the UK and there is a longer shipping time internationally. This could be useful during those wait times.

Best of luck.

I had a reading from an AIRR root worker. According to the reading i ordered 3 Return To Me candle and 3 St. Anthony Vigil candles on his altar.

The first report was good for the Return To Me candle and the St. Anthony.

The second candle report i received on Saint Anthony said the candle burned well, but leaving a thin to medium ring of wax, yet the divination was good and the Saint will came in my assistance.

[Editor's note: we do not allow the posting of personal divinations in this Forum, so i have compressed and edited the emailed report. -- cat]

Can you please advise me if is the case needs more works for i did not understand the combination of the bad candle signs and the good divination.

The root worker has a lot of works and i have to wait 2/3 weeks for another reading and if possible i would like to do something.

What can i do?

Than You for help

fallah01,

My recommendation is to wait and see how the third Saint Anthony novena candle in your run burns. Stay in contact with your AIRR worker on the signs in the Return To Me candle as well.

Meanwhile, get a holy card of Saint Anthony and carry it in your wallet along with your personal petition-prayer to the saint written on a small piece of paper. Since you are not the one burning the candles, this will help to focus your mind on the prayer while the AIRR worker's assists by setting the lights.

fallah,

This is the second time i am telling you to stop posting your personal, private candle reports in this Forum. See above for the first time, where i wrote:

[Editor's note: we do not allow the posting of quotations from personal and private divinations in this Forum, so i have compressed and edited the emailed report. -- cat]

This time, because you ignored my message and simply went ahead and tried it again in the Saint Anthony Candle thread, but on a Return To Me candle this time --

1) I deleted the reports you quoted and did not bother to try to compress them.

2) i issued a board warning.

3) I put you on permanent "Newly registered" status (which usually goes away after 3 accepted posts), because you are not following our terms of service.

This thread is for help with questions about Saint Anthony Candles, not for re-interpreting candle divinations for Return To Me candles you had set and read at MISC. Because your planned next run of candles does NOT include Saint Anthony candles, i suggest you post in the section about MISC Candles for love. I will be glad to comment there on your choices and strategies of work. That thread is here:

catherineyronwode,
sorry for the mistakes, I understood it was possible to write only the condition of the candle and not the divination of the herbs,
I assure you there was no intention to have a re-interpreting.
I am from Europe and my English is not so good and I made this mistake.
I post something in the correct section, and I will appreciate any advice.
Really Sorry

No problem at all. Just trying to get you used to the way the Forum functions. And always remember, your English is better than my Italian! <3

"Saint Anthony of Padua is the Patron Saint of Padua, of Portugal, and of San Antonio, Texas. Prayer cards manufactured in Italy identify him as the saint of "miracles," but to most Catholics, he is the Patron Saint associated with the return of lost articles and missing persons. He is petitioned for help in finding almost everything that is lost, from car keys and misplaced papers to a lost job, a lost lover, or s straying partner. People who are regarded as "lost souls" may also be placed in his care. These widespread invocations to Saint Anthony for finding lost things and restoring missing people relate to an incident in which the saint was invoked to find a missing book and the prayer was efficacious; ever since then Saint Anthony has been the Patron of Lost Things."

Our prepared 8" glass-encased vigil lights come with a dressing of oils and herbs and will burn for 5 - 7 days, depending on ambient temperature and other factors.

If you wish to set a traditional Novena of nine days, you will either have to start and stop the candle (which can result in a smoky glass), or purchase two candles to run continually over the 9-day period.

Always practice fire safety when setting vigil lights. If you must keep them lit when you are away or asleep, be sure that no pets or children can get into the room with them, that they are not near curtains or flammable cloth or paper, and that you have a smoke alarm in your house. Placing lit vigils in the bathtub is quite common, but you must not have a shower curtain if you use this method. Setting them into a fireplace is ideal, as there is a ready-made chimney for them.
